brother prae need more of ur advice again notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

vobs, altezza and anywan pls feel free to comment also... will highly appreciate it notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Now, i have 2 rackets, one strung at 60lbs black code, the other cheap string at 45lbs

So I have tried praes suggestion, and i used the cheap string to string at 45lbs, hit with it for a few times dy….. and I find it ok… thumbup.gif in fact, I felt its better to do slices, and also much easier to block powerful and heavy shots. But however, with 45lbs I have to swing shorter, because if I swing like how I would swing as if at 60lbs the ball probably will go long.

So my question as of now is:

1. Should I use back 60lbs so that I can do longer swings?
2. Should I keep using the 45lbs so tht I can slowly get used to it and hopefully, in future I can do longer swings like how i would with 60lbs?
3. Can I switch around? ie: this week I use 45lbs, then next week use 60lbs, then following week use back 45lbs…. is it advisable to do this? Because if not, tht will mean my 60lbs strung black code will be of no use and have to wastefully, 'samtong' like mad and cut it cry.gif
4. Or…… shud I use back my 60lbs and keep on purposely hit the frame until the black code snap, then only start to try get used to 45lbs…?
5. I have 1 pack of synthetic gut string haven’t use yet….if I use it, wat tension shud I put?
6. I also have a pack of hybrid string (poly and synthetic gut), so if I wanna use it wat tension shud I put at the main and the cross respectively?
7. Is it advisable to string an edged poly string (black code, cyber blue gear) at the low tension at 45lbs?

THANKS IN ADVANCE notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Carto lol no need to use the " notworthy.gif " icon gila man, my face is blushing.......if ada web camera I look like cooked lobster x-p

Ok first thing's first hehehehe I am glad to hear you tried 45 lbs, and appreciate your review!

1. Should I use back 60lbs so that I can do longer swings?
If I am you, I would stick it out at 45 lbs for a while longer, also swing faster, it looks like you grasp some benefits of low tension poly's slice's are easier to perform, they skid/stay lower they don't sit up, easier to handle harder balls with less effort.....surely these will benefit you once you become a better player!!! Don't you think so!?

2. Should I keep using the 45lbs so tht I can slowly get used to it and hopefully, in future I can do longer swings like how i would with 60lbs?
Answered in post 1,hehehehe

Its basically up to you, I personally would not recommend it, as you are still on the learning progression curve, if you switch, it staggers and delays any improvement you should see or notice, however I would keep your 60 lbs racket as a back up racket, when playing conditions change, ie balls are botak, court conditions are heavier ie looks like rain....can use when its hot as well, as balls tend to fly faster, depends on what you need, more power or more control, only you can answer this question

4. Or…… shud I use back my 60lbs and keep on purposely hit the frame until the black code snap, then only start to try get used to 45lbs…?
Up to you again, why waste the price you paid for the blackcode!?! Keep as backup racket loh

5. I have 1 pack of synthetic gut string haven’t use yet….if I use it, wat tension shud I put?
Synthetic gut plays well if strung higher, but why are you going between cheap poly, good poly and synthetic gut......give yourself time to adjust say 2 months of playing with cheap poly at 45 lbs, ask your hitting partners if they feel any difference, make a mental note IF you feel any difference TRY all the shots you wanna try see what type of shots you can pull off, and what shots don't work.....

6. I also have a pack of hybrid string (poly and synthetic gut), so if I wanna use it wat tension shud I put at the main and the cross respectively?

This is subjective as different players prefer different tensions, you have just experimented with a cheap poly at 45lbs, try using that for at least 2 solid months...see what you think works for you. You can opt to string poly as a main and syn as a cross, tension depends on YOU.

7. Is it advisable to string an edged poly string (black code, cyber blue gear) at the low tension at 45lbs?
I use to string Blackcode at 45lbs I liked it however tension maintenance wasn't so good after a full sparring session tension would decrease by at least 10-15% so thats why I don't use Blackcode, I hit either very flat or with alot of spin depending on who I play. If I were sponsored or kena mega toto I would use Blackcode for 2 hours and cut it out and restring.....but sadly mimpi only.....

I am using Signum Pro Tornado as a main string, strung 42 lbs on Wilson k6.1 tour, tension maintenance is excellent...I don't really care if spin is there or not but I MUST have tension maintenance, but this is a textured string, and there is spin :-) win/win lah, if you wanna try this string, I think bro altezza has lobang for this string, can't hurt to ask him, give it a try if you can :-D

i understood this part, thx alot! but i need to clarify a bit: i already have 1 pack of synthetic string but dun intend to use it so soon... so let say i have been using this cheap poly at 45lbs for 5 months, then it putus, so i want to put this synthetic gut tht i already have, so wat tension would u reccomend? since im changing from poly to synthetic? is it still 45lbs? or slightly higher? or at 60+lbs oso can?

I would cut out the cheap poly after 2 months, you will be hurting your arm, as the poly will be dead by then, it won't be responsive anymore. But if you budget don't allow, play till the strings burst loh.

If you are going from poly to synthetic, the only thing synthetic offers is comfort ability on your arm, I doubt it will enhance your game as it does not offer the same things as poly's. You probably notice when using poly you don't have to re-adjust your strings, with synthetic gut you will, if your poly needs re-adjusting that means the poly is dead......

If you gonna use synthetic I 'd string it a good 7-10% higher than what you strung for poly.

Cyber blue gear?!
I have heard and used Topspin Cyber Flash (but this isn't blue) and topspin Cyber Blue (which is blue) but there is no gear in the name....or do you mean Pro Supex Blue Gear? (yan had the white version but still the same as blue version?)
Both are good quality strings.

Pro Supex Blue Gear was the best string of its time!
I first used this back in early 2007. It blew my mind!
This is a good string, BUT compared to newer technology its not as great , but this string will make my top 10 polys for sure!

Hahahaha to be honest more expensive poly's die faster!
Why you think Luxilon is the most used poly in the ATP/WTA tour, its because it performs extraordinary well, but for a very limited time, I have heard pro's cut out the strings after 2 hours.Amateurs like us, or average income people cannot afford this luxury.....

The Taiwanese fella who beat Roddick is sponsored by Signum, hence the small 'S' at the throat area.

ohh... no wander sometimes got 's' sometime got 'X'..... rclxub.gif

wat is ur top 10 poly's?

correct me if im wrong: if the strung poly strings tend to move after hitting and need to re-adjust back, means its no more responsive and can considered as 'dead'?

then how bout cross fire...? since cross fire strings moves alot and need alot of re-adjusting... does it mean tht cross fires are less in performance wise?

@prae,

How does the dead poly string feel like? cos i've been using my poly strings for almost 3 months - Tecnifibre redcode and it still feels great for me... I've got a problem to break the string so its really value for money for me as it lasts very long...but alot of my frens also said their strings are dead n all and they will cut it. so i'm pretty curious...

Added on July 6, 2010, 1:39 pmI've tried signum pro poly plasma , topspin cyber blue , pacific poly force, RC , BC.. i feel all this strings are also very nice strings.. cant really tell much difference between them ..

Added on July 6, 2010, 1:39 pmI think i'm comfortable with any co poly strings...

Added on July 6, 2010, 1:40 pmx fire also i love em but the onli annoying thing about them is that they move too much as time goes by...

This one may be you will need to learn by yourself to be honest, I can tell a freshly strung poly from a poly thats gonna die, just by hitting a few balls x-p

I think with experience you will slowly learn how.
The characteristics of dead poly, the ball doesn't dip quite as well as it did before, you notice balls are landing longer ie pass the baseline, strings are starting to move around, etc

If you are happy with your string and it does not affect your game, and you think you are still playing well with the string, stick with it. Change when you notice a change, or when it snaps, whichever is earlier.
