EDITED: Opss.. looks like I've written a story here. Skip to the pictures part if you lazy to read.

Just wanna show off my personal school holiday project here. Started on 19 Nov and finished on 22 Nov. Just for your information, my dad owns a car workshop therefore I can use his tools for free.

First Day:
Yay! Last day of school!! lol. Just after school, my brother straight drove me to nearby junkyard to find heatsink. And yeap, I found my heatsink there smile.gif Back to workshop and start cleaning it. Then went to shop to get hose, hose connector and fish tank waterpump. Back to workshop again, I cut hose connector into half. Brother helped me to drill hole on an aluminum sheet to fit in the connetor a.k.a nipple and 'weld' it to the heatsink using metal epoxy and gasket gum *see pictures and you'll understand*. While waiting for it to dry, I go and look for radiator at the workshop and I found an aircond condenser taken out from a Toyota KE70 (its super big compared to a proper WC radiator). Well, I have no choice but to use it cos I wanna keep the cost as low as possible. I cleaned the inside using soap water then petrol and finally tap water to rinse it. After that, painted the side cos its abit dirty. The waterblock *or better known as heatsink+aluminum* metal epoxy dried and I to connect everything and let it run for the whole night.

Second Day:
Came to workshop to check if the waterblock is leaking anot and yes, it leaked cry.gif Ahhh, time for more metal epoxy and gasket gum. Brother 'close' the hole with more epoxy and gum then let it dry overnight.

Third Day:
Tested the waterblock and still leaking abit when pressure was applied to the water inside. What to do? Metal epoxy again! This time my brother coverer the whole side with metal epoxy to make sure its not leaking anymore. In the evening, the waterblock is tested with pressure and its not leaking anymore thumbup.gif Then I went to buy thermal greese.

Forth Day:
Since we started this project, we never have an idea on how to mount the waterblock to the cpu rclxub.gif rclxub.gif Tried to mount it and it touches the electronics on the mobo because its too big. Have no choice but to elevate it abit. Remember the gold RM1 syilling? Well, it is sanded down to a mirror-like-surface and put between the waterblock and cpu. It acts as an elevation object. Now waterblock doesn't touch anything anymore. Thermal greese was applied to the cpu and the syilling. Syilling on cpu first then waterblock on the syilling. The waterblock is mounted using a simple steel wire *see pictures*. The whole system is connected and check for leaks again. Hoorayy! it works!!!!!!

Cost:
Heatsink - RM6
2 metres hose - RM1.60
2 hose connectors - RM7.60
Fish tank waterpump - RM17
Tuniq TX-2 Thermal Greese - RM15
Reservoir - My baby turtle pindah rumah already, so I curi his old house *freebies*
Radiator/ KE70 aircond condenser - Taken from customer's car *freebies*
Metal epoxy and gasket gum - Available at workshop *freebies*
Aluminum sheet, petrol, screw, steel wire, tools, etc - Available at workshop *freebies*

Total: RM47.20 rclxm9.gif

*ps: note the side of the waterblock got abit black stuff, that is the metal epoxy.

Results? *All are taken with home aircond turned on*

Before WC : Idle

Before WC : Under load

After WC : Idle and under load almost the same. Ranging from 2-6 degree

And epic finale : Ice water! icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

The water on the reservoir is cold due to the aircond. If aircond wasn't turned on, it will be around 30-35C under load.

Another successful project! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif
