I think you deserve what you got. get it straight. There's no way to get iPhone cheaper.
only 2 options. 1. pay the full amount = RM2500 (+/- RM100) with no contract, and you do whatever you want (use prepaid, use other carrier SIM, use it as modem only) 2. purchase with contract, get a discount (up to RM2500) but absolutely no way to get out of the contract for free.
No apologies to all the cheapskates out there, but WHY should DiGi give you a cutting-edge smartphone, which millions of people are queueing up to buy, all over the world FOR FREE ?? its not a charity, its a business! if you don't like the offer, then don't buy and advise your friends and family not to buy.
But calling DiGi "trap" and "DiGi sucks" ... is not fair either. Its marketing, and its your responsibility as a consumer to read everything before buying & not saying things like "I nearly got trap" ... what trap? everything is explained in detail before you sign up! what kind of useless trap is explained to you before you step into it?!

this is what I mean. the Legend is nowhere near the iPhone. don't compare a BMW with a Porsche and say "why don't they give me the Porsche free? the BMW guys are doing it?" ... fact remains that there's a healthy market willing to pay for the iPhone... so why should ANYONE give iPhone for free / nearly free?

Flash = non-issue. HTML5 support = issue. Android = suprises, yeah... you're showing off something, and your friend with another Android phone can't download it, yeah, that's suprising. I'll repeat myself, iPhone is not for the hardcore geeks, its for the consumers. However, like most Apple stuff, if you are a real geek... there's some really really cool stuff hidden away (like Cydia)

that's the thing, you see... if developers can't see a monetary gain, then they'll never develop for Android / iOS / Windows 7 / whatever. obviously, having major players like UbiSoft / EA / ngmoco / Popcap is definitely good... but iOS App Store is actually skewed to making it easier for the independent developers... no one in the history of publishing / programming has ever made it easier for the indie scene to reach a wider market... before Apple

@blackchides, @cynical66 the price is the same la, they just moved the numbers around. 1+2+3 = 6, but if I asked you to pay the 6 over 6 months... total is still 6, but you thought 1+2+(1*6) cheaper

um... if you're on Digi, you will not be able to modify the APN... iTunes is supposed to do that for you. please re-connect your iPhone to iTunes and it will download and set up the correct details for you.

(48*24) + 1590 = RM2742 ... I paid (50*24) + RM2500 2 years ago for my iPhone 3G, cos Celcom didn't have a plan for iPhone and still doesn't.
so I'd say Digi + contract = cheaper.

right now, don't buy. wait for iPhone4. reasonable RRP = iPhone4 16 - RM2490. iPhone4 32 - RM2990. I'll leave the rates / discounts / contracts to our friends in yellow & green

plug into iTunes, with your Digi sim card? you should get a message from iTunes that new carrier file is available.

aiyah... warranty starts from the day you buy the phone, same like iPod. you cannot lari from iPhone sales date, cos Apple now has very accurate tracking.
you register or don't register makes no difference to the warranty...

AFAIK, you can negotiate this with Digi. try being nice first... cos technically the contract says "no matter what, I agree to keep paying Digi RMxx per month till xx date"
@E-J@1 yeah, warranty is from date of purchase. like any phone, if you buy it today (22 July 2010) and keep in a drawer, your warranty is already running. why should your warranty start when you register it?

@aarex my personal planning is RM2500 for iPhone4, based on iPhone3G and 3G[S] all selling for that much.
the question is how will Digi package it? over 3K has never happened thru official channels, only thru black market... most expensive was RM2990 for 32GB iPhone3G[S]

that's clever... they keep you on Digi... and you pay for the new iPhone4... at least they're doing that... still not confirmed though...
