Surprised? Indeed I am, just hope that he signed not because of money.

Anyway that is a great signing. Hopefully he will be one to bring glory back to Anfield.

"You have two weeks to decide!"

Liverpool have given Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres two weeks to make up their minds, according to the News of the World.

The futures of the Anfield starmen have been the talk of the town and a constant worry for Liverpool fans all over the world.

Speculations have been rife, linking Gerrard to Real Madrid and Torres to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

But manager Roy Hodgson, who is faced with an arduous task of keeping the star players at Anfield even before the start of the new season, has apparently grown impatient and has now given the players two weeks to decide before shutting the exit doors.

Reports claim if the duo does not provide an answer in the stipulated time, they can be prepared to continue their Anfield journey for another season.

Hodgson will hold a meeting with the £30million-rated Gerrard on Tuesday when he returns to training while Torres and his agent have been briefed on the club's hard-line stance on his £70m valuation.

Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been told to 'put up or shut up' in their pursuit of the players despite neither of them making any formal bids.

In recent past, Liverpool have found themselves on the losing end and will be determined not to let history repeat itself this time round.

In 2004, Michael Owen made it known of his intention to leave the club on the eve of the new season, leaving the Anfield club little choice but to part with their striker for a mere £10 million to Real Madrid.

And the club is afraid the Spanish giants may deploy the same tactics on Gerrard this time round.

Gerrard and Torres are not the only players in the direction of the Anfield exit, with midfielder Javier Mascherano on the verge of joining former boss Rafael Benitez at Inter.

Hodgson has earlier revealed that the Argentina skipper has been avoiding his calls and is in the process of searching for a replacement with Standard Liege's Steven Defour believed to be among the potential targets.

with the latest signing, i believe Gerrard and Torres will stay, at least for another season to see how good RH is............

mind you RH is GOOD and he really mean business by selling some under par players and his altitude towards Masch is a good example................ " if u wanna go, you can go " thumbup.gif

Well like that lad too.. notworthy.gif looks promising, Always a good news ..getting academy/reserves player ..getting/signing high profile is too expensive.

pacheco should have more time in first team also.

Joe Cole is KOP. First major one from hodgson ..

The next few weeks going to be major ..for KOP.. who is in and who is out.

dun forget our Jovanovic is a world class player too although we got him for free.. same goes to j.cole.. both are free transfer... so we are playing smart this time...
guys, maybe this time will be ours time to clinch back to top... who knows..
never underestimate our own manager RH, give him full of support no matter how gud or bad his decision is, becos we are the kop.. do remember that guys....

ok...Joe Cole....looks good.....(as long as there is no hidden deal of exchange with Torres)...

now things are looking `brighter'......Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Aqui, Agger, Skrtle, Reina,

IF Torres and Gerrard stays, my hopes are up again for a top 4 and even a good cup run...

and if Mascha have change of heart, why not...(but have feeling he is leaving).

just hope that Roy is planning for attractive football too..

PS....hope this is not another Harry Kewell saga.... hmm.gif

By signing Cole, Masch will hav to take a good look at Liverpool now as he might be missing the chance to wear the Winner's Medal wif LFC if he decide to leave laugh.gif laugh.gif

Jovanovic strike deal with RB not RH, so Joe Cole would the first then lol.. ahaha.. Masch can go I guess if he fetch good price..

Best Scenario - RH turn Lucas into a decent DM.

I hope Kuyt get more time upfront rather then wing since Cole is in.. we have maxi, cole, reira(assuming he is staying as RB already left). babel also

Wonder - Jonjo Shelvey <--- will feature or not, would be nice if all those "prospects liverpool bought all the while too feature in first team... rather getting expensive overated signings since the market already tainted by Blue side of Mancs....
