want cheap lens + multipurpose then u have to get a used 18-55mm kit lens lo...i m using it..since i only have 1 lens...lol...

50mm 1.8 that 1 cant zoom...is fixed focal...

i see quite a lot of ppl using d tamron 17-50 f2.8 or something like dat...

prefer around Rm500 for a used lense...
max to go is Rm1000 for a all in one lense...
at least can keep me bz using it without thinking to change other lense...
far zoom is not necessary for my 1st lense...

1100 for f58...f42 cheaper than that lo...f58 sure la more powerful..

both are 2 different lens for different purposes la..how to compare?

The price for F58 is approx RM11xx
The price for F42 is approx RM8xx

Both are Sony flashes but F58 has more features and bigger GN number.

If you still don't know which lens to get then shoot more with your kit lens until you know... best way to save money and ensure that your next lens purchase is the right lens for you.


If you do not want to get the 18-55mm kitlens then I would suggest you get the a 30mm prime lens to go with your A550. It should cover most needs although it's a prime lens. A 50mm may be a little too tight on APS-C bodies for most purposes.

Tamron are third party lens manufacturer and they do have the 17-50 f2.8 lens for A mount. If your budget is max RM1k then this one is out of reach for you unless you wanna try getting second hand.

U may consider Tamron A14 18-200 walk around lens.
brand new is at around RM1k.

if you dont mind aperture wise. try get the sal16-106
cover most of the range. pair nicely with flash to cover non constant aperture. sharp at wide open and nearly as good as cz1680

im sure can get used ones around ur budget

Used unit of that cost around 1.2k,higher than the tamron 1750 f2.8

One of the reason I suggested him the tammy because he said "Event@home". The larger aperture lens should perform better in this? (Assuming he has no external flash currently)
