My telco here only give free 250mb data monthly which is impossible. Even my house got wifi, still insufficient as i'm an active user of foursquare, google buzz, fb and few social network apps. Not to mention checking email, surf, youtube etc. Then I subscribe 10Gb data monthly. Solve the problem haha

Wah, to fully utilize your data plan i think you need to charge at least 3 times a day~~ shocking.gif shocking.gif

My usage around 3GB a month but I am on unlimited data postpaid plan, so is not an issue for me. Bulk of my data download attributed to RSS news feeds, tweeter, few email account which I set my phone to download every hour. Browsing average an hour a day

wait 2.2 (froyo)

You can root the Desire and even on ver 2.1 - you can install apps on the SD card. Even on Froyo 2.2 it does not mean that all apps will be installed on SD as this needs the developer to upgrade their apps to have this function. I am using Froyo 2.2 ( Paul Modaco release ) and also tested other 2.2 customized release , I do notice that for some apps if you "force install" on the SD, the apps will not appear on your homescreen if you select it. What you see is just a image of the app. But the app can still be executed and the original icon of the app remains if you select it from the menu. Such a issue does not appear in all the cooked roms ver 2.1 I have tested

I believe the photos taken are stored into your SD. So does your music.

500mb is enough, unless u on youtube everyday...i am us ing 500mb, house and office got wifi, and most of the hsopping complex do have wifi as well, i only used up to 12% of my 500mb, according to watchdog, yet to receive bill, will verify if watch dog 3g is accurate with the bill later..and fyi, my usage on internet is only to read desire thread, facebook, including loading photo, emails, online banking, google talk, and msn..out of 30days, i used only 12%...
*
I kinda agree with you that if you have wireless in the office and at home, the data plan usage will be minimal as we spend most of our time in those two places. As for me, I am in the same situation and last month I only used up my data plan (1.5GB subscribed) as little as 5.2% of the quota.

If you are always on the go, I think 1.5GB is just nice with all the emails and internet and once a while FB or Youtube...

To have apps install in SD card, just wait for froyo release, or root your phone (which you have to give up the warranty).

Or the other workaround is, install apps control, then you can have all the apk file for all the apps you downloaded to be kept in your SD card . When you need to use those apps, just install it from apps control.

The only person that can answer you this question will be: The one who has rooted and unroot back and still manage to claim warranty from SIS.

It is possible to unroot if you save a copy of your custom rom, if you know how to revert to the normal rom and use it.
Therefore, just use stock rom till Froyo comes biggrin.gif

Yes you can unroot. The problem is you cannot remove the locked bootloader.
On a unrooted original phone -when bootup you will see a lock closed ; in a rooted phone and a phone after unroot - you will see the lock with the clasp out showing unlock. Unroot a previously rooted phone will allow you to install back the original rom in case you need it. This is useful if you want to update your phone OTA directly from Google.
