QUOTE(alucard_my @ Jun 30 2010, 05:20 PM) Higher guide number(GN),meaning at full power, the F58 produce much powerful flash compared to F42. In F42 you blast full power 1/1,in F58 you no need to do so,hence lower tendency to overheat (in my case),and I like the flexibility of F58 as zstan said, try google for F58 product picture you can understand more about the "flexibility" of the F58,code name "Cobra"QUOTE(lwliam @ Jun 30 2010, 05:24 PM) question: what does canon have that sony need to compete with? EDITED: Hmm...none that I could think of,in term of pricing,Sony beats the other giants down with 50% cheaper Added on June 30, 2010, 5:25 pmin terms of flash i mean.. QUOTE(zstan @ Jun 30 2010, 05:22 PM) higher guide number.. zstan: PLSSSSS stop spreading untrue information. they wont be F68. and what canon ones? canon top the 580exII has the same FLASH head internal as F58, hence the GN is 58 too (hence the 580EX). there arent official news about canon with new flash.cobra head...more flexibility... waiting sony come out with f68 to compete with canon one..(if the rumours are true)>< the key diff among these 2, Sony has WL built in, while the 580EX dont. mastering: nikon CLS is better in term of 'control' in Commander mode. the commander mode (cls) is built into the body, but not all body has it. u can directly adjust the group flash power from the body, (sony controls using F58, which only available when mount on A850 and A900). the biggest weakness is, it has weak trigger, sometimes the nikon flash did not fired. miss fire etc. (there are several other minor problems which is not a big concern) but if u uses 'pocket wizards' or china trigger module, the CLS will NOT work. but u get 100% fires. QUOTE(iamKiet @ Jun 30 2010, 06:00 PM) Thanks for the information if the placement angle is good, then should be no problem, but the problem, flash design, the head can only turn so much, so, sometimes, the angle of IR contact cant be 100% there. i also like the SB900 "beep", it also lets u know it DID fired. Then the biggest advantage of Sony flashes is I never missed any fire in wireless mode yeap, but sadly, the alpha commander mode only avail on highest end body |
