Hi all,

Need some advice...

I workout during the weekdays 3-4 times a week, after office hour, start at 7pm, end 8.30-9pm.

I need some advice on my protein intake timing.. I am drinking ON 100% Whey and MHP Parabolic (slow release)

I drink one scoop on Whey at 5.30pm.

After workout, drink another scoop one Whey at about 9pm

Have dinner..then before going to bed, around 11pm, drink one scoop of MHP Parabolic

Next morning...drink one scoop of MHP Parabolic at 9.30am.

My question or concern is....am i drinking too much protein in a short period of time from the start of my workout till i go to sleep. A total of two scoop of Whey and one scoop of Parabolic all within 6 hours. Is this ok?

Yes. I think it is 1.5 gm per pound. So, for my weight of about 130pound and the total amount of protein shake i drink during workout day is about 80gm, i should be ok. But the questions is, is it ok to drink up to the amount during the short period of time.

it is always advisable to spread the protein intakes.
perhaps 2 scoops for each meal for 4 meals in a day.
breakfast, lunch, pre-wo and post-wo/supper

I think this is

analysis paralysis

protein supplement = convenient food in a tub like milk powders. JUST EAT THEM when you run out of time, else EAT SOME DEAD ANIMAL FLESH or eggs

I love eggs like bout 20 of them a day, 30 a day is like a whole new level

1.5 per pound of bodyweight is sufficient. Why so much protein . . . if more than this, you got little room for carb and fat .

It looks interesting seriously but I'm apprehensive about this no carb diet. I'm afraid I might go flat. What about the pwo shake composition of dex and whey? You're saying you just take whey? Then how's the liver glycogen replenished? Would whey alone be sufficient for an insulin spike?

My carbs was low, comprised mainly of vegetables. PWO was combo of whey and 2 tablespoon of red palm oil, no carbs.
I have tried both the insulin spike theory by taking dex + whey and whey + fat. I didn't see any difference between the 2.

In fact, when I was on extremely low carb diet, I gained more than 10lbs of lean muscles. That showed that we don't need insulin spike to gain muscles.
FYI I was on this diet for 2 years. I gained pretty good strength level too. IMO, insulin spike is just a mere theory. If it was true, I wouldn't be able to gain muscle mass and strength. I put one of my boys on this diet and he gained pretty good muscles mass and got 4th placing in Mr KL Junior WITHOUT drugs.

Thank you. Worth a look. I think I went flat when I tried this a few months ago cos there wasn't sufficient fat in my diet. The whole eggs make sense, as a source of fat and way to fill in the caloric deficit. I did protein and fruits
and veg. Lost a lot of bodyfat, actually gained muscle at the same time but then into the 2 month I started going insanely flat!

So... Add more fat eh?

Yup, because you need a secondary source of energy when you do away with carb. When your body do not have raw material to make energy, muscle mass will be sacrificed. That's why you looked flat. Besides that you'll lose strength level and become lethargic in the long run. This happened to many local bodybuilders when they were dieting for competition because they believed in fat makes you fat. They ate mainly protein, very little carb and no fat. How not to lose muscles this way. No raw mat for the body to manufacture energy.

Take in more dietary fat to replace the carbs when you are on low carbs.

Actually both of them have methods which are different but I could say equally effective. Terry would still advocate some carbs. 4Rings higher fat.
