i think gals and guys can be good frens too..
i hv 2 best frens who are guys and i m closer to them than anybody else..we can talk about anything esp crap n baseless stories.. guys somehow are generally not so sensitive to being joked and played ard.. and they keep secrets better too and forgets bout things fast!! girls tend to be 'small gas' at times and they gossip a loT and they remember ur mistakes forever!!(sorry gals, although i m a girl too, but tat's wat i think)
my 2 guy best frens were the one who taught me how to drive, how to park a car properly.. without the tension like my mum or dad or bro or sis sitting beside me.. n we are still good frens as ever now even i hv my own bf n they hv their own gfs..
so.. gals & guys CAN be good frens afterall, not necessarily hv to gain something from one another.. just plain friendship is good!!
