Not much choices. Dual core phones probably wouldn't be in your price range. I need to know much more. Are you just a casual user or are you a business centric guy that uses his phone all the time for PDF/Document or e-mails. Tell me about what you seek in the phone or i might not be able to recommend you anything at all.

Is Sony Xperia X10 Mini Pro worth to buy?

Any cons for it?

Thanks

Not worth it. For the price of an Ori unit, the Samsung Galaxy 3 is much more worth if you need QWERTY. For the AP price though, its worth. But overall the phone is a 4/10. Wouldn't recommend it. Get the Optimus One instead.

Sadly with the old gen processor its not a nice buy. Maybe for low end models. It certainly pwns Optimus on in terms of processing power though. Assuming you have the extra dough to go with it. Nais move by Samsung. BUT, unless they confirm Gingerbread for it, its still a piece of junk in 6 months or so.

Android with no update is not a piece of junk.  Not all users need the latest and the greatest Android OS version.  Imagine all those older generation Android phones like Hero, Legend, etc, you mean they are all just pieces of junk now?  I'm sure casual phone users don't really mind or care about OS version, only the semi-techy ones do, and that's like what, 10% of the Android phone user population?  smile.gif

Sadly. By far, those who bought Android phones are mostly tech enthusiasts. Casual ones at least. It won't be junk but it will be really left out.

Was wondering I need a new phone..... What is the cheapest and DECENT android phone that I can buy right now?

1. Brand: Anything.
2. Budget: Lower the better <600... In fact 500 is already too much......
3. Specs: At least 2.1 or 2.2 and can load Custom firmware (UNLIKE Motorola Mielstone) with a decent community support.
4. What you need in the phone: Decent multi touch, UI anything but not crappy, don't want QWERTY and the always hard factor: decent battery life.

PS: I know I doubt I can find an Android this cheap without it being problematic..... But I think u guys can try...........
*
Nah we can't do a thing. There isn't one at that price range. For the specs you need, around RM860 for the Optimus one. Decent community support and there is the Gingerbread ready thing.

Hi all android sifus here.. would like to request some recommendations here.. xD
1. Brand. any..
2. Budget. (700-950)
3. Specs. (Processor / RAM / OS Version / screen size)
4. What you need in the phone

Basically my phone usage is just SMS, call sometimes, a lil' bit of gaming out of boredom, and also surf web/facebooking/tweeting via WiFi (no to 3G/etc.. need to pay xD)
sometimes checking/sync-ing emaill too if possible (via WiFi as well..)

I'm currently looking at both LG OP1 and Samsung Galaxy Ace, the Galaxy's design attracted me but it was rumored that it's around 256-386 of RAM only.. so which one should i go after? Or there is any other budget-tight Android phone? I'm currently using Nokia N79 with Symbian S60v3.. and I must say, I can't stand keypad+symbian phone anymore.. lol.

also another recommendation request for my friend

1. Brand. HTC/Samsung
2. Budget. (1300-2500)
3. Specs. (Processor / RAM / OS Version / screen size)
4. What you need in the phone

basically about the same usage as me, but maybe lesser. Higher priority on gaming experience..

Thanks!
*
Galaxy ace is better than the OP1 period. But with Gingerbread confirmed, i can't say the O1 isn't a catch. For your friend, just go for the SGS/Captivate since Dual cores aren't gonna have the amount of native dual core apps as we single cores do now.

SGS2 HTC Incredible S are the only upcoming ones. Dual cores wouldn't be fully implemented for at least another year. Not worth splurging cash over those now unless the difference is ~200

4. Prefer the system running fast lol.

so... Any idea?
Some suggest me SE Xperia X8, X10 mini, or Samsung Galaxy 5, but all those my fren own it d. tongue.gif

Optimus one at RM850. Or SGAce at 960. SGACE can beat those phones with the 800mhz proc if i'm not mistaken, is capable of Flash10.1.

milestone 2 (a bit bulky, great specs), defy (good specs, syok to hold but high SAR rating) or desire (accs availability, great specs but loudspeaker not loud enuf?) ???

or wait for xperia pro?
*
If QWERTY is a must, i say get Droid 2 Global if you don't need a better GPU. Desire also has the same GPU as the Droid 2 global. Which is not really adequate for future(6 months or so) gaming. Defy is okay. IMO go for Xperia Pro if you're more enterprise centered or Xperia Play if you game a lot.

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Feb 25 2011, 07:31 AM)
Gratia selling for RM1259 here.  Selling point would probably be design, brand and HTC Sense UI.  Otherwise OP1 and SGAce would be much cheaper.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1456101/+1280
*
Gratia/Aria is not recommended at all. Sense/brand is hardly a selling point cept to those brand chasers. Go for the Liquid Metal at the same price with much much better specs.

If you're not in a hurry in getting it, why not wait till the new line of refresh from HTC? The DesireS is quite a nice phone with the upgraded GPU and proc. Your budget might be higher in April(Official release should be around May/June for Malaysia) and IMO it wouldn't go above RM 2.2k since the Incredible S might sail ashore to us. New flagship device for HTC oughta be the Incredible S.

dear sifu can u explain the pros n cons of owning the upcoming samsung galaxy s II? i recently sold my iphone 3gs to a fren of mine. currently using an old mobile phone so jus wanna know if its worth the buy. budget is not a prob. mainly use is for online, entertainment n music. coz im used to iphone way of getting the apps, jailbreak n stuff...ppl say android is muhc better OS. hopefully getting a good comment from u. can PM me if u wan too. don mind n thanks!
*
Sure. Gonna reach Malaysian shore by June or so unless you don't mind buying AP or imported sets. I'll list down the pros and cons. I'll list down a few other phones too for reference.

SGS2
Pros: S-AMOLED+(If you don't know about it, go look it up. You'll be fascinated)
Dual core 1ghz Exynous chip
At 4.3 inch, 800x480 might not seem as detailed but the S-AMOLED oughta make up for it.
8mp camera. Most new dual core phones seem to have 8mp.
There will be more custom roms compared to other brands like LG/SE and those sort.
Quite slim for a dual core phone
Front camera

Cons: Exynos chip, according to benchmark is slower than Tegra 2. Not that much that is matters but there might be a difference if compared side to
side
Touchwiz. 'nuff said.
Samsung's favoured way of once sold, i don't give a shiat about your software update.
Supposed build quality is plasticky.
Dual core native apps or even the dual core procs wouldn't be fully implemented for at least another year.

HTC Desire S
Pros: Software updates are actually present.
For being a refreshed line, the build quality should be superior.
One of the better single core procs.
Favourable regular sized phone.
Front camera

Cons: Yesteryear processor. Not catching up to trends.
5mp camera
SLCD screen.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play

Pros: Sony Playstation certified phones.
Physical PS esque controls.
Individual developer market for games
One of the better single core procs
Beautiful

Cons: Build quality is average. Nothing fancy.
Costs A LOT!
