no they don't ask for your old sim. they don't even care where it is. they will charge you rm25 to your phone bill, give you the new sim, and (for me, at least), within 10 minutes the old sim is deactivated and the new sim can use liao.

I've noticed that my battery life on iPhone 4 is suffering, but not because of what people might think.

This bloody thing is so beautiful, I keep playing with it even when I have nothing left to do LOL! Every 5 minutes I pick it up and turn it on, open mail, open my reader app, nothing new, put down. Repeat.

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/08/31/mexica...d-of-september/

CanalMX reports on comments from an executive at Mexican carrier Telcel claiming that Apple is set to release a revised version of the iPhone 4 by the end of September to address the highly-publicized antenna issue. Telcel began offering the iPhone 4 in Mexico last Friday as part of a quiet expansion that saw the device also come to the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Portugal, and Slovakia.

According to Marco Quatorze, Telcel's Director of Value Added Services, the iPhone 4 sold in Mexico will initially be the same hardware as that sold in the U.S. and elsewhere, with Apple offering a free case to address potential issues with antenna performance. But he also noted that as of September 30th, when the free case program expires, revised hardware without the reception issues will become available.

The veracity of Quatorze's claim is unknown, as it is unclear whether a carrier executive at his level would even be privy to such information, and it is possible that he may simply be mistaken in his understanding of Apple's September 30th expiration date for the free case program. At Apple's iPhone 4 press conference last month, Steve Jobs noted that the free case program was launched with an initial expiration date of September 30th to provide the company with time to continue its investigation of the antenna issue and perhaps come up with a better solution for future customers.

Not too sure about this. Firstly as mentioned in the article itself, the guy could have misunderstood the Sep 30th issue.

If true however, Apple better move carefully. It might be best to upgrade the harware silently, without much fanfare, as it may backfire with the original buyers angry that they were 'lied' to, as according to the press conference Apple said there was no problem.

Kinda similar to when Apple reduced the price of the iPhone, forcing Jobs to apologize and extend $100 credit to existing users.

In any case, only a month away. For now, looking forward to tomorrows media event. Hoping for new iPod Touch with Facetime, can buy as birthday present for my grandparents, easier to communicate smile.gif

LOL yeah actually my iPhone 4 battery life is much better than my 3GS. Was just saying that its so beautiful, and feels so nice in the hand, I end up using it sooo much more, I'm in love with it.

Kind of a compliment to the iPhone 4, my most beautiful gadget I've owned to date.

Good point. I doubt that will ever happen. I think Iphone 4 is now out of the picture and Apple is probably focusing on the next generation of Iphone due to be released next June. Why would they want to cause an uproar among existing users anyway? I think the antennagate issue is very much over and locked away safely in Apple's history book.

Yeah I know that this is a Malaysian forum. My point is anyone can post here to get help and it need not be Malaysian. It can be Singaporeans or even Malaysians from overseas. They might have purchasedtheir IP4 from wherever they are now and came here for help. As for the remark "you have obviously never been to /k/" I don't know what you mean.
*
why we cannot make such assumption? if i say something costs 1k... this being a malaysian forum, of course ppl will assume it's in RM right ;P of course anyone in any country can log in, but majority is located in malaysia

new antenna design? well i hope the sides are less shiny lol. looks better in the pics IMO

i realize that my iphone 4 control simply goes haywire when i use bluetooth, play game/browsing or just simply clicking on the icons on home screen and charge all at the same time.
it functions normally back once i unplugged the sync cable that was charging it. tried about 3-4 times and resulted the same. not sure if charging while using bluetooth causes any confusion in the controls to the phone. am using a bluetooth stereo headset.
using iOS 4.0.1 here. any other ppl mind trying to see if this happens to others as well?

Yup no issues whatsoever for me too. 4.02.

By the way app recommendation: Pulse. It's a reader app, but the difference is it's layout which makes it attractive to read.

Did anyone get a iPhone 4 from US? Is it recommended to do so? iPhone 4 16gb is around usd599 which is RM1880.

a friend of mine is there now so still hesitate whether want to get it there (afraid warranty issue) or wait for Digi/Maxis (expensive and tie to 2-Y plan most likely).

I don't know, went the unlocking route with the original iPhone. That experience was enough to make me never want to go that route again.

The convenience of just clicking the Update button in iTunes is unmatched. I would advise you to get a factory unlocked unit.

If one is not concerned about upgrades of the firmware, getting the software sim unlock version is alright. Most will regret buying such units though is cheaper. You will be frustrated when there are new upgrades.

Any musicians here? I noticed this app called AmpliTube which I think is really cool.

It basically turns your iPad or iPhone into virtual guitar and bass rigs. You will need an iRig interface sold by the same company. After that its literally plug in your electric guitar, and play!

I'm really tempted to buy this. Imagine pulling this out at your friend's house, then just plugging in an electric guitar into your iPhone. Insane!
