hi all, this phone still can't update to v2.1 ? i download se update service/software and it show my software version it's latest but it's v1.6

anyone get to install Need For Speed SHIFT on SE X8?

Probably you gonna wait for a little while more, they will cover more product codes. Anyhow my AP set is able to update to 2.1, if you still have problem to update, probably you need to send to their service centre to check the problem.

Hmmm ... That's a little bit not user friendly if the phone need to be rooted and mod to get the update. Probably you can find your product code and send email to SE for inquiry about the update for your phone. But if your phone already rooted, probably it will be good to do the patch to get the update. 2.1 really has huge difference than 1.6.

Just got my second android X8 after my X10.
Is the 2.1 update already available from SE.

Difference between both phone is I feel X8 is more responsive and the touch screen is better.

i admit camera not very good, easy to get blur with a slight of moving..

try sport mode n it will reduce the blur a bit, but u nid to hav a good lighting for tht..

It's all up to you. I would prefer not to root unless it is needed to install some needed applications, but so far I don't see a need of it, except to get the update. I would advise you to wait for a few more days before making decision to root it, since it's an official update and I believe eventually it will reach to all X8 users.

root is a must if u cant stand the stock 128mb internal memory. after root u can use app2sd ( installs app in sd card), then u can install loads of apps an worry less on lag due to low memory. but so far, i cant root my 2.1.. sien

I don't think 2.1 can use app2sd, more to 2.2. You need to root the 2.1 first.

Not sure if you guys have the same problem as mine in 2.1, but connecting the phone to the PC can trigger the phone to restart. It seems that current solution is to put the phone to silent mode before connect to PC. Big bug I suppose, so we should expect another update from SE soon.

when i connect, i only see 3 options on my phone screen. that data sync thing | install pc companion | charge phone.

no issue so far. i even used my n82 mircoUSB cable sometimes. no prob oso. can charge n transfer file.

Added on December 12, 2010, 5:48 ami tried installing, but NFS shift is optimized for those androids wif bigger screens. can run the game but some major area of the view is cropped

I already download digi internet setting can access internet but cant android market and gmail

In the Gmail app, after running, it always shows "This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care."
Does anyone have a hint ?

Ya, same thing, I have the three options as well. The first and the second have the problem, charging works without problem though. It's good to hear that some of you guys don't have the problem, probably there are some settings/ringtone etc. causing this issue. Someone mentioned format memory card could solve the issue, not sure what's the reason.
