if you look at our complete squad list, we have more or less filled up the slots in both the homegrown and foreign quotas.

7 of the 8 spots for homegrown would've been filled by gerrard, carra, cole, johnson, spearing, darby and insua (provided that he stays). apart from that plessis, nemeth and brouwer also qualify as homegrown as they've spent 3 years here before turning 21.

the foreign players would make 15 of the 17 spots through reina, aquilani, lucas, agger, kyrgiakos, skrtel, aurelio, kuyt, torres, babel, rodriquez, cavalieri, jovanovic, ngog and masch/poulsen. there will be two more spots for fringe players like el zhar if he hasn't left (there's another itandje but i doubt he'll be in).

the rest will be free to play throughout the season as they are under 21, full list includes ayala, pacheco, wilson, shelvey, kelly, robinson, irwin, hansen, gulacsi, amoo, ince, bruna, kacaniklic, dalla valle, palsson, eccleston, bouzanis, cooper, chamberlain, kohlert, mavinga, mendy, poloskei, roberts, saric, simon and weijl (27 in total). i don't expect many from this lot to graduate to the first team squad, but there's a healthy figure as all 27 of them will qualify as homegrown after turning 21.

if prospects like pacheco, shelvey, ayala, wilson, kelly and co can slowly usurp into the first team in the next couple of years, we'll have a healthy number of homegrown to not have any worries.

if RH is playing by the number, he may still get one or two homegrown and foreign players to fully utilize his quota if he thinks none of plessis, nemeth, brouwer and el zhar are good enough to make the squad.

on personal POV, i won't lose sleep if darby, plessis, brouwer, el zhar, itandje and insua get transferred out before the transfer window closes. i do hope though that nemeth gets a chance this season since we have enough homeqrown slots at the moment if RH doesn't make anymore homegrown signings. but there's still over 2 weeks to go before the list has to be submitted so anything may happen.

don't get you mate, RH doesn't need to sacrifice kyrgiakos to open up a slot for wilson since he's under 21.
