Seems to me, the lowered the iDigi call plan cost but increased their iphone cost to counter balance the difference. This is how I found out..
Original Digi iphone plan during lauching. My wife got her iphone 3GS 16GB for RM1090 + iDigi138 call plan 24 mths for RM3477.60 for a total of RM4567.60 New Digi iphone plan. Where as this new Digi iphone plan for the similar model cost RM2042 and call plan for 24 months cost RM2268 for a total of RM4310. So difference is a mere 257.60 savings/discount over 24 months. Digi is playing with numbers only. Putting old wine in new bottle |

What's up with Digi ?
Lets take iDigi88 , now reduced to RM60 Saving RM88 - RM60 = RM 28 x 24 months = RM 672.00! With iDigi88, the 3GS 32GB price is RM1,790. But under payment options the price became RM 2,462.00 which is RM 1,790 + RM 672.00 = RM 2462.00 WTH the savings was added back to the phone price? Can someone tell me what is Digi doing ? |

kind of confuse eh? Payment page shown price for 3gs 16gb is RM2062, but price plan shown as RM1390?
Added on July 7, 2010, 2:21 pmok, i take back my word, the RM1390 mean the total saving of the plan after we sign up =\ This post has been edited by aH wAi: Jul 7 2010, 02:21 PM |

If it means the total savings of the plan, it doesn't make sense. Meaning if I sign up for the iDiGi 238, I get FREE savings on the iPhone 3G 8Gb? Meaning no savings? It should be reflecting the iPhone price.

Im pretty sure a lot of people are angry with how Digi does their advertising this time around. Its for sure not transparent. I almost buy into their trap only to stop when being told having to pay RM2k+ for 16GB 3GS when they clearly stated much less.
Here is the detailed of how we got "cheated" by Digi numbers. Apparently, Digi is offering no discount at all for their IDigi plan. This is what they did. According to their IDigi plan, the plan they plan to tie you up is still the normal IDigi 88, 138 and 238. Under these 3 plans, you will be eligible to buy the phone for the amount they advertised. But HOLD ON THERE. Thats not going to be the price you paid. What they did to recoup the cost of the phone is fantastic. For example, if you signed up for IDigi 138, they will collect RM48 x 24months in advance, coupled with RM890 for 16GB GS. That works out to be RM2,042 as you will be surprised to hear when they explained it to you. So yeah, Digi is misleading bunchs of us into believing they are actually making the phone cheaper with cheaper IDigi plan but thats not the reality. The price slashing on the IDigi plan is not a DISCOUNT but rather a chunk of it is being transfer to Digi in advance for them to recoup the phone cost. So after minus RM48 from your IDigi 138, you only pay RM90 for the rest of the 24months long contract. BRILLIANT!!??? DAMN For once, I really feel DIGI SUCKS!!! I think you deserve what you got.
get it straight. There's no way to get iPhone cheaper. only 2 options. 1. pay the full amount = RM2500 (+/- RM100) with no contract, and you do whatever you want (use prepaid, use other carrier SIM, use it as modem only) 2. purchase with contract, get a discount (up to RM2500) but absolutely no way to get out of the contract for free. No apologies to all the cheapskates out there, but WHY should DiGi give you a cutting-edge smartphone, which millions of people are queueing up to buy, all over the world FOR FREE ?? its not a charity, its a business! if you don't like the offer, then don't buy and advise your friends and family not to buy. But calling DiGi "trap" and "DiGi sucks" ... is not fair either. Its marketing, and its your responsibility as a consumer to read everything before buying & not saying things like "I nearly got trap" ... what trap? everything is explained in detail before you sign up! what kind of useless trap is explained to you before you step into it?! |

QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Jul 7 2010, 03:39 PM) I think you deserve what you got. Digi should make it clear and transparent. This is really misleading. I dont think its cheapskate at all. In fact, Digi is almost giving user free internet with Smart Plan when they signed up for 2 year plan with HTC Legend. The saving were enough to cover internet cost for 15months. If you made enough call for the bill to get over RM100 every month, it will give a further 25% which makes it free internet for almost 20months.get it straight. this is what I mean. the Legend is nowhere near the iPhone.
don't compare a BMW with a Porsche and say "why don't they give me the Porsche free? the BMW guys are doing it?" ... fact remains that there's a healthy market willing to pay for the iPhone... so why should ANYONE give iPhone for free / nearly free? |

I could not agree at all. Instead I was playing with Legend all the while I was there. I already knew what the Iphone OS is capable of thus its boring, but its simplicity really beats Android. However, Android is full of surprises and will be packed with Flash. Maybe you got too brainwashed with Jobs ******* but the reason why Im still undecided between Iphone and Android is FLASH. Iphone is cutting edge? Iphone4 maybe, but 3GS, cut throat got la. |

Flash = non-issue.
HTML5 support = issue. Android = suprises, yeah... you're showing off something, and your friend with another Android phone can't download it, yeah, that's suprising. I'll repeat myself, iPhone is not for the hardcore geeks, its for the consumers. However, like most Apple stuff, if you are a real geek... there's some really really cool stuff hidden away (like Cydia) |
