Strange, mine here works like this.

Mini on with bluetooth, and my logitech is on too. No symbol at this moment.
When I make/receive a call, the symbol sometimes will appear and sometimes not.
Then after I'm done with the call, sometimes the symbol remain there and sometimes it disappear.

Another thing I want ro confirm is, if I receive a call when my bluetooth handsfree is on, if I press the answer key in my mini, izzit normal that the call will be automatically answer from the phone and not the bluetooth handsfree? Just want to assure only, expert pls comment.

I m quite a baby still in this IT savy world of yours. Unfortunately, I have crazy colleagues who keep convincing me to buy the mini O2 to keep my data, information and phone features in one device.

So now, is this mini O2 a user friendly device so that i can learn to use it in a short period of time? The three of us intends to buy the mini together next week, would we be entitled to some sort of a discount?

If I activated the wifi feature, does it mean that i can receive email at places like starbucks and coffee bean?

I ve also heard comments that I shd wait for the 3g fone to come out before buying the mini O2. whats your comment?

however, i kinda fall in love with the size of the mini O2. Please help with your points of view, i know the questions are rather stupid but i'll appreciate each and every one of them. Thanks

I have a feeling it depends on what headset is paired with the Mini. Maybe other Mini users who also use a BT headset can shed some light on this? Mine, as I mentioned stays there (the headphone like symbol), until I switch off the BT on either one of the units.

Mini is quite user friendly, as I believe most of us are familiar with the desktop version of the Windows, and the Mini uses a mobile version of it. So you'll get used to it pretty fast. Just don't expect it to function like the normal phones with keypads that we're so used to.

WiFi, you need to buy an additional WiFi SD card, and that'll set you back another RM 300 + at the minimum. With that only you can use WiFi as the Mini by default does not come equipped with WiFi.

3G phone, well depends on what are your needs. 3G is basically about higher data speed compared to the current supported speed. If you don't use much of the data services now, will you use it when 3G services are available? When I saw current data services, I mean GPRS and EDGE. Do you use them often? If no, do you forsee yourself using them if 3G is eventually available?

And I'm almost sure that it's pretty hard to get discounts when you're buying multiple sets of Mini, as this is a hot item, and dealers know that no matter how high the price, there still would be people buying it.

i installed a game called 'warring states' into my mini and when i try to start it, a page came out and ask me to download some visual basic stuff before i can play the game....the link to download the files is dead

i tried downloading from microsoft but wat i got was not an installation file but a lot of unknown files

anyone can help me with this embedded visual basic runtime thing??

Looks like your Logitech Bluetooth Headset and your O2 Mini dont go too well, considering sonyclie77's headset and O2 Mini is tuned at all times until he switches off the Bluetooth on either side.

The shop is in Klang town... called the KTS. I dont think you can 'hutang' them though k? I could cause they know my family personally and we've been buying phones from them since ages ago. Not sure if you could get it for RM2500 without mentioning my cousin's big name though.

To answer your questions. You dont need to be IT savvy to use an O2 Mini. You should understand INSTALL and REMOVE programs though. And if you know how to use Microsoft Outlook with e-mails, contacts, notes and appointment, you should have no problem handling the O2 Mini.

3G phones are coming out. I dont know how it will compare to O2. If you run on WiFi, O2 is cheaper. If you run on GPRS, I'm not sure cause I dont know the charges for GPRS nor 3G but I'll assume 3G is more expensive - as usual, the newer the technology, it will always cost more.

At last, I've figure the bluetooth thingy already. Nothing went wrong on my mini or my logitech freedom.
The symbol indeed will remain there UNLESS i click on it and a window will pop out saying that 'Bluetooth Hands-free is on.' with and option button to 'Close'. If I press the button, the symbol will disappear. But if I tab some where else beside the button, the symbol will remain.
Eventually the symbol will once again appear when I'm making a new call the next time.
Makes me . But now I'm kekeke

Still haven't familiar with those preloaded softwares by the shop keeper, but I'm planning to pay them a visit and ask them to load a set of it into my Kingmax 512mb SD. And in the same time, ask them to teach me 1 by 1, hopefully they will....

All of a sudden, I'm wondering whether the SD card can be removed when the Mini is turn on?

Beside that, what is the different between by pressing the power button to turn off the screen and leaving it till the backlight turn off automatically? Which will comsume more battery?

Anybody know how to active the speakerphone for this Mini? How the SQ?

SD Card? well i just plug it in/out whether the mini is on or off, coz even if it's off, when u plug in/out the SD Card, mini will lit up itself, but just close any application, or file explorer which are accesing resources from the SD Card before u pull out the SD Card

lol.. pressing or leave it till it turns off= just the same, to go in2 standby mode.
just that if u no longer use mini's function at the mo, press the power button to make it go standby mode faster, save more battery life perhaps?

during a Call, press n hold the call button/green symbol button till the msg pop out at the top, usually where notifications will appear, displayin speaker phone is on, with the appropriate icon/symbol

The nature of your mobile account, either prepaid or postpaid has got nothing to do with it being able to use WiFi or not. Rather, its more hardware related.

For the Mini, you just need to purchase an extra SD WiFi card to use your Mini at Hotspots around town. Many places in Bangsar is a Hotspot I believe, but its best to check with your wireless service provider.


3G would most probably be expensive at its initial stage. Having said that, not many would take up the technology, save for early adopters. So unless you have a 'need for speed' in terms of data, you might not find 3G that useful for you, especially in the initial few months where only a handful are using it.
