ok guys...now im struggling btw x10 and htc aria, both around the same price range for ap set

yes i understand that 2.1 is as far as the x10 can go...let say if we compare in term of browsing experience which will have the edge?

last word for me b4 i make the purchase? biggrin.gif

Obviously x10 with the superior screen size. x10 has dual touch and also Gingerbread(Custom rom) while Aria has close to nothing.

I'm going to have to say no to donut/eclair. Go for Galaxy 5 with 2.2 or Optimus one. Optimus 1 is more recommended for the larger screen size and better resolution.

Planning to get an Android phone.. Considering between HTC Desire, DHD & Desire Z, which would be a better option?

Desire is a bit old (but from what I read, still the best device around), DHD I'm worried about the battery life, Desire Z quite difficult to find (can only purchase it from Maxis)... :-(

Any advice? I'm new to Android, current phone is Nokia 6300...

The purpose of the phone is usually for SMS, some light web-surfing, and maybe some casual gaming... That's all... Advices please from forumers?? =D
*
No problemo. If you want a keyboard, go for the Desire Z. If not, go for Desire. Absolutely keep DHD out of your list. Worst HTC I've known.< Do not say i have not personally experimented. I DID. Desires all the better with more and more custom roms and customization. Old is gold biggrin.gif

Guys I'm interested to buy over a second hand HTC Desire from someone in Singapore.

The owner say that "It's a Singapore Set, meaning The phone is unlocked for all carriers". Is there any problem / limitation using a Singapore Set in Malaysia?
I'm gonna use it for Application research and development.

Please advice. Thank you
*
Its fine. SG/MY sets are roughly the same. No problem.

Desire has higher ram. Desire wins. But if you mean by screen size, x10i win. Depends if you want high fps or big screen. Roughly the same but Desire wins overall with very good software support and also by UI.

Have fun with your x10i. I would suggest the Desire white over the x10i but since you've already bought it, then its fine. It has dual touch anyway. Having 5/6 multitouch points is useless. 3/4 is already more than enough.

QUOTE(Andrew Lim @ Jan 31 2011, 11:00 PM)
I suggest everybody to hold off their Android purchases until 18th February. Why? Because the Mobile World Congress is going to be held between 14th to 17th February. Lots of Android phones are going to be announced then (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Desire 2, etc)
*
Not necessarily. Unlike x10i which launched a year after it was announced, there are phones which launch almost immediately.

I maybe killed by the folks at Symbian subforum for posting this, but I need an opinion. I got a Nokia N8 last two weeks but then I started reading about Android. And the more I read the more I'm drawn into posting my N8 for sale in Garage Sales.  tongue.gif After reading through till posts from 1st January, it seems that
1.) The best Android at 1.5K is the Desire AP? I'm not sure I can get it at that price here in Sarawak.
2.) Sub 1K is the Optimus One? I could use the extra money after letting go of my N8.
*
For your 1st question, Captivate/Vibrant is a nice choice at that price range too. If you need the extra power on the GPU that is. Not really necessary though since Desire can handle any games too. But the SGS IS future proof. Acer Liquid Metal is a better of the two being newer and having the same proc as the Desire Z. Adreno 205 which is equivalent to a SGX535. Sadly the camera is bad but its the cheaper of the 3. Desire was crowned phone of the year for a reason. Best software support of the 3 and with a camera + flash unlike Captivate which is only an AF. I'll list down the prices
Desire(AP) 1.4-1.5k
Liquid Metal(ORI) 1.2k
Captivate/Vibrant(AP)1.5k

For the 2nd question, Optimus one is not the best but it is one of the favoured choices for a sub 1k Android. Future proof too when LG announced that its Gingerbread ready. The N8 is undoubtedly the best camera phone but if you want an android, the best camera you can get is from the XT720 in your price range smile.gif

Hope i cleared up your doubts.

Galaxy 5(RM600) or x10 mini(AP)(RM5xx). But IMO the x10 is TERRIBLE. Galaxy 5 is a better choice. For the Acer Liquid Metal/Captivate/Desire, I'll list out the main pros.

Liquid Metal- Vanilla UI(Only 3 phones has it on default), Desire Z processore(Adreno 205), Nice design, Aluminium back casing, Dedicated camera button(But sadly has a bad camera)
Captivate-SGS but much cheaper. But has no front camera. 'nuff said.
Desire- Old is gold never more accurate. Very reliable and has one of the best software support.

If you have the budget, go for Desire. If not, go for the Liquid Metal. Captivate has the same lag as SGS afaik.
