No, i think he meant to ask why the SA said there is EBD and BA in the 1.6EX when it doesnt have right? The 1.6EX only has ABS i believe. The 1.6SX has the ABS, EBD and BA.

Of course. Its part of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) package. Both the 1.6SX and 2.0SX have the same braking systems & features except for the additional airbags in the 2.0SX

The same reason why they have Wira's and Kancil's as police cars too.

can any forte 2.0 owner share their FC here? tbh, i haven't been seeing much info on this.

to me, FC is among the top criteria for me because i am a heavy on car use.
*
The reason for that is probably due to the fact that since the car is new, its fuel consumption figures will not be accurate. It will need to be run in properly before you can make an accurate assessment. Only those who got the car late last year or early this year will be able to provide an accurate assessment.

U can make a rough assessment based on the 0-100kmph acceleration for the same category of car. Meaning if an Altis 1.8 takes 10secs and the Forte takes 12secs, the most probably the Forte's fuel consumption is slightly higher than the Altis.

The reasoning behind this is that the 0-100kmph dash is a reflection of the power:weight ratio of the car which is derived from the efficiency of the engine & the transmission.

But this is just a general application in order to roughly assume fuel consumption rates. And its only applicable for cars of the same engine capacity or close. So it can be used for cars within the 1.5-1.8L category. But many other factors also affect the fuel consumption data so its always difficult to pin down a single determining factor.

Cheers!

Why we have the PULLING TO THE LEFT PROBLEM on ALL CONTINENTAL CARS
OK... time for me to explain why continental cars have the Pulling to the left problem... Don't ask me to rectify the problem because I am in no position to do so. Not even the local distributors can do it. Just understand the problem and do what we can from our end...  You see guys, these CONTINENTAL cars are made for left hand drive... Not right hand drive... So, to make the car right hand drive, they have to take the left hand drive model and modify it... All continentals are made that way because the market for right hand drives are too small to have it manufactured that way.  When the car is LHD, it drives on the right hand side of the road. Roads in Europe are slanted slightly towards the right for the water to flow away when it rains. All cars are made to pull a little to the left to compensate for the slant, which is a standard bushing part used. They don't have the bushing for RHD models. Don't ask me why... they just don't have it.  When the cars are being modified to the RHD market, plus our roads are slanted slightly towards the left for the water to flow away, we get a big pull to the left. This applies to ALL European cars as they did nothing to overcome this problem.  So, the only way to rectify it is to go to a good tyre shop who understands this problem and get them to toe in the front caster so that the car feels straight. My car feels straight on an even road but there is still a slight pull to the left when the road is slanted, especially on highways.  Generally, I am happy with this, as this is the best they can do.

i've been explaining this to members until the cow fell down....... hahaha
it just is and like is recommended get a sifu to kautim for you ....  thumbup.gif

Oh yeah, I drove from Johor (Batu Pahat) to Penang (Island) last week, starting the journey with full tank. I drove on a trunk road for ~1hr before reaching highway (at Pagoh). I also made a detour to KL Auto and also experienced a little bit of slow traffic. The rest of the journey was smooth on PLUS highway.

When I reached Penang the trip meter read 650km, and I had another 1/8 tank left! The "distance to empty" was at "120km", so I think probably with full tank the car will last >770km on highway...

The average fuel consumption was at "6.5L/100km".

I used BHP RON95. I don't know why this fuel is so smooth and good! Right now with Vpower97 the pickup is lousy!

Thats really good fuel consumption if u ask me. Your average fuel consumption was 15.3km/L. My Vios only managed to get 15km/L for 100% highway driving.

From my understanding, the "SUNWAY TOLL" should be labelled as "BALANCE or DISTANCE TO EMPTY". Make sense right?

Anyway, my 2.0 Forte recorded 6.1L/100km for 90% highway driving from Kangar to Duta Toll as showed by pic below. Worth to note that i got this figure by mostly autocruising at 110km/h with some overtaking maneuver for less than 130km/h (light footed) with 3 adults (including driver), 2 of my children in the car & with boot almost full with things. I filled my tank with Petronas RON95 that time. I consider that as a very good FC for a normal aspirated 2.0 engine (even better than my previous 4G18P 1.6L Waja Auto). I wonder the FC if my Forte uses a 5 speeder auto as in North America version or perhaps a newly introduced 6 speeder auto as used in Sonata/Optima  rolleyes.gif

went to kia SC today....for 2.0 must wait 3 month!!!! so long ah? for 1.6 now only got spicy red (but my eyes see it as maroon??)...for titanium silver must wait at least 1 month....hmmm

i prefer titanium silver or metal bronze than the so called spicy red. bt only for that colour, they offer 5 years waranty, full bodykit, free TnG, free full tinted and other freebies like steering lock all......so is the 5 years warranty worth it? coz i think to maintain the waranty status, u need to service with them, n they charge extremely expensive?

latest interest rate i get is 3.25 from public bank ipoh....7 years...jb lowest for 7 years is 3.7.....why got so much different? anyone know?
*
Wow 3.25% eh? Dunno why all this Naza and Proton interest rates always more than foreign makes. They should also absorb like Toyota and Honda. Now both of them offering about 2.9% for 7 yrs loan only.

total 605KM
So meaning he drove 605km with 43.7L of fuel. Thats mixed driving with 55% highway and 45% city. So his consumption was 13.8km/L only la. So the consumption is kinda normal la. Vios is 13km/L for 100% city and 15km/L for 100% highway and that also ppl say is not good.

Can anybody provide fuel consumption figures for 100% city driving? Thats when ull see just how good the consumption is because its known fact that high cc cars consume less fuel on highways compared to lower cc cars at the same speed. But different story for city driving.

Dont forget the fuel meter drops much slower in the first half compared to the 2nd half. The reason is because the max reading of the meter doesnt reflect the max amount of fuel in the tank and in the fuel hoses which are consumed first before the needle starts to drop.

Using your consumption in the 1st half tank to assume u can cover the same distance with the 2nd half is wrong and inaccurate. Same for all cars. best way to measure consumption is by the 'fill-measure-use-fill again-measure' system which u did in your last post.

Cheers!

do you know forte weight how much? and for SX got spare rim tyre? and 17" always consume more.
forte stock rim also 11KG each?

mine (stock condition) 100% highway = 643KM (with estimated 73KM remaining). so i can conclude 650KM before empty tank indicator light up.

never experience 100% city coz its subjective. (it depends where u stay, how many traffic light, traffic condition, city A differ from city B. PJ cannot compare with KL and same goes to Alor Star)

100% city with heavy traffic at least 500KM (when empty tank light up). majority can hit 550KM and some complaint only get 450KM. all depends on your foot lah.
*
Of course i know everything depends on driving habits la. When we talk about fuel consumption here its on the basis that uve tried your best to achieve best fuel economy. Same as me. Although my vios full tank (42L) can take me 550km in the city but i dont get that because i drive fast as my fuel aint paid by me.

No point giving figures when fuel light lights up. Different cars can tahan longer. How much is your consumption for 100% city driving in KL?

as i said. never experienced that in KL. most of the time i'm in PJ/Damansara area.
if talk KL i expect you're in the golden triangle and mostly in city center.

how many inch your rim? what is the weight?

actually never interested to argue with you. different segment and obviously vios is very much lighter compare to others.
laugh.gif

p/s: when i said indicator lamp light up. means we should use 44L as full tank calculation (roughly). not 52L.
*
This is not a discussion to compare with whatever car la. I just wanna know whats the fuel consumption for 100% city driving in Kl/PJ or whatever la. No big difference between KL and PJ ok. U can get stuck for 2 hrs even on Federal HW.

So whats your figures like?

Eh instead of driving around here and there and wasting fuel, why dont u drive around and look for some properties to invest in la. Ure just like a small kid with a new toy la. In about 1 yrs time, ull realise that a car is just to get u from A to B when all the hype and excitement is gone. In another 10 yrs ull realise that despite having a good car, many others would have overtaken you in terms of physical assets and work knowledge. If ure young now, try doing another degree or working yerself up the corporate ladder la. Why focus so much on a car? If u wanna have some discussions here then fine no problem. But to the extent of organising road trips here and there?...common la.

Just my 2 cents. Sorry if i offended anybody.

the most practical way is to own saga. why u waste your money in paying extra interest charge for overpriced car?
*
Practicality also involves PEACE OF MIND. I wouldnt get that driving a Proton as i and about a million other Malaysians have had bad experiences there which we do not want to repeat. Also a Saga wont give me a relatively comfortable ride on long distance trips as the Vios has for the past 7.5 yrs. Again practicality. It covers many factors. But practicality does not cover the sports rims of your car or going on some silly around malaysia road show just to show the world u have a Forte. Thats silly and a waste opf time and money if u ask me. But then again im sure others will not agree.

i had done a few times of 'fill-measure-use-fill again-measure' for FC, the average is more of less same with the FC calculator in the forte dashboad, so i now always depends on the average FC on the dashboard as my benchmark.

100% highway, the best i got is 6.5~7l/km = 14~15km/l

50% Highway+50%city(JB), i got 8~8.5l/km = 11.5~12.5km/l

Added on October 5, 2010, 11:31 am

yes agreed, forte is relatively more comfortable ride then Vios because of it space and the high tech stuff i enjoyed, that y i choose forte over vios.
*
What speed was your highway drive? Thats important factor as well. And yes compared to the Vios, the Forte is surely much better.
