Can't wait for TM to do my area so I can install unifi.. but need to know more about it first
Edit : Another question. Alot of people seem to have problems with this DR615 router, can't we use our own? This post has been edited by #Fly: Jul 26 2010, 04:53 PM |

QUOTE(Jeremy_John @ Jul 26 2010, 04:58 PM) Erm it's either a green ugly looking dustbin or a white box on the telephone poles... Okay, there's one 'green ugly looking dustbin' right outside my house with a TM logo on it, so i'm pretty sure that is it. But how do I know when I can install unifi, other than TM people informing me?Yes you can use your own router.... QUOTE Q: What is this and how is this possible? Wanted to edit my previous post again, but you replied faster xDA: Every consumer router has a username/password combination to access it. This is a basic security feature to ensure that only you (the owner) can access it. This Unifi router however, has two accounts by default. When TM installed Unifi in your home/office, they only configured the first account. The second account -- which has a higher level of access was left configured with its default username/password. They also neglected to inform the customers (you) and their own technicians who did the install about this second account. As every Unifi user is 'forced' to use this router and this account has not been configured properly, every Unifi user is also vulnerable to have their routers accessed by unauthorized users simply by using this default account user/password combination. Quoted from rizvan's thread, he says that everyone has to use this router. So.. what is it, really? Can use or cannot use? EDIT : Seems that rizvan has a guide on how to use your own hardware with unifi.. forget the block of text above This post has been edited by #Fly: Jul 26 2010, 05:07 PM |

is that Unifi still use wire telephone? so the `old` problem like kena kilat or old wiring could be `again and again`?
the IPTV box how much consume the bandwith? its stream the video and audio right? so without IPTV so the internet downloa and upload more faster? This post has been edited by K.I.T.T: Jul 26 2010, 05:12 PM |

Unifi uses fibre optic cables. Its underground. So you wont have to worry about lightning strikes.

QUOTE(orenzai @ Jul 26 2010, 05:11 PM) Unifi uses fibre optic cables. Its underground. So you wont have to worry about lightning strikes. meaning in english the phone line 100% no more in use? the terms `service as basic effort` OR `70% speed customer get` still happend? so in other word pakej 5MBPS but when download or what we dont get same as we pay? i reallly dont trust streamyx.too many `hidden` things. QUOTE(Jeremy_John @ Jul 26 2010, 05:16 PM) so the others place cant get UNIfi mean the fiber optic not ready yet? so the increasement speed is fiber optic and not the pakej right? but the gateway still problem? if the kabel putus di laut like 2 yeaers ago problem all TMnet user UNIfi and Streamyx got problem? because the improvement just the optic cabel only? so if i apply the pakej VIP 20 so i use old pc Pentium 4 3.0GHZ+512MB Ram DDR+ a little 40GB hdd so its useless? QUOTE(orenzai @ Jul 26 2010, 05:26 PM) Thanks for rectifying so the old problem still there but the new problem will after Unifi user?Yup. They use the same international underwater bla bla cable as Streamyx. Haha. so if i apply the UNIFi so i can cut the telekom old school expensive and noisy line? also the bil become one? pay RM 150 everything will be done..? for this momment i still use streamyx and the phone bill still seperately. as i can see Unifi not only bring the internet.it brings also the phone.the speed and last word internet.it worth for new user not use streamyx before it still need register fee and activation fee? and the most important things how about the agreement? still 2 years like before? |

The disconnection of the old phone lines and streamyx, do you need to call them or is it done automatically?? I recall them telling me when I registered that it will be done automatically yet my old phone line still functions.
