QUOTE(lolhalol @ Jul 23 2010, 11:12 AM)
i would love to see a pacheco and nemeth pairing one day. they can learn soo much from torres as well . i hope they all stay for a long time.
*
The reason Nemeth don't play much is mostly due to the fact he doen't give out confidence he cant handle those big & burly top flight defenders, hence the numerous loans he went.
Don't be fool into thinking reserves level are the same as top flight as shown by Mellor, who scored like nobody business in reserves but cant held his own even in championship football now.

QUOTE(Wonka @ Jul 23 2010, 12:05 PM)
Well its either Bridge or Ziegler. Both have diff style of play. Bridge is more to the calm n he can provide crosses. Whereas Ziegler is more of an attacking n shooting type. Just like the ol' Riise. smile.gif Either one would do good.
*
Ziegler for me as he doesnt cost as much as Bridge will & a lot younger. 8 mil GBP for me is a bad idea for a 30 year old with fitness problems not to mention big salary. Can we afford to take in another players with suspected fitness after Cole?

As for Carra, think he'll gradually ousted after this season. He had a torrid season last year. U can see so much forwards running past him like he ain't there.

pretty much the strongest team available. the addition of skrtel and agger would give much more stability to the defence, am hoping to see wilson play. btw when is the match exactly ?  icon_question.gif
*
Why is it the English cant play yet Slovak can when both of the countries only reached 2nd round of WC? Is it English players more of a commodity? Cole & Carra not even played all the matches but Skrtel did. hmm.gif

QUOTE(-nana- @ Jul 29 2010, 03:19 PM)
hmm skrtel is included probably because last season he was injured and didnt really got involved in many matches, hence carra n gerrard n johnson is rested longer compared to him, for cole, i think rh is just trying to protect him or give him a much better platform to debut as he is so far our big signing or rather the marquee signing, and thats for free  doh.gif

maxi i think is surplus to requirements in rh's mind as we have jova cole babel n kuyt on the wings
so is there any live on astro today ?
*
Either our medical staffs are hopeless or others are taking a risk since Suarez & sketelenburg played in last nite CL Qualifying for Ajax yet both of their nations featured in the last 4...well advanced than England.
I'm not buying the stuff about Eredivisie is inferior & not that demanding, they still play competitive rite.
Putting ur reason Skrtel is included, Gerrard & Cole also miss a big chunk of the season, in theory at least should be fresher than most. unsure.gif

BTW Jonno, ur avatar is pretty distracting wub.gif

Nah, next will be "You'll Never walk Alone" probably in Chinese, looking for the right font / design. Actually, the next should be "Veritas Oriundus Aequitas" next to the torch.
*
Me think that the torch with the latin phrase will be more meaningful. It sorta complete the torch, instead of somehow something is missing with just the torch.

not exactly, Mellor scored in almost every match during his reserves stint, most fans were excited about him playing for us but turned out to be mediocre.
*
actually i still think he can be a handful to defences if given more chances like ngog. He has the body & strength to prosper in holding up play role. Still think we let him go without really giving him optimum chances.

If u called urself a fan of the club, u should've known why it's the case. It's not the about fake rumours or inaccuracy of report, though it also true, rather its the conduct of the paper towards Reds fans.

QUOTE(madmoz @ Aug 9 2010, 10:46 AM)
True that... in my time over there, I did have pleasant experiences with watching matches at almost all the local clubs (Stockport, City, Sale, Bolton etc). The smaller clubs had passionate local fanbases... and played crappy route 1 football. Very decent atmosphere.

Anfield and Old Trafford in contrast was slightly more subdued or perhaps orderly. I suppose that is the harsh realities of football nowadays.
*
Even watching in pubs is an eye opening experience.
Btw RB's gone, Maddies back eh? tongue.gif

i think O'neil is one of the best british managers.. behind the red nose. tongue.gif

he do achieve something in scotland league and bring villa to top level without much resources.

if mancini goes out, he probably goes to citeh. or back to scotland again.
*
His net spending is actually 3rd highest behind City & Spurs.
Contrary to popular believe, he signed loads of expensive British dudes. Though not all are blockbuster signings, but most are Sidwell types, high paying non 1st teamers

QUOTE(triple02 @ Aug 10 2010, 03:38 PM)
Started supporting Liverpool after the 95 FA CUP finals lost to Man Utd...I remember Liverpool donned the green and white away jersey styled by Giorgio Armani. I adored Stan Collymore more than Robbie Fowler or Macca. Apologise for the blast from the past. cant help to be emotional with all the ramblings in this thread.
*
Think its the pre-match cream suit by Armani. Ah...Collymore & fowler + Macca, that brings back memories of kamikaze footie...sight to behold but won nuts wink.gif
To echo Jonno, if one have a time to dig up news on transfer, cant fathom how one cannot click on wikipedia. Thats the easiest way to know general but important things about Reds.
Makes one wonders why the debates & posts deteriorate, aint it whistling.gif

Heck the match is more remembered for the cream suits than the match itself.Still wondering whats the fuss about the cream suit about? Is it we are the first one to wear designer suit for pre-match inspections?

As for Collymore, he's great if he puts his mind on it. Pace, strength, finishing...just too bad that his mind wonders off too frequently, to the point of messing up his whole career.

QUOTE(wolvie2k @ Aug 10 2010, 10:08 PM)
I get what you're trying to say, but you used a bad analogy. What if I like the girl for who she is and not what she'd done in the past? What if I like the girl and don't care about her lineage? What if I like the girl and don't care whether she's rich or poor?

It's ironic that you say we're trying to stop others from learning. It's actually the learned ones who claimed we're not true fans. We are simply just trying to co-exist. In my opinion it doesn't matter how much you know about the club's past as long as you'd support the club through thick and thin. If you wish to know more about the club, then by all means do so. Just don't label and judge others who simply love watching the team play.
*
Actually the analogy is right, just that u got the wrong idea about liking a gal. You can like a gal for who she is without needing to know her past but u cant help it that u'll want to find out more & more about her, in terms of her likes & dont's, her style, her attitude/mood, etc. Thats the natural progress of love.

I dun even give a hood about whether u care about the club history or why u support the club, thats totally up to personal preferences. I ain't preaching a holier than thou phrase for those with knowledge either. Its just that when ppl point out why certain things are despicable to Liverpool fans, then those new forumers always will ask. So naturally those wise heads will point out the reasons & ask why ones can spend times to scour net for transfer news yet cant spend 30 mins on history of the club. If anyone fell offended by that, well too bad, for you call yourselves a Liverpool supporter hence we treat you like one.

QUOTE(Burningsunz @ Aug 10 2010, 10:14 PM)
+1 i agree with u. a fans doesnt mean they have to know about the club history but of course it will be a plus if they do. as long as they supported the club through thick and thin will do. i dont support liverpool just because of how good they are in the era of shankly..i support liverpool because when i watch them play when i was still young and the feeling is different compare to other teams
*
U don't get it do you. We're not judging anyone for whatever reasons you wanna support a team. Thats up to u. Its more like as others said, for you to know more about the things u like/love/whatever.

Always like Benny since he terrorized us back in 06 FA cup final. Problem is maybe he didn't have the trust of gaffer. For him to go in & out of the team, might as well go in and out in a team with better chance to win silverware not to mention better pay

QUOTE(dundermifflin @ Aug 13 2010, 09:45 AM)
you're slightly wrong, you're confusing with UEFA registration rules for CL/EL.

PL Registration>25 players list. at least 8 homegrown (HG) players. HG mean, registered /trained in England or Wales for at least 3 years before they reached 22 y.o. regardless their citizenship. i.e Fabregas is HG, Hargreaves isnt HG.

under 21 y.o players, unlimited numbers can be register. regardless their citizenship.

UEFA registration> 25 players list aka A List must include 4 HG + 4 players eligible for national teams (can play for England). HG definition in PL and UEFA are slightly different (in term of date and UEFA didnt include Wales)

under 21 players aka B list, are similar to PL.

these 2 set of registration almost similar but technically not exact copy.
*
Hargreaves an English wor, the purpose of HG rules is to get in more English players, so doesn't he count as HG since he's English hmm.gif

taken from FIFA: The definition of home grown is trained for three years under the age of 21 by somebody in the English and Welsh professional system

Added on August 13, 2010, 10:17 amhargreaves is a home grown player in Germany smile.gif

Eh, thought this supposed to be English FA criteria? Even though he's English but doesn't he sonsidered 'local' player as opposed to foreign player? hmm.gif
So it means every country also faced the same criteria? if so Inter Milan would be so dead whistling.gif

Now that Babel finally having his chance at his preferred position, If he cant impresses, then his time at our club will be numbered.
I actually thought we are quite well stock in striking department as well as midfield so cant fathom why are we going for another forward given our financial problem. Rmb that Babel & Kuyt are originally strikers. Together with Torres & Ngog, thats 4 strikers, 5 if u include Jova.
We are mostly playing with lone striker as well, which means we're effectively paying a premium for backup striker. Not sure thats a wise thing to do. If really wanna buy, wonder why Klose is not taken into consideration since he wont cost much & good in the air which is something we lacked like forever.
Loaning out Aquilani, don't think its a good idea as well considering Cole is injury prone & loaning out one of the club's biggest signing without really having him having a real go seems a bit unwise hmm.gif

I really really really hope loaning out aqua = pacheco got chance to play sweat.gif

I would give him a chance to have a go since he dont really got off last year. As for Pacheco, If he's got ard 10 games this season, its already a progress tongue.gif Doubt he'll get much chance anyway since Stevie most likely revert to Cole position when he's unavailable, not to mention others that can operate there sweat.gif .
Anyhow, for those 3 link players, its not too much considering how injury prone 2 of them are whistling.gif

QUOTE(LucasPSS @ Aug 20 2010, 11:21 AM)
Both are playing in different position i dun think will make much difference.  hmm.gif
And Aquilani deserve a second chance consider he is still injury-plagued last season. Hopefully he can produce some masterful play in the next few games if he has the chance  sweat.gif
*
Theoretically different position but technically both likes to operate behind strikers
