well, if your current modem supports 7.2mbps, connecting to hspa+ network will definitely allows you to hit the 7.2mbps speed smile.gif

dont think the plans would be expensive. i'm thinking of the price for the hspa+ modem/dongle itself! tongue.gif

so basically the modem is yours immediately after signup.

(handphone image)
prepaid = prepaid voice plan + ubroadband tag-on <-- prepaid credit must be enough to subscribe each plan
postpaid = postpaid voice plan + ubroadband tag-on <-- each plan's price will be calculated together with voice during bill cycle (voice + data)

laptop (image) = ubroadband data-only (no voice call functionality) <-- similar to postpaid but without voice. u will get the monthly bills for data-usage

prepaid/postpaid + ubroadband can be used on 3G modem too, but i think it's more targeted for mobile devices usage (phone).

laptop data-only sim is more of full-time broadband using 3G modem (for those who dont need voice plans).

eXPeri3nc3, do you have any existing modem?

if yes, use your existing Umobile prepaid and purchase UB68 plan. Test it for a month or two.

dont think there is bill for ubroadband/prepaid

"hsdpa" is just the network capability.

performance is subjective to location, time of usage, and traffic (and many other factors).

if you consistently getting 30kbps (day/night across many days), better to call CS to find out why the poor performance.

only they can help to investigate and find out what's wrong.

unless you have already hit the quota smile.gif

But will check throughout these few days and see. Thanks biggrin.gif

this is not normal.

call CS immediately.

some users here were also facing similar problem after signing up.

QUOTE(shirley_andy @ Oct 30 2010, 06:21 PM)
sometimes I fail to connect then I have to disconnect the modem and reconnect it to try again only it succeed... is anything wrong? or normal?
*
that depends.

if it is too frequent, not good.

again, call CS too.

guys/gals, if you face unusual problem, call CS. let them know you are facing problem and they will keep a record of it.

if same problem happen too much, hopefully they noticed this and begin fixing them from their side.

if we dont call them, they will nvr know.

help them to help us back.

So far I'm very satisfied with the service, only thing bad is the poor upload speed sad.gif

yup!

let's wait for the super highspeed "up to" 42mbps package. will see how high is the speed (down and up)

last month. found out from speedtest.net on their earlier (possibly) testing of the highspeed:

anywhere within umobile 3g coverage is hsdpa speed.

the variables for the performance is subjective... depends on location, time of usage, and traffic (and many other factors).

if in doubt, get Prepaid and topup to enough credit to subscribe the broadband plans.

then test it for few weeks.

hmmm, is there any return policy for U Mobile?
i mean if I subscribe the U68, but then the signal is ppoooor, will they refund me for the fees? I just curious biggrin.gif
*
so far no return policy. i thnk very troublesome to do especially u get broadband via prepaid. if data-only broadband, need calculations to refund u the balance.

that y i always recommend getting prepaid pack then subscribe broadband.

u get flexibility and cheaper call rates too .

1) TAC delay most of the time are delayed from the banks. CIMB Clicks is the worst, next to M2U.

for me, TAC works fine.

2) MCN is working. last i call their CS, you can enable both missed acll and voicemail separately. Have you check with CS recently?

ipoh congested most probably because some % of ppl overusing the bandwidth. this problem happens to all service providers, not just umobile.

in my case, maxis is the worst. next is digi. p1 wimax almost unusable. celcom, nvr bother to try with their crappy plans/speed.
