contracted phone and unlocked phone is 2 different thing

contracted phone:-

1. doesnt mean dat the phone is locked
2. some telco lock your phone to their sim card - dat means u cant use other telco or limited telco due to cheaper price offered by them for the phone.
3. contracted phone means u hav to sign a contract like 2 years or so to get the phone with the price or promotion or package, etc.

unlocked phone:-

1. u can use it with any telco you prefer.
2. of cos it'll be abit more expensive.
3. contract or not, all malaysia iphone is unlocked & you can change to any other you like if u feels dat the telco u choose now doesnt suit you.

i juz read this from gsmarena.com

QUOTE
The latest iPhone 4 supports Wi-Fi b/g/n standards. Though we didn’t have a Wireless N router for testing, we can happily confirm that the Wi-Fi connection is much faster than that of the iPhone 3G over a G connection. What’s more, if you press your palm against the iPhone 4 Wi-Fi antenna – the metal strip on the upper left hand side of the phone – you even get a signal boost. That’s exactly the opposite to the issue we’re having with the cell signal.

hahah. anyone tried it?

@stringfellow

First of all, I follow lowyat forum AppleBite section quite often, and I really much appreciate for all the posts that you have contributed and honestly I would say you're the most "Apple-guy" I can see in this forum. BTW, return to the topic, haha:

1. I've tried on Foursquare here in Singapore and everytime I search the place where I was at that time, I can only see one particular Mayor in that place and no one else in the list.. I'm not too sure how ppl can add me as friends if I check into that place, or vice versa, how I add people checked into the place?

2. Nice sharing on Twitter, actually I'm kind of keen to enter the twitter-sphere too. Been wandering around for some time and still yet to figure out what sort of things/people to follow, maybe because almost nobody whom I know uses Twitter.. LOL

3. Opps, I forgot to mention in my last post too about this.. I do read tech news daily too (BTW, I agree with your point that tech news don't lie like politics, haha).. I used the Reeder app on my iPad to follow all the tech news on my Google Reader account, honestly, I love the simple interface of it and I am seriously considering to buy the iPhone version of Reeder. I think it will is worthy especially since now I have the data plan with me, which means I can browse the news wherever I am..

4. I have heard of the Layar app quite some time ago, just that during my 3GS days it's kind of useless without 3G on-board.. so is Layar by far one of the best "augmented-reality" app? (Am I right that it actually is an augmented reality app?) The Buuuk app that I mentioned in my last post is somehow similar to Layar in searching for restaurants BUT, the augmented reality function of it is kind of lousy and not accurate, as far as I find out about the app.. haha..

My sharing..

You're right. I personally think that he's one of the most dedicated guy in AppleByte forum.

Now lemme list mine as well.

1. Productivity - GoodReader ($0.99) allows you to view almost all the popular files on your iPhone (Without the editing feature like QuickOffice).

2. Social Networking - Facebook, Twitter, IM+ (Try out IM lite if you don't wanna spend so much on this as they're almost the same), Skype and Whats App ($0.99)

3. Reference - Dictionary.com and WeDict (No longer in the App Store if I'm not mistaken)

4. Lifestyle - CineApps which helps you keep track of all the showtimes in most of the cinemas in Malaysia

5. News - Engadget, Eurosport, CNET, CNN, Time Mobile, NYTimes and Y! Finance

6. Games - Doodle Jump and Fruit Ninja are my recent favourites ($0.99 each). lol

Those without prices are FREE!
See, iPhone is more than just a gaming device. It can be a very productive tool which helps you in your daily life.

Hope it helps!

An iPhone without connectivity on the go is just like any other phone to me. To me, smartphones are made to be connected to the internet wherever you are.
Normal phones = Connecting with people.
Whereas Smartphones = Connecting to the world.

Great list you have!

I did use GoodReader before and it's REALLY good! I normally read my PDFs using the default iBook app using my iPad, I have yet to try viewing PDFs with the iBook on the iPhone.. who knows maybe it's great as well? I will try it in a few days time and maybe will give a review after that. (Or maybe someone else has got a comparison between viewing PDFs with the iBook and GoodReader can give a review.. haha..)

Erm, to be honest.. I'm using the iPhone 4 SG set.. well, I can recreate the signal drop problem covering the antenna area BUT, like what others have said, this is a non-issue as I have yet to experience any drop call and like what Apple has suggested, if you really worry about the problem, just use a casing.. BTW, I'm using my iPhone 4 without any casing but only with the PowerSupport Crystal film on the front and back (not forget to mention, the PS film is GREAT!!), and I love my iPhone 4 very well!!

I'm absolutely agree with you.. that's why I wrote my sharing posts which I feel excited to share once I started using my iPhone 4 with that comes along with a data plan.. and BTW, I did mention that I have wifi coverage in my uni area when I was using my 3GS, just that, beyond my uni area, I suffer from no data plan.. that's why I feel the important of a data plan accompanying a great smartphone like the iPhone..

Been having random shutdown problems with my 3GS on iOS4.0.1. Never had that problem with 4.0. Hope 4.0.2 solves this problem. sad.gif

just received an iPhone 4 by encik posmen just now... so frustrated.. after playing for 2 hours, already feel boring.. i admit it has the best screen for smartphone on this planet.. the size is thinner.. facetime, and one of the best camera resolution, but, is that all?

for those who haven't owned iphone product yet, iphone 4 is perfect for you.. it doesn't impress 3GS owner like me (at least).. shakehead.gif

Have you tried to facetime (is it a verb or noun?tongue.gif) from Melbourne to m'sia? I've tried to facetime my friend who is using Celcom but failed even I already put (+60) .. Is facetime an app like Skype?

** and I agree with the iOS4 thingy.. maybe I already get used with new OS

Anyone using silicone case? My silicone case is affecting my camera flash. The case camera aperture is fogging my camera flash causing the picture to appear washed out. Have to take off the silicone case each time I am using the flash. Any better silicone case to recommend?

i know this may look ridiculous for me to ask, you friend and you both have ip4 right and connected with wifi right? because FaceTime only works between ip4 and ip4 and only skype works between ip4 and others phone that installed skype. (of course if we JB it then we can use my3G to connect using 3G for facetime but still limit to ip4 icon_rolleyes.gif )

anyway did you apply for 3G data for the iphone? i find it quite shock because you told us that you feel bored with it were else were here was eager to get 1(including me haha) and use it... rclxm9.gif

p/s: btw first time i also feel not much different because we use the same iOS4 but its an ip4, much better than previous sibling thumbup.gif ..

Cheers.

IMO, the best part of iphone is the graphic, no matter for apps or games. This is the part where no other smartphones can challenge.

* The most useful apps for me are Foursquare, TrueHDR, Google Maps, DublinBuster (provides bus schedules n stations) and LondonTube

Its because I already have 3GS which I can still use all apps for my daily life. iPad can replace my netbook for foruming, facebook, and surfing/youtube-ing while I'm at home. But you're right, it subjects to our own personal needs

typical areas that iphone and its iOS4 excel at
1) Apps - if u can think of a need, there is already an app created for it.
2) Touch UI - natural, responsive and simply brilliant.
3) Retina- best display on the planet.
4) Aesthetic and ergonomics - most beautiful piece of volume manufacturing design on earth, and superb handling.

Hi guys,

I just for my first iPhone and have been playing with it a lot. I now got an app called fstream which will enable me to listen to radio through the internet. How do I set Malaysia's Hitz and Mix fm into it? Where can I go to find the settings required?
