in case you want to DIY instead to bringing your n900 to service center - refer to attached PDF document and Excel Sheets.

* some files requires renaming from .001.doc to just .001 and unzipping
* the documents and photos belongs to Nokia© and the other respective owners

RX_51_N900_Service.zip.001.doc
RX_51_N900_Service.zip.002.doc
RX_51_N900_Service.zip.003.doc
RX_51_N900_Service.zip.004.doc

i) download all 4 files
ii) rename all to just zip.001, zip.002 and so on by removing the .doc
iii) use winzip / winrar (no, i mean the real winRAR) to unzip 2 Excel Sheets.

There are actual service manual in detail, please use them wisely. I am not responsible for any damage or injury.

So it makes no much difference than an iPhone on its video calls...
Front camera available = useless
and weird why do world users not complaining this issue and pressure them to develop firmwares to support video calls...
*
The difference is the hardware support 3G calls just the software/firmware doesnt. Maybe the next firmware they will allow it

video call on n900 can be made using skype video call for pr 1.2..u can make video calls for free (as long u connected to internet) to any skype users around the world (n900 to pc and n900 to other phone provided that the other phone has a skype installed)

i personally test the function since the pr 1.2 update. made a video skype call with my friend in the UK and the quality was amazing..the video was crisp no lagging whatsoever and the voice was clear too

Well...
Nokia is involved in patient game right now. They haven't released a high end phone for a while. My guess is they are trying to perfect MeeGo as much as they can.The next phone will be make or break for them. They have to market the os as much as they can.

haha nice one. Is it so hard to type in google? I think its easier than go to forum.lowyat.net then go to mobile phone section then go to Standard OS and other Specific Discussion then go to nokia n900 thread then post his question

If you ask me, I would say, video call is not important for me, hardware is there, maybe there's 3rd party software for it, as I know so far, we could use it for MSN video chat, but, I haven't utilize it, like I said, it's not important for me. maybe others might be able to confirm if you could uses the 3rd party software.  =)

peace!

Video call is important... Imagine:-
1)Make a video call to check where ur gf is... By pretending miss her or in fact u do miss her
2)Youre at a supermarket.. Mum asking u to buy goodies... Ure unsure of which 1 and u can show her to confirm

For msn/skype video call im not saying its not good
But for those who never subscribe for unlimited internet usage dont u think the charges are a little more expensive?!?
