QUOTE(xaw5126 @ Jul 7 2010, 05:36 PM) @blackchides, @cynical66 the price is the same la, they just moved the numbers around. 1+2+3 = 6, but if I asked you to pay the 6 over 6 months... total is still 6, but you thought 1+2+(1*6) cheaper I've to be honest, I don't really get what you mean. My understanding is this:
Let's assume that after iPhone 4 is introduced, the iPhone 3GS will follow the pricing of the current iPhone 3G; which is a fair assumption since most countries are doing the same.
That means the new 3GS price after the launch of 4 will be approximately RM 1200 (price of 3G before this new discount period) with the DIGI 88 plan. And that is only for the 8GB if we were to follow the US's phone lineup.
Right now, you can get the 16GB for only RM890 and a much better rate plan (DIGI 138) at only RM90/month. So if you're planning to get the 3GS and dont care much for the iPhone 4, isn't now a great time to do so?
Of course this is my understanding; there may have been something I've missed out and if so, I stand corrected.Edit to add: Okay, I just checked out the DIGI iphone thread. All is clear now. Haha, awesome marketing by DIGI. Of course by marketing, I mean cheating.. This post has been edited by blackchides: Jul 7 2010, 06:32 PM

QUOTE(danieloo @ Jul 28 2010, 10:24 AM) How can you say you were fooled? You need to read by yourself before proceed. Then you won't be fool by the figures or marketing plan. Glad to know digi can sort out for you. He can say he was fooled because DIGI's customer service told him it was possible. Can you really blame him?

People want ASTRO for the TV channels (services), the dishes and decoder (physical items) are secondary. People want iPhone for the phone (physical item), the data and line (services) are secondary because they want to be able to choose their own service provider. Your analogy is flawed. Again, if you do not work with DiGi or Apple, who are you to know that DiGi do not earn more than a few ringgit from selling the iPhone outright? Added on September 21, 2010, 6:46 pmPrash, save your breath. I sympathize with you. There is no doubt telcos earn money from selling phones outright. Xaw's point is probably that telcos earn a lot more from contracts and since demand should far exceed supply now, they might want to give priority to people who want the contracts so it's a long shot that they'd sell them outright from the off. It's a reasonable guess. It's just the way he says things though; he often makes personal attacks and comes across as very confrontational. The guy should really take a chill pill.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(clayclws @ Sep 21 2010, 08:04 PM) Yes. I would say that from a business point of view, selling with contract would earn more. I said, "who are you to know that DiGi do not earn more than a few ringgit from selling the iPhone outright?" But please, read my post again. I was responding to the other guys' post. If he does not work at Maxis, DiGi or Apple, he should not assume he knows better than others, and at the same time, personally attack others. No one knows how much telcos earn by selling outright or with contract, except those in DiGi, Maxis and Apple. Yeah, I read your original post and understood it clearly. I agreed for the most part in my reply.

QUOTE(DavidLMK @ Sep 23 2010, 06:43 PM) Whether they release it now, or a few hours later, it doesn't really make a difference. Because we can only get it tomorrow. But everyone is getting excited including me to know the official pricing and the plan details. It matters for people who booked for Maxis' midnight launch and are still deciding between Digi and Maxis
