Well phobian you can actually choose where you want to collect the unit nearnest to your location. After you had summit your application you can call to them ans they will ask you where you want the unit to be collect rathen FMG there had few distry and authorise reseller you can look at O2's home page.

For the 256MB SD ram its come together with the unit. Kingston SDRam not bad at least it come with a good brand ram instate of some cheap plug MMC.

Cos if without the 256MB ram you unit actually only left 7.5Mb of usable ram after all application was loaded once startup so its likely to be said its useless without the External Ram.

In the package the here are the things that come along.

1 Main unit
1 Litium Iron Battery
1 AC adapter
2 Stylus
1 Stereo wired headset with microphone
1 Lather Carrying case
1 USB cable for charging and data synchronisation
1 Companion CD (contains Microsoft® Outlook® 2002 and Microsoft® ActiveSync® 3.7.1)
1 User manual
1 Quick start guide
1 256MB SD memory card (Mine are Kingston)

Cheers.

since when Mini got 256MB SDram by kingston? if so it wud be blazin fast, beatin all the rest of ppcs in the market flat hands down yada yada yada whistling.gif
mini only got built in 64MB RAM and 64MB Flash ROM, and it comes bundled wif 256MB SD Card.. where got EXTERNAL RAM shocking.gif

the bundled 256MB SD Card is meant as/for storage purporse, and yes the mini got built in allocated of 7.56MB of storage space

for the Mini to run, it relies on the on board 64MB of RAM, but only 57.41MB available to user and, the 64MB Flash ROM IIANM is used for storing the OS etc...only 7.56MB available to user as storage.

cheers. just my spamcents. tongue.gif

Thanks for the clarification but the SD ram Card doesn't means the SR ram use on PCs . only the Ram call SD Flash Card.

Indeed the 256MB ram are for storage and its indeed ack as an external Ram where you can toke the ram out if you like  cool.gif There are 64MB Ram of share memory compare to 128MB for O2 XDA IIs. But i use to have all the thing to be store at the SD card to free up the internal storage incase of unnecessary situation. Cos the 7.5MB can't fit even a small movie clip. cry.gif

mana ade external RAM,the 256MB is a Flash type memory for storage.. not for running task la! so whether u got plug in the 256MB or not, mini still use the 57.41MB RAM for it's operation purposes. and Flash type memory is a form of EEPROM...so how can it be RAM pulak? whistling.gif
ur mixin up the facts smile.gif

All of a sudden, I'm wondering whether the SD card can be removed when the Mini is turn on?

Beside that, what is the different between by pressing the power button to turn off the screen and leaving it till the backlight turn off automatically? Which will comsume more battery?

Anybody know how to active the speakerphone for this Mini? How the SQ?
*
SD Card? well i just plug it in/out whether the mini is on or off, coz even if it's off, when u plug in/out the SD Card, mini will lit up itself, but just close any application, or file explorer which are accesing resources from the SD Card before u pull out the SD Card

lol.. pressing or leave it till it turns off= just the same, to go in2 standby mode.
just that if u no longer use mini's function at the mo, press the power button to make it go standby mode faster, save more battery life perhaps? tongue.gif

during a Call, press n hold the call button/green symbol button till the msg pop out at the top, usually where notifications will appear, displayin speaker phone is on, with the appropriate icon/symbol

Thanks for the reply, it works!

Got myself a SE S700i original waist pouch from BB Plaza for RM 35 and it fits just nice for my mini.

Can anyone confirm that how many dailed/received/missed calls can this mini record? All are independent memory or share all in 1?

I remember someone said that there is a Profile software for this mini which will work like those in Nokia/SE. Where can I download it? Freeware or what?
*
dialled/received/missed = dunno coz me most prolly will hard reset once in a while tongue.gif
PocketZenPhone and O2Plus iianm are few of it.

Hi,

I am very new to PDA. In fact, just got myself a Mini O2, which in my opinion it is a piece of fine art with high technical specifications.

I wonder how do I upload applications to the Mini O2? What kind of programs, ActiveSync 3.8 is required? And also what is the file extension that could be run on the platform? Same thing like .exe for desktop?

Hope someone can provide some guide lines.

Thanks for reading.

QUOTE
A Packing Problem
You need the CPU to write things into the Frame Buffer.  Since a pixel is 16 bits and the CPU really likes to deal with data 32 bits at a time you just write 2 pixels at once.  This makes everything happy.  But what would happen if you had 18 bits per pixel?  The first pixel would line up on a boundary that the CPU is happy with.  But the next one wouldn't.  Neither would the one after that.  Things wouldn't line up again until the 16th pixel.  So, 15 out of every 16 pixels are handled in a way that's really inefficient for the CPU.  18 bits just don't fit together well in a world of 32s.

For this reason, the RGB 666 pixel format (18 bit) just doesn't exist.  It's not natively supported in any operating system I'm aware of.  Not CE, XP, Mac, Unix, Palm, or Symbian.

But wait.  There's a competitor's phone out right now that advertises having a 262144 color screen.  They must support 18 bit color, right?  Actually, no they don't.  They support 24 bit color, and then they throw away the data from 6 of the extra 8 bits.

Have you ever tried to fit two suitcases into a trunk only to find that they're just a tiny bit too big to fit?  What did you do?  Most likely, you put a smaller suitcase in the extra space.  But what if you didn't have a smaller suitcase?  In that case, you probably put the one suitcase in the trunk and left a lot of wasted space around it.  That's what's happening with anyone who is supporting an 18 bit screen.  Because the 18 bits don't pack together well, they leave empty space around them.

Enough mumbo jumbo.  What does this really mean?
It comes down to this.  If you want to make use of those extra colors, your frame buffer needs to be either 50% or 100% bigger than it is now.  Filling that frame buffer will be correspondingly 50% to 100% slower.  Things that require the screen be updated frequently (watching movies, taking pictures, playing games) will go slower.  Games in particular, are hard hit.  Games based on the old Game API (GAPI) will need to do a slow conversion, or they won't work at all.  Newer DirectDraw games will do better, but will still be slower on a 24 bit system than on a 16 bit one.

Windows CE supports both forms of 24 bit color (24 and 32 bits).  If an OEM really wants to "make use" of that 18 bit screen, they can.  The question you need to be asking yourselves, however, is whether or not it's worth the cost.  Is a marginally better image worth slower graphics?

It is my belief that the tradeoff isn't worthwhile.  I see this as a marketing battle, not a technical one.  The competition wants to put the bigger number in their bullet points so they can be "better" even though, in my opinion at least, it makes them worse.

Here's a quick and dirty desktop app written by one of our hardware guys.  It lets you load a 24 bit image and compare it to what it would look like in 18 and 16 bit.  Because it's so hard to see a difference, the app also shows a 12 bit image.  Nothing does 12 bit anymore, but you can look at the faults in that image to give you an idea where to look for differences in the 16 and 18 ones.  The App requires that you have .net 2.0 installed.  Sorry, it's what we had handy on short notice.  You can decide for yourself whether the differences in 18 and 16 bit are worth the corresponding ram and speed costs.

Format the whole thing? Just do a hard reset. Hold Camera+Power buttons and press the soft reset button at the bottom of your mini. smile.gif  smile.gif
Once you convert you tone into wav, put them into the Mini's windows folder. As for internet, you'll have to configure your mini and PC together to detect each other. The manual teaches you how to do it on page 100. Too many steps for me to explain. sweat.gif
You can use the ringtones which are stored in the STORAGE CARD. 2 ways. One is by downloading the patch which once installed can assign any mp3 as ringtone just by tapping and holding the file then tapping set as ringtone on the pop up menu. The other way is by using the registry editor software and changing the path. I personally wouldn't recommend this as when someone calls you while your Mini is on power save mode, instead of hearing your assigned ringtone, you'll get the "windows default" ringtone. Best is to store you ringtones into storage folder. Then no problems... thumbup.gif

camera button?
hard reset is just press and hold power button+(soft) reset button at the bottom(use the stylus to poke it) tongue.gif

no, AFAIK coz the HTC magician aka mini uses the MS Bluetooth stack which has limited profile functionality, hence BT audio gateway is not supported( which is required for streaming audio files to the BT headset or headphone)

?
for MPEG files, u only nid 2 install FFMPEG plugin.
CAB files are meant to be copied into ur device. EXE files are mean to b run from u PC/laptop. choose one.

the rest is not necessary unless u have medias using those format/requires the codecs.

it's not that hard to read right?

the MPEG4 file is in wat extension? *filename*.MP4? most probably that file is encoded with AAC codec for the sound. when u try to play the file did it pop up any msg regarding the playback?

there's nothing wrong wif the installer or source of download
AAC built in binaries/codec support have been removed from the latest TCPMP by the author itself, clearly stated, due to IP matters.
