5 draws wont do any good either....  hmm.gif

Lol. I don't think they'll draw all 5 la..we got WBA at home and Birmingham away..i'd say we can win both if all first team players are fit to play..draw against man city, man utd away and arsenal at home i dont mind but i'd love to see we start off with a win at home.. rclxms.gif so a 9 or 11 point-haul out of a possible max of 15 is pretty good i'd say with a tough start like we have..

while we're running out of time for big-name signings, recent weeks fans were allowed the opportunity to see some of the youngsters in action. i may yearn for one or two major signing before the window shuts, but if that doesn't happen i am quietly content as well.

perhaps it may indicate that some of the current crop of youngsters will be presented with regular appearances in the BPL this coming season. the world cup has given these players a chance to don the shirt and replace the first teamers for several games and some really sparkled despite failing to win any of the friendlies. pacheco came back from an international tourney and went straight into the first 11. apart from that kelly, ayala, shelvey, amoo and dalla valle also made decent appearances for the past month. i'm not really convinced with spearing and darby, although i do hope both will somehow graduate into the first team in the near future. at 22 spearing isn't that young to be considered another prospect, babel, ngog and insua played regularly despite being in the same age bracket.

plessis looks to be out of favour, and nemeth doesn't look like he'll get any games at all. i wouldn't moan if plessis is allowed to leave, but i hope to see nemeth to at least have a game to impress the fans even if he's not being favoured. if he gets shipped out without ever playing a single game, i think most fans would be devastated considering that he has been voted as our young and reserves player of the year just 2 seasons back.

anyway, apparently degen is finalizing his loan move to stuttgart, and el zhar's going out on loan as well?

i'd like to think that we stand a good chance against arsenal mainly because of its the first game of the season, and its in anfield, a start of a new era for us by roy in the bpl, the crowd will get behind the team, singing ywna, an early goal for us would definately help the team, we would surely wanna make it a hostile environment for the gunners plus their mental state are always being questioned when it comes to big games plus the on-going saga of fabregas and barca, no disrespect to wenger and his team, they play good football, but i blv nobody wants to play their first match of the season at anfield. for torres, i hope he'll start if he gets the green light from the medical team, if he's not fit enough, i blv roy wouldnt want risk him as there is plenty of football to be played this season and he owe us a full season! sweat.gif

i only hope for 4 points from the first 2 matches, if we get that, it'll be a bonus and hopefully lift the dark and gloom off us, esp with new investors coming in flex.gif flex.gif

not exactly, Mellor scored in almost every match during his reserves stint, most fans were excited about him playing for us but turned out to be mediocre.

YUP the earlier batch of academy were too lightweight for the actual competitive BPL then. hopefully the overhauled academy youngsters prove to be the maturing kind.

from the entire crop i am only hoping that one or two will blossom into full-fledge international players. there's a big pool and despite all the hype it's not really realistic to have all graduating into the first team together.

having said that, it has been a long while since we last churn out any decent players. gerrard was probably the last of the lot. there's too many wrights, otsemobors, partridges, kennedys, welshs, etc phasing past the reserves without setting a foot regularly in the BPL, and that showed how poor we are in developing young players from the academy.

actually i still think he can be a handful to defences if given more chances like ngog. He has the body & strength to prosper in holding up play role. Still think we let him go without really giving him optimum chances.

if you ask me, mellor plays like arsenal's bendtner, only surrounded by less creative teammates. but he looked like he stalled progressing and eventually look to be content playing with less-competitive teams. for a while mellor seemed good, but with his playing style he never looked like one who can suddenly steal the spotlight.

For his size & sometimes appears too lembik against BPL defenders, but nonetheless (for me) he is & will be remembered for the knockdown to gerrard to score for a last great group CL enroute to the night in may.

well, he is struggling in preston North end/Sheffield WednesdayFC, never really bloossomed to what he could have, but still remembered for his little but massive contribution in 2 big LFc games

Huang Liverpool takeover aims mapped out

The proposed takeover of Liverpool by a Chinese consortium would not involve direct ownership by the country's government, although they may have a passive role in the organisation, it has been claimed.

More details of the bid fronted by Hong Kong-based businessman Kenny Huang have come to light after it was revealed the Chinese investors are being assisted by Chicago-based company Sportscorp.

The consortium have yet to table a bid, although Liverpool have now requested all parties prove by next week they have the money to back up their interest, but appear to be in pole position to replace American duo Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

If successful Huang and Guang Yang, executive vice-president of Franklin Templeton Investments and chief investment officer of the China Life/Franklin Templeton Fund, would be in charge of a limited liability corporation in control of Liverpool.

Other investors, including China Investment Corp - the country's sovereign wealth fund - would be passive with no more than a 20% share.

The Chinese bid has four major aims: to leave Liverpool debt-free; make significant investment and construct the long-awaited new stadium in Stanley Park; provide a considerable sum for transfers and expand more actively into the Asian market.

However, those behind the plan - the broad details of which have already been submitted to Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital, who are running the sale of the club - insist their offer would not be financially beneficial to Hicks and Gillett.

"What is not one of our goals is the enrichment of the existing owners," said head of Sportscorp Marc Ganis, who suggested should the takeover be successful there would not be widespread change behind the scenes at Anfield.

"If we submit a proposal and it is accepted, it would be focused on the future and not the past."

How was Mellor good? Apart from his strength and his header, he has no pace, no skills, no finishing techniques. He is a decent player at best, a mid table player. Somebody said Mellor is similar to Bendtner, to a certain extend yes, but he's no where near as tall as Bendtner, no where near his finishing moves and no where near as hungry as Mellor. Finishing moves can be vague as he scored a lot with his headers when he was in the reserves team, but when comes to playing with the top boys, his lack of techniques made him a poor man's Marcus Stewart/Heskey.

Oh yea, RB sold him.

As Roy Evans once said to "somebody" here tongue.gif

Everyone wants and thinks that they can be a manager, but Roy Evans was the one watching the players train.

Where is Mellor now bro? N'Gog still hasn't impress me, the opposition isn't exactly a big one, although it's nice to see the lads played well.

Pacheco and Lucas were good players before they left their clubs, why RB didn't want to use him last season? I don't know but he trained and watch him grow, so should I question that?
