I think I'm only up to 2nd episode with the book (Jon & the Imp still on the way to The Wall, someone tried to kill Bran) Damn they missed out quite a lot of details in the series. Gonna be a damn epic sight if this was made into series 2. As of now Daenerys is the last surviving Targaryen, daughter of the Mad King. In book 5 I think they gonna reveal that Rhaegar's son (Rhaegar was Mad King's eldest son, killed by Robert Baratheon cause they accused him of kidnapping Eddard Stark's sister, Lyanna which is Robert's true love), Aegon Targeryan VI actually survived and preparing to enter the Westeros power struggle. Aegon VI had a better claim to the throne than Daenerys since he is the eldest son of the eldest prince.
