dem...after The Killing, i can say for sure that this is the next best thing...

love the dark medieval setting...so many characters got introduced, yet hard to root for any of them seeing how messed up the world is...

and i agree, the opening credit is great!!

based on the first episode: it's great!!
based on the novel reader regarding the story: promising.

i'm not big on medieval tv series really, the only reason i watch the 1st eps is mainly because there's a fantasy elements present...n turns out, i'm hooked!!

i just hope HBO will continue adapting the series until the end...

there should rules regarding spoilers here.. sad.gif

like this from other forum:
SPOILER RULES:

- ABSOLUTELY NO BOOK SPOILERS. It doesn't matter if they're under spoiler tags, they should not be in this thread. Use the other thread for book-related television discussion. This includes alluding to things, subtle hinting, comparing the books to the show, etc...

- Regular TV thread rules apply:

Once something airs in the US on the East Coast, it's fair game. Feel free to discuss anything that has aired without using spoiler tags.
Anything that hasn't aired yet should be spoiler tagged including information from HBO previews, loglines, trailers, interviews, and a few other places.
Speculation from people that haven't read the books is fine and encouraged.

- For the book readers that want to lurk in this thread:

No taunting or teasing:
e.g. "Oh, just wait until you guys see what happens to him next week!!!"
No leading questions:
e.g. "What do you think will happen to this character by the end of the season?"
No comparing the book to the show:
e.g. "Well, that's different than in the book where they..."
Answering questions is fine when the information is readily available from what has aired on the show.
e.g. Q: "Wait, how is Robb related to Ned?" A: "Robb is Ned's son."

Have you completed up to the 5th book in the series? If so:

1) Does it get better from book to book?
2) Should I purchase and read the novel up to the current TV season adaptation?
*
I don't read the book, but ppl who did has said that 1-3 are stellar but the 4-5 are disappointment.

QUOTE(whoba @ Jun 4 2013, 05:01 PM)
The stark family reminds me of the stereotypical 'good' family; eg. the aragorn in LOTR, or Potters in Harry potter  biggrin.gif. I think ppl see them as the main protaganists of any clichéd story and Lannisters as the antagonist, and you expect in the end the Starks somehow will defeat the Lannisters and become king. So perhaps its refreshing to see the favourites among fans die off quickly; and the development of the whole show now to be totally unknown.
*
I understand the writer intention to go against the norm/cliche, problem is there's nothing bad ever happen to the "evil" Lannisters AT ALL;
-Tyrion is pretty cool...o wait, he got fcked constantly by others.
-Jaimie loses hand!!...o wait...he used to be a prettty cool guy apparently.
It's just ridiculous.

Question to novel readers :
-does the story so far is about half of the third novel?
-how many novel were planned for the series anyway?

I get the feeling that the tv series will surpass the novel in 2-3 years with the current pace of releases.
And I heard the 4th novel is pretty short in story progression.
