Hey guys, I want to buy an Android.

The closest thing I found was LG Optimus One P500, RM800+, with 3.2 inch screen at 320x480. Is this screen resolution too low to be compatible with a lot of game apps and other apps? I want a detailed explanation as I've never used Android before.

Any other Androids that are at least Android 2.2, and cost not more than RM1000, but is still compatible with most games and other apps?
*
O1 is your best choice. No other spec-ed phone below 1k which has a screen resolution of 320x480. Above 1k? Look at Acer Liquid Metal. RRP is £299. Quite cheap as it is using the same processor as the Desire Z. Or at 1.5k go for an AP Desire. You can also get a AP Moto Defy at RM1299.

There IS one other option. The Nexus S. Loses to SGS in GPU benchmark but its not bad. Price will drop in a month or so.

QUOTE(LightningFist @ Jan 9 2011, 02:40 AM)
I'm interested in hearing your opinion as to the differences, and certainly why you would get the Chic over the One. I only notice the Chic looks more chic than the One, that's for sure.

(my internet won't load youtube)
*
Haha i get what you mean. To your question, the Chic does seem a little more smoother compared to the O1. But, if you're in a tight budget it doesn't really matter. Why spend a few more hundred bucks to get a phone thats only a little smoother when you can just invest in something else that matters more? All in all i still root for the O1 for budget users below 1k. For the 1k-1.3k users, i suggest you wait for the Acer Liquid Metal which would probably be priced at RM1250.

The upside for the acer Liquid Metal is that the same processor used in the DZ is used here. It has a 3.6" screen(480x800) which would not be too small or too big for female users. I bet most of you all wouldn't know but.... It utilizes Vanilla UI. Sure it comes preinstalled with the Breeze but you can disable it with the click of a button in the settings. And the Breeze does take up a lot of processing as stated by a reviewer. Sadly it has a sub-par camera though.Highly recommeded

The Wildfire. Most wouldn't recommend this(I nearly bought it but i chose the Galaxy 5 instead) as the screen resolution(240x320) is low, the tft screen looks ugly and it uses a 528mhz processor. Even the O1 is a better choice compared to the Wildfire. Least recommended

The Optimus Chic. Nothing much about this model. Quite good in terms of design, and the camera is average afaik. Processor is the same as the O1 but this is a higher end model as it has a 5mp camera. Same 320x480 screen as the O1. Recommended.

Galaxy 3. The only one in this price range with a QWERTY i think. Nothing much. Plasticky feel with chrome sides. Quite nice design. I think it rests on the light side of a QWERTY. 3.2mp average camera. 240x400 iirc. Recommended for those who prefer a physical keyboard.

I guess that sums it up? Other forumers might have a better recommendation or a more valid personal point of view. Don't flame me if i get it wrong =X

Google Nexus S vs HTC Desire HD vs Samsung Galaxy S..Which one is better?? hmm.gif
I heard samsung galaxy s consume a lot battery power.. rclxub.gif
*
Nexus S wins by O.S implementation and since its a dev phone, any updates to the os, Nexus S and One will get it before ANY other phone. Vanilla always preserves battery. DHD, don't even think about it. Sure it might perform quite well and it has a big screen but the battery is one of the worst for ALL android phones. SGS, same as Nexus S but IIRC Nexus S is cheaper but the GPU on the Nexus S is weaker. Current up to date gaming only requires that much rendering power.

Liquid Metal is the best 1.2k range phones thus far. 2nd gen Snapdragon at 800mhz which is the same as the 1.9k Desire Z. And it is a farking Vanilla phone. Want me to relist the pros and cons again?
Pros:
1:Vanilla.(Means its a phone without any additional icons or skins. Its just pure android. This is what Nexus S and Nexus One uses. There is actually something called Breeze UI installed but you can disable it. Thus, granting the Vanilla)
2: 800mhz 2nd gen Snapdragon ala Desire Z
3: Dedicated camera button.(Very few Android phones have this IIRC)
4: Nice and vibrant screen though its TFT. Its a 3.6". Perfect size IMO.
5: LED notifications.
6: Nice loudspeaker
7: 800x480 at this price range is quite rare. So i guess its a pro.
8: Aluminium back cover
Cons:
1: Laggy Breeze UI. Can disable in favour of Vanilla.(95% favours vanilla doh.gif)
2: Its an Acer like people said. Personally i don't think this is much of a con as HTC and other major phone brands are Taiwan made too.

Sums it up i guess. I can't think of much cons for this phone. Perfect for its price. Comes with 8gb microSD from gtrowa.

Not necessarily you have to sign contract to surf internet everywhere. Just get a data plan and its all well. If you can't get the phone you want then don't. If you don't mind, go for available phones. IMO for Maxis you should go for Motorola DEFY. flex.gif Waterproof and shockproof is quite alluring.

Impossible for your specs at that price range. What you pay is what you get. If possible you can go for installment, increase ur budget by another 500 and get the Liquid Metal. Another option is the Optimus One with no flash player. Touch Wiz is for Samsung phones only. Its a preinstalled UI.

Desire. Better software support and definitely has Gingerbread upcoming in a few months. Multitouch as an added function for most games and smoother web browsing. Better build and more compact.
