wonder how an android fancyboy look like... QUOTE Google Discontinues the Nexus One Android Phone
Google has pulled the plug on the Nexus One, its once highly anticipated smartphone. The last shipment has arrived at Google HQ, and once those are gone there will be no more Nexus Ones for U.S. consumers.
The handset will still be sold through Vodafone in Europe and some Asian carriers, and developers will still be able to get their hands on one, but it looks like the Droid phones on Verizon will carry the mantle for Google's Android mobile operating system. This is the end of the company's grand experiment with an unlocked consumer handset in the U.S.
Following disappointing sales, Google had already closed the Nexus One web store two months ago, so this final nail in the coffin was already overdue.
Google announced the end of the line on its blog on Friday, but there was so little fanfare or interest in the story in the tech scene that the story slipped through the cracks. Though the device was popular with geeks, most American consumers probably just didn't understand the concept of an unlocked handset, and Google didn't put much marketing muscle behind the device.
Thus, it's no surprise that the phone has been discontinued and hardly anyone noticed. It's too bad, actually. It was a fine device; it got even finer with the Android 2.2 update a couple of weeks ago. This post has been edited by kentang_peranchis: Jul 19 2010, 05:53 PM

LOL Its not the end of the show. You are an idiot, you know that... Even in the beginning, Google aint really into handset business. They got no ideas at all how to make a good handset. True BUT they are very very good with programming which is why they invented Android. On top of that, they got all the creativity to unlock whats can be done on the phone which you usually does on the pc. Nah, Im not gonna talk about the Iphone anymore. With due respect, despite Jobs' own self acclaimed esteem, Iphone OS remains one of the most polished OS ever which I like, even though I dont own one. The problem with the new iPhone4 are the owners and to-be owner expectations of it. During the keynote address when it was launched, Steve Jobs ( aka God of Apple ) repeatedly says the iPhone4 is the BEST smartphone in the WORLD. He repeated this again in the 16 Jul press conference. He did not say it is one of the best - he said again is the BEST IN THE WORLD
I do not recall any CEO's of other phone makers ever saying such so proudly. So of course, all iPhone4 owners expect the BEST - equates it to PERFECT.
Frankly, I see the issue of the antenna is small issue - just being overblown by the media, some bloggers, anti-Apple chaps and also iPhone supporters.
But Steve Jobs coming out to explain was remarkable but using other phone makers to compare is disgusting and so unprofessional. Since he says iPhone4 is the best in the world - he should not make such comparisons with others. He should instead tell us what steps Apple will take to improve it and maintain his claim ikt to be the BEST in the WORLD. Personally I find that he leaves behind a bitter taste in my mouth after seeing his speech - it was 101 % defence all the way.
But I will still consider buying it when it is officially available here, not that I am a supporter , just I like to try out new gads.

I kinda agree the Iphone is the best smartphone in the world right now. Steve is a damn arrogant but an Iphone 4 + Itunes App Market = best smartphone which is true.
However, I dont need the best smartphone. I need the most flexible smartphone. Android is the answer. LOL... I would truly consider Iphone when Steve admit that he farked up with Flash.

Someone pasted article about NexusOne being discontinued and tried to say Android failed? From where they are coming from, I can clearly see the insecurity. Let's say Apple didn't continue on Iphone, it will just die.
Here's the difference in Android. You see different manufacturers coming out with varying specs and different pricing that can cater to nearly all income groups. You can get a 1K Android or a 3K Android, up to you.
Nexus One was Google's flagship product two years ago (iirc) to signal the intent of Google's support towards it's Android platform to boost market confidence. Back then in the time where Android was still in it's early stages and only hardcore fans following. It's no longer the case now. Acceptance for Android grew and there are tons of Android phones to chose from now.

The nexus one is released to show that even google can make phones and have consistent software update to it plus supporting it. The nexus one also acts as a benchmark so that hopefully other manufacturer could continue on creating better android devices. I honestly see that nexus one is a developer phone now and not so fancy for me. But i respect that even a developer phone has a good hardware and flexability. Open-ness is the key of nexus one, sadly now we see that motorola is going un-open on the droidX

Google just decided to shut down it's online store.. the Nexus One will continue to be around And I agree that Android has grown to such proportion that even without the Nexus One, it will still continue to grow as there are so many excellent Android devices in the market now..

yes the good thing about android is the choice. u can pick any android phones according to your budget and your liking. and with several manufactures competing with each other, new phones will come sooner when we compare with 1-year cycle of iphone.
anyway, there will always be the appeal for apple stuff, as usual.
