Have not read the book, but HBO is pretty keen on the project.
So it could be good.
And it's Fantasy...They are rare species on TV.

Juz watch the 1st episode. Darn, this seems a great series, and hopefully it will, at least at par with Spartacus Season 1 and 2. Have a high hope for Camelot, but it is a disappointment. Then this one come, really love it.

Wow, very faithful to the book.
Not an easy adaptation. I'm glad that I'm not disappointed with the introduction of the characters so far. If you have not read the book, you may find there are quite a lot of characters to get to know. And there are MORE to come. Can't wait for next week instalment. Because it will get better and better (if it is done right, of course). The opening credit is very impressive, I must say. It brings the Westeros alive. |

dem...after The Killing, i can say for sure that this is the next best thing...
love the dark medieval setting...so many characters got introduced, yet hard to root for any of them seeing how messed up the world is... and i agree, the opening credit is great!! |

based on the first episode: it's great!!
based on the novel reader regarding the story: promising. i'm not big on medieval tv series really, the only reason i watch the 1st eps is mainly because there's a fantasy elements present...n turns out, i'm hooked!! i just hope HBO will continue adapting the series until the end... |

The Imp has the best lines of all characters so far in the book. (Just finished the first book.)Lena Headey not so much though.. He is so funny, even funnier if you could hear his thoughts. He is a good comic relief with so much going on in the Westeros world. Too bad, no one is safe in the series... Apart from him, Arya Starks is another lovely character in the book. Lena Headey is meant to be a b**ch. I mean her character, the Queen. QUOTE(dundermifflin @ Apr 20 2011, 03:28 PM) so its great /promising / or flop? I have not read the remaining 3 books, the fifth book due this July. Just started the 2nd book today actually. QUOTE(ray148 @ Apr 20 2011, 05:18 PM) I'm afraid the show will catch up with the book before the book finished. It took the author more than 5 years to finish the fifth book. It was really hard to imagine these places from the book. That's what makes the opening credit awesome. This post has been edited by xy2610: Apr 22 2011, 01:32 PM |

This is one great book adapted series so far. The lines are true to the book but readers like me might find it a little bit cheesy when they are repeated. Nonetheless the cast are great.
My fav would be the Imp and Bran. Looking forward for more dialogues for them. Oh, and Joffrey looks awfully ugly but suitable for its character. To be honest, I think its quite the challenge to make the episodes according the plot as R.R. Martin writes according to the characters by each chapters and relate it beautifully without any missing links. As for the opening. Great clockwork stuff. It is stated that every episode will show different animations according to the places involve in the episodes. For those who are alert, you can notice that in that it shows the free city of Pentos in the first episode in the opening, but in the second it shows Vaes Dothrak as to accord the movement of Khal Drogos people. Awesome. |

Awesome. Yeah, the opening is very interesting, Vaes Dothrak has its beauty. I can't wait to see how Eyrie, Riverrun and Dragonstone looks like. (Okay, I'm only up to the 2nd book.) I wonder why Daenerys sigil is a lion instead of a dragon while Sansa sigil is a dragon instead of a direwolf btw. They must have messed up the actresses. Nah,, the series just been signed for its second season.
After that, it'll probably go for a hiatus. Its interesting that, you can't predict who's the main character as surprises will come along the way. I hate it when the author does that. So far, Ser Jorah and Dany portrays the right nature for the character. Oh since the book shows super maturity at a young age, the series would have to compensate about 3 years of the original characters age. Its funny that most of the people are at their teens, twenties and straight jump to their eighties. Haha. |

in the book, Ned Stark are suppose to be 35 of age only... Sean Bean looks way past 40s
also Daenerys Targaryen are suppose to just reach her puberty... and but of cos, HBO can't really show nudes of underage gal, else they'll get sued for kiddie porn |

Yep great episode indeed. I love Syrio and Arya scene in this one.
I thought I would be seeing Hodor and his basket on this one but oh well. Perhaps I should enjoy the joy on the episodes first before something else happen Winter is coming. |

Very fast paced, and a lot of plot and character development.
I can see the purpose of the scene of the Queen and Prince though it is not in the book. Very interesting set up. Love to see Littlefinger and Vary. I thought Vary is a much gentler eunuch though. Old Nan with scary story scene is well done too. Very tense. A few things missing here and there as well, would love to see Jon bonded with Pyp and Grenn. Hope they don't cut off all Bran's dream. Anyway, there goes 58 minutes easily. QUOTE(snowfire64 @ May 2 2011, 10:34 PM) Yep great episode indeed. I love Syrio and Arya scene in this one. Syrio and Arya scene is perfect in the end.I thought I would be seeing Hodor and his basket on this one but oh well. Perhaps I should enjoy the joy on the episodes first before something else happen Winter is coming. Hodor and his basket comes later, maybe next episode. Yea with its fast pace style, I don't know how the director will conform to George Martin's style of 'killing' the characters instantly when the cast is amazingly hired in the series.
We shall wait and see. |

I seriously think a 12 episodes season is much better than 10 episodes season with so much things packed in the story. We shall wait and see. Cant agree more that the cast is amazing, seeing anyone of them going will be a mindf**k. |

That's true, it's one thing to read and imagine a character but quite another to see them in the flesh. But i think that's what makes the book series very unique. Martin has this amazing ability to dismiss characters yet able to compensate the reader by introducing or enhancing other characters and plots. We shall wait and see. |

Another awesome episode. We got to see Hodor, the mountain, and Ghost! The apprehending of Tyrion was just as i imagined it. The little speech from Catalyn and Tyrion's face gave me goosebumbs.

I quite like the portrayal of Lyssa to be hones, different from the book obviously but i like how you could see madness behind her eyes. How demented she is and how bad it is for her son to be living with her. The look on Catelyn says it all really. We have to remember, tv audience do not have the luxury to read the thoughts and narratives as you would be from reading the book.
Really enjoyed that episode. Bet those who havent read the book would be asking themselves at one point, hmm where's Jaime ? Then bang he came and skewer someone through the eye. What a cliffhanger. It's all going to kick off now. |

I really liked the king and the queen scene.
Robert has no love for Cersei after all. Very good set up for what Cersei will do next. She has nothing to lose. Petyr and Vary scene...It gives some insight on what these two will be talking about when they're alone. Those are not in the books. I can't wait for the golden crown scene next week. It was a pay off episode.
The revelation of Ned investigation. Yes, I did not see that coming while reading the book. The golden crown scene is very creepy and very difficult to look at. Danaery nailed the end by saying 'Fire cannot kill a dragon'. The Tyrion trial had me at the edge of my seat but Lord Robin is bloody annoying. It would be good to see him fly instead. Theon and Ros were just there to throw in some nudity. I find that quite hilarious. Next week will be awesome knowing what to come from the book. QUOTE(xy2610 @ May 24 2011, 10:56 PM) It was a pay off episode. Yeah besides the nudity being forced upon us, i think the show has been brilliant. It's just one epic scene after the other. Almost like a duel between characters if its not swords agaist swords, it be a battle of wits and intellects. Conflicts at every turn. Just keeps you on the edge of your seat - or bed. At the end of this week's episode, Ned just found out that King Robert's son is not his son. Everyone in Robert's line has black hair except his golden haired idiot of a son.
So I come to the conclusion that the prince is actually the offspring of the Queen & her brother. They should have left the mad king on the iron throne seeing how ridiculous Robert's royal family has become. |

Anyways, the man on the iron throne would be Petyr Bellish aka Lord Littlefinger. No spoilers here because we have seen him since episode 3. |

Everyone in Robert's line has black hair except his golden haired idiot of a son. You do know why the mad king was disposed right ? Because he was mad, and his son was the catalyst that led to the civil war. Robert has his flaws but he doesn't rule with an iron fist - some will argue that he just doesn't rule at all. The King Robert is not the same man before he became king. Behind that proud and iron will man, is actually a broken man. I don't think he ever recovered from Lyanna's death (Ned's sister). He could've have been a great man and even greater king, but he rather drink endlessly to keep his depression in check. It's a rather tragic story imo.So I come to the conclusion that the prince is actually the offspring of the Queen & her brother. QUOTE(xy2610 @ May 27 2011, 03:44 AM) I don't quite understand that part of the story. The back story of the fall of the Targaryen is rather grim. Ned and Robert grew up together as wards under John Arryn of the Eyrie. Lyanna was betrothed to Robert but 'went missing' with the crown prince Rhaegar. Robert was the most hit hard by the news of the 'kidnapping'. Some flashback on the show would be good. I only know Robert had most of the Targaryen killed. Ned's brother, Brandon, along with his companions went to the king's court demanding the return of their sister and threatened to take matters into his own hands. The mad king arrested them for conspiring to murder his son and summoned their fathers to answer the charges. They were all sentenced to death but Ned's father requested a trial by combat. The king declared fire as his champion and proceeded to burn Ned's father alive in his armor while Brandon was forced to watch and died strangled with a cord around his neck. The mad king murderous streak continued as he demanded the head of Ned and Robert, Arryn refused and thus began the rebellion against the reign of the mad king. Robert killed Rhaegar in battle. The mad king was slain by Jaime. Two of the royal kids were savagedly killed by The Mountain. The Queen was brought to Dragonstone along with Visery where she died giving birth to Daenarry. The last 2 survivor of the pure bloodline Targaryen were smuggled across the sea. The throne fell to Robert as Robert's lineage can be traced back to the Targaryen (his grandmother was a Targaryen). QUOTE(hfi @ May 27 2011, 02:55 PM) The back story of the fall of the Targaryen is rather grim. Ned and Robert grew up together as wards under John Arryn of the Eyrie. Lyanna was betrothed to Robert but 'went missing' with the crown prince Rhaegar. Robert was the most hit hard by the news of the 'kidnapping'. Wow, nice revelation there. never read the book, so this info really good to me. Ned and few others went to a tower that kept Lyanna who was guarded by a bunch of Kings Guard. She was already dying when they found her. That's right, Ashara was just a rumor amongst the soldiers and maids. The truth about Jon may still be known, Howland Reed was a very close friend of Ned and may know the truth. He was also there with Ned at the tower and is also the only sole survivor that knows what took place in that tower.

Sansa oh Sansa... why must you be so naive and stupid
thank god her little sister Arya is totally opposite of her and Ned oh Ned » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « a little bit slow in Ep08, but finally we get to see Drogo in action! Was expecting to see some clashes between the army of the houses, but in the end there's none. Expect to see more betrayals and killings in the last 2 episodes!! and lastly, my fav quote so far for all of the episodes "Where do I begin, my lords and ladies? I am a vile man, I confess it. My crimes and sins are beyond counting. I have lied and cheated, gambled and whored. I'm not particularly good at violence, but I'm good at convincing others to do violence for me. You want specifics, I suppose. When I was seven, I saw a servant girl bathing in the river. I stile her robe and she was forced to return to the castle naked and in tears. I closed my eyes, but I could still see her tits bouncing. When I was 10, I stuffed my uncle's boots with goat sh*t. When confronted with my crime, I blamed a squire. Poor boy was flogged, and I escaped justice. When I was 12 I milked my eel into a pot of turtle stew. I flogged the one-eyed snake, I skinned my sausage. I made the bald men cry into the turtle stew, which I believe my sister ate. At least I hope she did. I once brought a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel.... Reading the book on my iPad currently (pretty good investment if u read a lot of book & comics n u know where go "get" em.
Damn they missed out quite a lot of details in the series. Like when Tyrion tells Jon the dragon story when en-route to The Wall. This post has been edited by epsilon_chinwk86: Jun 8 2011, 10:57 PM |

So alot of the 'details' in the books aren't included. IMO, its fun to watch and think 'oh yeahhh, that was in the book', etc |

of cos la... screen adaptation must change a bit here and there
the changes are all consented by the author himself In the book, Cat need to reach King's Landing b4 Ned's arrival, so she used ship which is faster on the screen, there's no need for such haste, so ride horse la filming horse also much cheaper than filming a ship |

Hehe 'ships' if you know what I mean.
Nah, without using an iPad, I've read the whole 4 books on my iPhone small screen with only the book's plot to keep me going. *Gotta strain my eyes sometimes for the sake of finishing it* Haha. Oh, just when Khal Drogo's in action, the actor quickly jumped to be Conan later. ;p Anticipation for the North Bannerman to come grows stronger for me! |

reading now on the tiny screen of iphone also... really eye straining lar...
local bookstore here dun have any of the books also, have to buy from Amazon liao, but will wait for book 5 to release first, and buy all 5 at one go. Cheaper that way honestly, local bookstore's books are all over-priced, even books are tax free, they're still bloody expensive compared to the actual retail price of the originate countries back to topic, Ep09 Baelor today... |

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Jun 13 2011, 11:17 AM) Shocking episode, but from comments over the net people are saying the shows /books will get even better, I really hope so.Without spoiling so much, without a doubt the best ending for an episode, heart pumping as hell and I thought maybe "if" .... (I didn't read the book yet). Could have been the finale but 1 more epi to go ....... After this season is done will read the book and watch re-run, have read till Bran's fell from the tower, the series really sticks to the book. Best adaption from the book that I have read so far is probably the scene where Tyrion having breakfast with his siblings and his sister's displeasure with his behaviour and his brother questiong his loyalty to the family, an epic adaption from the book .... Best opening must be Tywin skinning a dear while discussing the family's honour to Jaime. 1 more epi to go folks! |

The worst case that I'm worried is that they no longer sell the original cover of the book but paste some typical movie adaptation cover like the first book on the shelves now. Speaking of the series, after season 1 ends, will the new season be launched next year? |

Just finish watching episode 8 and 9. So far, in my opinion, episode 8 was the best. Love the Syrio part and whitewalkers scene was superb.
Episode 9 was a little bit dull, maybe because they cut off many juicy gore that would have been the Tyrion's duel with a knight and Rob's outwitted Jaime's forces. Nevertheless, the return of Rob from capturing Jaime, was a very good moment and the slow tone of the theme song really match Catelyn's emotion back there. Oh, the Twins' were also a remarkable sight to see. Note: Is it just me, that I see Ghost looks more like an ordinary white dog than a wolf like Grey Shadow? :\ This post has been edited by snowfire64: Jun 15 2011, 01:41 PM |

What a season finale!! So emotionally charged and beautifully scored that it even surpassed how i first imagined it. If EP 9 had shattered so many of the audience's hearts, the finale has brought back hope while soothing the hearts and minds of those shattered audiences. The ending is so perfect that it leaves the door wide open for season 2, it's no wonder they renewed it so early in the season. Truly one the most well scripted, well directed and brilliantly acted tv series. Amazing stuff. 2012 can't come soon enough.

Can't wait for Season 2. But, as a reader of the books, I can't really make an unbiased decision on the series, but once I show the Pilot episode to another non-reader, he loved it. Now I know IT IS a good show!
Oh take note, if you care about spoilers and stuff, don't go to wikipedia as at one glance you could straight away spoil 1000+ pages or 10+ hours of fun and curiosity. |

easily the best series that i've watched for past years. i thought it was nothing more than just men vs men, but as the plots thicken, gosh, it totally blew my mind away, like most of you all.

can't wait for next season to see The Imp to wrack havoc as The Hand of King
but would the King forgive and forget The Hand that slapped him? IMO, when Robert is still around, the court are still manageable, at least it's just between the fake old fart vs double crossing little finger vs double agent eunuch vs stupid honorable Ned which is no contest. but now it's all hell with the addition of The Imp and the crazy King |

Bought a value pack consist of the first and third book for $13. Seems a great value when my sisters take interest of the series when they read the books. Just in time for the start of the series on HBO Asia next month.

QUOTE(syazwanreno @ Jul 25 2011, 05:31 PM) how compared between this series and merlin? Both series takes place in a medieval settings but that's where the similarity ends. GoT's content is a lot more mature, grittier and even disturbing than arthurian setting. It's more a political drama than it is about magic and action. But that's not to say the series is lacking any of those elements, far from it, when it does showcase those elements the end product tends to be a sight to behold imo. If you like complex characters, elaborated yet twisted plots, then you'll find GoT irresistible. To top that off, it also boasts a cast of brilliant actors, captivating dialogues and authentic set designs. Give the pilot a go and take it from there.i like merlin through. finished watching season 1.
immediately after that started reading the novels. after reading the first book i noticed that the series was very very well done. i might not have watched many series that were novels then adapted to series/movies. but a game of thrones series really did great! guess i'll start reading the 2nd novel. i did notice that there is actually a card game for A game of thrones. wonder if anybody's playing here ? sos: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=10 |

Finished season 1, finished all the books. If season 2 can stay faithful to the books, then viewers should be prepared for an emotional roller coaster ride!! George R R Martin is just too good, too bad no one knows when book 6 is gonna come out!!

Out of all the books I think book 5 has the most cliffhangers, so many its not funny at all. Now i don't even know what to watch till april 2012 when season 2 starts, everything on tv now just seems dull after watching season 1.With all the twists and turns and cliffhangers, I do hope Book 6 come out sooner. On the bright side, GRRM mentioned that he had finished more than 100 pages of 'The Winds of Winter' with Sansa, Arya and Arienne Martell chapter in June last year with a Aeron Damphair chapter moved from the fifth book. Let's hope he had done more since then.I have watched the show 3 times already since the season finale and read the books to control the withdrawal. Guess it will be better for me when new season of Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire kicks off in a few weeks. |

Guys, for those who read the books, please continue your discussion in the Book Club section because not everybody read the books and I think they would appreciate not to spoil the next season(or the seasons following) by reading your comments on the 3rd,4th,5th,6th books.
With your further discussion moved there, it would greatly help revive the LYN Book Club section(duh, everyone's there is a book worm Thanks. |

QUOTE(ate @ Sep 8 2011, 06:56 PM) I do hope the show will last for 8 or 9 seasons. In Comic Con, the producers mentioned that Season 2 will cover book 2 and Season 3 will cover 2/3 of book 3. IMO, Season 4 will cover the last part of book 3 and some parts from book 4 and book 5 since they happen simultaneously. Can't say for the rest. Anyway, pretty excited. |

this is an awesome series.. can't wait for season 2.
At first when I started watching it I thought it was dull, boring, drama, political shit and alot of chatter and talk and shit... However pass Episode 5 and i'm glued. Everyday back to my desktop had to watch 1-2 episodes of it as I am curious as to what it's gonna happen next. The plot is thick, with a lot of political agenda, manipulation, good vs evil, myths/folklore and much more... it's like LOTR but with less magic/effects yet with more BRAINs. Best watch with downloaded English subtitle as you do not want to miss an important sentence/word that will keep the story flowing. Heck I had to pause at certain parts to read this wikia coz was too curious to know more! : http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_Wiki With the above you'll have a much better understanding if somehow you got lost while watching. 5 stars definitely from me... anticipating Season 2 next year!! Added on October 8, 2011, 12:09 amp.s. Tyrion Lannister's acting is just wayy superb. I can't imagine anyone else acting better than him!! it's THAT good.... -__- Added on October 18, 2011, 9:05 amtaken from wikipedia: QUOTE Reception Anticipation for the series was described by various media outlets as extremely high, with a dedicated fan base closely following the show's development.[77][78] By April 2011 multiple entertainment news outlets had put it at the top of their lists of television events to look forward to in 2011.[4][5] The majority of reviews for the show were very positive, with critics noting the high production value, the well-realized world, compelling characters, and giving particular note to the strength of the child actors.[6][7] Tim Goodman's review for The Hollywood Reporter stated, "a few minutes into HBO's epic Game of Thrones series, it's clear that the hype was right and the wait was worth it."[11] Mary McNamara from the Los Angeles Times called it "...a great and thundering series of political and psychological intrigue bristling with vivid characters, cross-hatched with tantalizing plotlines and seasoned with a splash of fantasy."[79] New York Post's Linda Stasi gave Thrones 3.5/4 stars stating, "The art direction, acting and incredible sets are as breathtaking as the massive scope of the series."[80] Many critics praised Peter Dinklage for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister, with Ken Tucker from Entertainment Weekly stating, "...if Dinklage doesn't get an Emmy for his clever, rude Tyrion Lannister, I'll be gobsmacked"[7] and Mary McNamara from the Los Angeles Times stating, "If the man doesn't win an Emmy, heads should certainly roll."[79] As of August 3, 2011, Game of Thrones has a Metacritic average of 79 out of 100 based on 28 critic reviews, categorized as "generally favorable", with a user score of 9.0 termed "universal acclaim".[81] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Thrones#Reception so true This post has been edited by Davidtcf: Oct 18 2011, 09:07 AM |

QUOTE(xy2610 @ Oct 31 2011, 08:12 PM) Don't worry. That does not mean much. I read the book as well. You mean for the series 4th book and 5th book will be together in one season? As in feast of crow and dance of dragons together in one season?4th book and 5th book run simultaneously. Some characters does not appear in 4th book but appear in the 5th. Some otherwise. |

Most likely the latter part of Book 3, earlier part of Book 4 and earlier part of Book 5 will be covered in season 4.The producers already hinted that Season 3 will end slightly more than half way through Book 3. Book 3 covers quite a lot of materials. |

I couldn't wait any longer for season 2 Supposingly, another 2 books to finish the series but the author dropped hints that 8th books is possible. The books are ranging from 700 to 1000 pages each and the font used in the books is quite small. In other words, a lot of reading but an interesting one. |

QUOTE(xy2610 @ Nov 4 2011, 08:45 PM) Currently 5 Books. Finally can't resist the temptation and ordered the books from amazon. First 4 softcover boxset + book 5 hardcover + shipping is still so much cheaper than buying locally. Supposingly, another 2 books to finish the series but the author dropped hints that 8th books is possible. The books are ranging from 700 to 1000 pages each and the font used in the books is quite small. In other words, a lot of reading but an interesting one. yup. Hate it when the author is taking their sweet time and keep changing his mind on how to end the books. Everyone is so afraid he'll pull another robert jordan stunt |

At least, I quite enjoy Song of Ice And Fire so far well into the middle of Book 5. Can't wait to finish it but don't want to finish it as well. As for the TV show, I'm not sure how the GOT fans will handle the sheer amount of new characters in Season 2. Better not expect too much frm s2. Especially the battle scene.
We all see what happened to the so called battle scene between the Starks and lannisters in s1 HBO is rich, but aint rich enuf to film a full scale battle scene on tv |

Dang!
Characters from Book 2 being cut for Season 2. Actually, it is a good idea since we'll only get 10 episodes for Season 2. The full article here. |

In the meantime, I'm going to finish the latter half of Book 5 very slowly and indulge myself with the GOT comics. And, more excitingly, Winter Is Coming site reported that an exclusive clip of Season 2 will be out tomorrow. |

Nominated for Best Drama Series for Golden Globe. (not a GG fan since the snub of my favourite show in the past years)
No Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Boardwalk Empire is not as strong as last year, IMO. American Horror Story is getting very good but not a chance. The only strong competition will be from Homeland. Game of Thrones will have a very strong chance to win. |

QUOTE(Davidtcf @ Jan 10 2012, 09:45 PM) lol, Skyrim feels like a far prequel of Game of Throne with Dragons roaming around everyday. Some of the cities in Game of Throne looks like Skyrim's cities. I did know that Bethesda was offered the Game of Thrones license to make an official Game of Thrones RPG, which its suppose to be similar to Skyrim but with Game of Thrones characters. Unfortunately, Beth declined the offer because they want their creative freedom with their own Elder Scrolls and the license was given to Cyanide who made the crappy Game of Thrones RTS. finally, a large scale battle.
one of the things i thought the 1st series lacked was the battles depicted in the book, especially the one where they captured jamie lannister and also lifting the siege at riverrun... |

QUOTE(azarimy @ Mar 5 2012, 11:41 PM) finally, a large scale battle. Blackwater will be big-scaled on TV standard for sure.one of the things i thought the 1st series lacked was the battles depicted in the book, especially the one where they captured jamie lannister and also lifting the siege at riverrun... If only they have $100 millions budget for the battle scenes, GRRM would not need to trim down anything from his first draft of the script for Blackwater. QUOTE(greyshadow @ Mar 6 2012, 10:11 AM) it's cheap nowadays And also the opening sequence in its full glory.... quick go grab one!! to see Rose titties in 1080p!! I'll be playing them on me PS3 |

Just finished watching season 1. Epic indeed but i sincerely wish to know how they capture Jamie Lannister the king slayer after fooling Tywin Lannister with the 2000 armies.
And yes, its sad to see the nobleman Eddard Stark died. Really wish to see him live. |

just pop in the bluray last night.... and boy... i'm blown away by the extras in it
the extra is like the mini-wikipedia of GoT, detailing the lores, maps, characters, houses, history and important events and the events before the GoT are narrated skillfully with POV from different houses by Tywin, Robert, Bran & others i was buried so deep in the extras, before i knew it, it's already 1AM, original plan was to watch ep1 go get this little piece of gems on Bluray, a must buy for GoT fans |

Shae is not too bad in the Season 2 preview so far. Shae is the ugliest woman i've seen in GOT so far. she's supposed to be one of the hottest, how come the producers screw this up? |

i'm almost done with book 2: clash of kings. i wanted to buy the 3rd book, but sorta confused. there seems to be 2 different versions.
one book is a storm of swords. then there are another two books called a storm of swords: book 1 and book 2. anybody know what's the difference? the font size is more or less the same, and page numbers for the storm of swords book is more or less the same with either one of the 2nd set. so it's not a reprint. but since the 2nd set is almost twice thicker (combined), does that mean more chapters not previously printed on the other book? |

QUOTE(azarimy @ Mar 30 2012, 02:08 PM) Oh yeah... The single storm of swords is the combination of the storm of swords 1 and 2. Like bro xy2610 said, in some regions storm of swords was split into books 1 and 2, in some other regions there is just one book. So if you get the one book version buy that one, otherwise if you buy only book 1 you'll be missing out A LOT in the next book (Feast for crows)From wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Storm_of_Swords To date, A Storm of Swords is the longest novel in the series. It was so long that in the UK its paperback edition was split in half, Part 1 being published as Steel and Snow in June 2001 (with the one-volume cover) and Part 2 as Blood and Gold in August 2001 (with a specially-commissioned new cover). In France, the decision was made to cut the novel into four separate editions. This post has been edited by tekplyrX: Mar 30 2012, 02:31 PM |

Well, so far, the series has been small-scaled!Otherwise, HBO will have to invest at least $100 mil per episode. QUOTE Game of Fools: Season 2 of hit show to be aired next week. Source: http://bit.ly/jdVlHy![]() Game of Thrones is April Fools' joke. The second season gets underway the night next week, and it's evident right from the opening scene APRIL FOOLS ! - a callous display of cruelty from the boy king, King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), channelling his inner Columbine - that, if anything, the stakes have been raised on what now shows signs of becoming the most ambitious, eye-filling fantasy epic in television history. |

Can't believe what I have seen
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Overall, I enjoy the whole episode and it is stronger than the very first episode in many ways. The score, the breath-taking scenery and the CGI are just top-notch, no TV show has been so good in these departments before. It feels like a Hollywood movie. The only thing that feel a bit lacking is the scene with the new characters. If they just follow the book to open Season 2 with that scene, the flow will feel so much better and stronger. And Peter Dinklage is the new lead, can't wait to see his name on the Best Actor list. The ending is just epic that it makes Gendry seems like a very important character. Next week cannot come sooner. This post has been edited by xy2610: Apr 2 2012, 04:17 PM |

It didn't 'air' on tv exactly. HBO has an online service in some countries where you can stream new episodes online. They've done it with their other shows in the past also, like True Blood, etc.

QUOTE(expl0it @ Apr 4 2012, 01:34 AM) Yup, its the first paperback printing I believe. There'll be a reprint/reissue in July I think, with a possible chapter/prologue from the next book. Most likely different artwork as well. Damn, the ending was not in the book if I remember correctly.___ So, do I wait till next week to watch EP2 or watch it now? Edit : decided to watch it. Thought it was better than ep1 I can't wait for Episode 3..... Yes, overall, better than the first. And a lot of things are just so wrong...the brothel scene, LOL and the horse riding scene. Just picked the first and 2nd ep. Show does starts with a bang and although i've already read the books, to actually experience those things visually is quite disturbing to say the least. So much boobness and taboo on screen, our censor board will have a field day with it haha.
The direwolves look majestic tho and it's what the fans been waiting to see. |

This actress looks a little bit older than the character in the books. But Salador Saan is the funniest character so far in these two episodes. |

Yeah i think that was the intend behind her casting, she's is rather plain looking but that fiery hair and the way she plays with words elevates her sexiness. Besides, the 'plain' look is rather common in the series. There are some really bad looking women in the series but i don't mind it at all because it only adds to the authenticity of the settings. Have you seen that new Merlin or King Authur series ? Guinevere looks like a modern sex in the city kinda gal and it totally kills the immersion. |

QUOTE(swks26 @ Apr 6 2012, 09:02 PM) Haha i know right. I was cringing the whole time during that scene. It was horrific. But it's still a great scene and essential for the tv audience because they would made to believe that Theon would sleep with anything that moves - this makes the revelation of him groping his own sister much more shocking and harder to swallow. This post has been edited by hfi: Apr 6 2012, 09:20 PM |

HBO greenlit Season 3.
QUOTE HBO RENEWS GAME OF THRONES FOR THIRD SEASON Source hereFirst Episode Of The Second Season Has Already Grossed 8.3 Million Viewers LOS ANGELES, April 10, 2012 – HBO has renewed GAME OF THRONES for a third season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “Series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss raised our expectations for the second season – and then surpassed them,” said Lombardo. “We are thrilled by all the viewer and media support we’ve received for the series, and can’t wait to see what Dan and David have in store for next season.” Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, GAME OF THRONES is an epic drama set in the world of Westeros, where ambitious men and women of both honor and ill-repute live in a land whose summers and winters can last years. The Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning fantasy series began its ten-episode second season Sunday, April 1 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), with other episodes debuting subsequent Sundays at the same time. Among the early critical praise for the second season, Newsday called GAME OF THRONES “the best show on television,” while the Los Angeles Times termed the series “a cinematic feast” and “masterful.” The Wall Street Journal hailed the show as “magnificent” and USA Today called it “near perfection.” According to early data, GAME OF THRONES’ season two premiere has already accumulated a gross audience of 8.3 million viewers, and is on track to easily surpass the season one average of 9.3 million viewers. Season two cast members include: Emmy® and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aidan Gillen, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson and Alfie Allen. Season two credits: The executive producers of GAME OF THRONES are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger; co-executive producers, George R.R. Martin, Vanessa Taylor, Alan Taylor, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis; produced by Bernadette Caulfield. This post has been edited by xy2610: Apr 11 2012, 12:53 AM |

hope season 3 no more 10 EP. 10 EP too short for a season IMO. Make it the regular 20-22/24.

Thankfully large part of the settings can be shot on the natural landscape across the UK. I remember when Rome was cancelled because it was so expensive to design and create those sets. HBO came out saying some years later that they regretted this decision. I don't think they will repeat this mistake again. |

OT a bitbasically another main reason for Rome's cancellation is they run out of original stories unlike GoT, which is based on existing popular novel, Rome are based on popular historical figures, and basically after the death of Anthony & Cleopatra, and one of the main cast, there isn't much story to tell after that man... i missed Pullo |

Pullo was a proper badass haha. Man i miss that show.
But yeah, you are right the death of 2 lovers made the story much less appealing. Originally, the story arc of Cleo and Anthony was meant to be slowly developed in 2 separate seasons; season 3 and 4. Season 2 was originally planned to center around Brutus. Season 5, the final season, would tell the story of Jesus and how Rome dealt with him. But when HBO told season 2 was going to be the last season, the producers decided to just cramp everything into season 2 - minus Jesus. |
