anyone saw the trailer for Skyward Sword? I was quite disappointed actually.. not as epic as Twilight Princess last time.. and the graphics looks ugly.. but the MotionPlus control looks good though

At last a new and truly LOZ game on Wii. The gameplay using motionplus and the graphics are bright and colourful. I love Link's enhanced and new arsenal of weapons.

Yes, the graphic isn't as impressive as TP. But let's see when it's released in full! |

for me i'll prefer game play over graphic...
Didn't see any innovation or anything new in the trailer tho... except for the use of WM+ and for graphic, i would prefer cell-shaded graphic, as I know the limits of Wii |

i also prefer better gameplay and story line over the graphic.
THat's why i still like the old RPG like Zelda, Chrono Triger, Secrete of Mana, etc. |

QUOTE(navilink @ Jun 16 2010, 08:40 AM) anyone saw the trailer for Skyward Sword? I was quite disappointed actually.. not as epic as Twilight Princess last time.. The gameplay is almost finished developing, the graphic part still in polish...no need to b so rush, the game will release next year, bro...and the graphics looks ugly.. but the MotionPlus control looks good though QUOTE [6:40] He said that gameplay on Skyward Sword is almost complete, and the graphics are being polished. Read This:[6:47] Miyamoto said he's a big fan of Impressionist Art, so the new art style reflects that. He said Cezanne was a big influence. QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Nov 17 2011, 01:38 AM) The classic opening song? Like in every Zelda also got that 1? If not mistaken the 1 that I always remember is the one that I borrow from my friend last time play on GB. Not A Link to the Past. That story is to collect the music instrument in 5 dungeon then unlock the last dungeon. That is the only game that I learn that you can hook on the chicken to cross a longkang LOL.This post has been edited by andrewcha: Nov 17 2011, 06:18 AM |

hmm..not really into handhelds. i was tinkin of the ps3 but the games are not really appealing. i grew up playin NES, SNES and N64. so i have this thing for nintendo classics. now im contemplatin shud i buy a 5yr old tech (wii) wen its PLC is almost at d end? lolz.
i bet u kno d feeling of playin last gen games on current gen console eg. playin ps2 games on ps3. the feeling just aint d same. haha. those are some of my reasons affecting my decision. and the wii is not all that cheap. the price didnt really drop. |

Just checked wiki, apparently there are connections between all LoZ, but really they conveniently (and lamely) put together rather than actual connection.
Just say this is prequel, that happened 100 years later, the other is a parallel world blah blah blah. |

according to Nintendo, Skyward Sword takes place at the very beginning of the zelda timeline.
it will be the prequel to all the other games covering the origins of the Master Sword and how Hyrule came about itself ! |

That's why I said conveniently put together, or either that they are really terrible at story telling since I'm certain I'm not the only one who couldn't find those connections other than being told outside the game. it will be the prequel to all the other games covering the origins of the Master Sword and how Hyrule came about itself ! QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Nov 19 2011, 04:58 PM) honestly yeah..they should just call it Final Story / fantasy / adventure coz there is no connection whatsoever to the timeline...if they just said each story is stand alone it would just be easier...coz most often in the story..Link n Zelda is always a new character in somewhat a diff setting/town. Like in Skyward Sword..Zelda is anak pengetua sekolah...in Twilight princess, well she is not. How can she be a separate entity if its the same story? and Link...always started off not as a warrior / knight whatsoever |

looks like this time there's lots of love blossoming between the two
it's about time ninty explore their love story in details btw, slow starting game, as usual for most of zelda series only got me sword after 1/2 hour game play and only after 1 & 1/2 hour into the game, the real fun just started, off to save Zelda again |

hi guys..just wanna say..tis game is awesome..
anyway for those who thinks that there is no timeline just wanna say that Miyamoto san and Aonuma san says there is a thick detail book telling all the timeline. and they said that each game is created with the timeline in mind. so every game is connected. Only Aonuma and Miyamoto (few important Zelda dev) have seen this. Miyamoto and Aonuma had the luxury of choosing which part of the legend that the would like to tell in each game..(there may have been some retcon to adapt to the future games but the idea is still there). Most of the inconsistency may cause by the mistranslation to english version. finally here is one great timeline structure that may lead to a conclusion and confusion cleared. http://zeldatimeline.com/ |

yeah but still...a good story teller can make everybody understand the basic timeline without having to rely on a GUIDE BOOK
I understand that u'd probably need a guide book for strategies etc..but just to understand a timeline? either they are so smart..or probably they just go to a meeting somewhere and try to make sense of it all. |

Miyamoto san tell this. He doesnt freaking care about the story. He just want to create gameplay. What he meant by the story guide book is that, the gameplay element will involve a certain story element which is related to a specific timeline. the guide book was never meant for us (gamers) but for his reference on what element should the next zelda be about.. He doesnt mind us not understanding the story line.. and like i said before, the timeline is for fans who like these elements of where and when the game would took place in the next zelda. check out the link. |

Because if you were to put those games in a storyline, you might as well say they happen in a short span of a year for both Mario and Link to be saving both peach and Zelda respectively. In a way, the story the fits the game it is in. Anyone can come and say that you've been playing the same old stuff for the past 25 and 26 years. And you can still reply to them you're not bored of it at all. |

but when you see Skyward Sword being described like how it is supposed to be "Skyrim Sword" ... dunno what else to say ... Its not supposed to be that way.
But imagine if you combine it both. Or the fact that an Elder Scrolls game has motion control. WOOO!!!! That'd be fun really. |

the problem with Skyrim is that,i felt the game has no weight..i dont know how to define this, but it feels light.
but Zelda game (not SS cause yet to play), you can feel the weight. its like when you move link around, compare to moving your character in skyrim, moving link feels more satisfying ( you could say Zelda is more polish). It feels heavier with link as if the game was imbued with a soul.haha not to say Skyrim sux but, you know... |

There is a reason why the names of the main characters are the same and it seems that rumors saying that LOZ:SS will tell you the reason why.Did you check out the link that i gave? that should gave you a certain idea. there is a trend showing that, each Link will have 2 game. and Each first born girl for the royal family will be named Zelda. Not to mention when zelda games revolve around fate and destiny of 2 ppl. Zelda & Link, (and Gannon in some cases) i think you are really taking the names lightly. there is a reason why the names repeating. on another side note. there are Zelda games that are missing of the main character that always around. for example : Link's awakening was without any zelda, Majora Mask as well. oracle series(iirc) so all in all, Zelda world is the same world since the beggining of the game, the question now, which game came first. its all about the reincarnation of link and zelda (mostly link). and to be honest, actually on 2 names are repeating, which is Link and Zelda, and considering the game name is Zelda, the only name that repeats is Link, also worth mentioning that Link name can be rename to anything else. there you go, no names are repeated from one game to another. it's not a rumour, the reason will become apparent in this game ...
about 2hrs (depending on person i guess) into the game there will be a scene which will surely resonate with all Zelda fans. oh well, i think everyone should play the game 1st then see if their opinion will change *LOL* QUOTE(Gon Freaks @ Nov 23 2011, 12:16 PM) hmm you i think you are thinking it wrongly. Its not a different world like FF. FF plays with a different world in each game. Zelda on the other hand plays in the same world. for example, LOZ:PH was connected to ST like by around 100-200 years. and the connection was one guy who actually saw both link in 2 different generation. |

yes, there are some FF with connection.
FFVII - FFX FFXII- Tactics aliance Heck if you check out on tactics alliance, there are character with the same name as well. Montblanct for example. point is, LOZ was created to be in same world. While FF is not in the same universe. (FFXII and FFVII are the only ones connected out of 20 series of FF) its a different story telling style. |

Only FFXII and the Tactics games are in the same universe but depends on which sequel/prequel and leave it to the fans.
I love the confusion Zelda Timeline. Kinda makes you wanna re-play all the Zelda games again and figure out the Timeline yourself. =) I just finished the 2nd dungeon and off to the the third one. To be honest, this is quite a long game for me. Never touched any side quest yet and currently focusing on the main one. Used to get distracted by the side quest but now I'm more focused on the story since its getting me hooked into the story background between the characters and the world. =) |

the thing i like about playing zelda on the wii is that my daughter will cheer me on every time there's an enemy and i have to slash it to death
my daughter will not care that much if i'm playing games on the PS3, but if it's on the wii and she sees me doing the hand gestures she will sit beside me and cheering me on "ketuk dia daddy..ketuk dia" satisfaction Added on November 24, 2011, 7:17 am X-PLAY REVIEW This post has been edited by PhoenixByte: Nov 24 2011, 07:17 AM |

i've been a zelda fan since 25 years ago (no, i'm not telling you how old i am)...
so.. i was actually quite angry, sad and disappointed when i saw Gamespot giving only 7.5 to SS, granted, i haven't played the game yet but still 7.5? seriously? it's almost like an insult to me. so for those of you who already beat the game or half way through... is 7.5 fair for Skyward Sword? what's your rating? be honest. QUOTE(andrewcha @ Nov 26 2011, 12:51 AM) Really? What score would you give Twilight Princess? that one didn't get a very high rating unlike Skyward Sword which is getting lots of "perfect score" from major review sites and gaming magazines except for GameSpot (Tom McShea LOL!)... Did you guys watch his HotSpot podcast? - http://asia.gamespot.com/the-legend-of-zel...1-21-11-6346425 He kept bashing the game and yet he said it's a really good game, to me 7.5 is just so-so good, not a score for a 'really good' game. |

You can't compare TP and SS lo. TP is the first batch game that comes out right after Wii is out. I play on 2008 and the game out on 2006. So is just new and the motion thingy is not so explored yet but it still use most of it.
Now you have the MotionPlus (which I brought also haven't got the chance to use) which will make the game more sensitive to your movement. Seriously I don't really care about their comments. You can go for overall rating from others as well e.g. 1up, X-play, etc etc. Take example there's a good game I forgot liao that gets only 5.0 on Gamespot. Where I found out that it scores more. They mostly rate FPS more than others la. Oh for me scores for TP is 8.0 and above. This post has been edited by andrewcha: Nov 26 2011, 01:16 AM |

Yeah, TP was originally meant for GameCube, they just ported it to Wii... so at that time I wasn't sure which version to get. And then, life got busy and I forgot about it...
Fast forward to a few years later (today), Skyward Sword has finally been released, I wanted to play the game, but not sure if buying an old console just to play the game is going to worth it, feel a bit weird. I know I shouldn't be looking at the scores, but since I'm a fanboy, I feel excited and proud when I see my favorite game franchise do well. I've been following GameSpot for a decade now and it's always been my favorite review site, that's why I'm feeling a bit upset when they gave it a low score. Ah, well whatever... we'll see, I'll probably get a second hand machine or something, did you guys get the MotionPlus + Zelda SS Bundle set or did you guys buy separately? I wonder how much that's going to cost. |

well the review had some problem. i mean the reviewer, he actually used the controller wrong way. the reason he gave it low cuz he thought the control sux. after a heavy internet rebuttal made against him, he finally admit he was wrong, but he jjust refuse to change the score. he is just trolling zelda fans.
and i have played the game. from my opinion. this is the best zelda, after Majora Mask. u need some time to get use to it(the controls)...at least until second dungeon, and then bam! you know its the GOTY. |

it's related to things at the end of the game ... so i can't really be too specific ... or else it will be spoilers.
anyway, most of you here will be playing it some time soon right ? so let's see if anyone else feels the same when they get to the end of the game btw, it should have been Mattel (and not Marvel) that i was referring to *sorry* QUOTE(SWATwolf @ Nov 28 2011, 03:42 PM) Added on November 28, 2011, 6:27 pmactually, come to think of it ... the final battle may just have been where Monolith-soft contributed ! kinda "out of the world" .. just like all their RPG final boss and storylines QUOTE(lsn @ Nov 28 2011, 04:23 PM) Added on November 28, 2011, 6:34 pmit was actually a subsidiary of Capcom which they acquired and subsequent dissolved in 2007 *sad* name of developer was Flagship Co Ltd. those 2 were my favourite Zelda titles on portable ... although Link's Awakening DX was also top notch ! Am I the only one having like problems like I sorta have to do constant recalibration >< to make slash angle proper
and I think something's wrong with my nunchuck, sometimes it moves to a direction on its own..... btw, do you guys play using HD TV? |

it might be due to the connector between nunchuk and wiimote being "pulled" (mostly due to excitement during intense gameplay sequences *LOL*)
sometimes this is registered like a sudden disconnection/re-connection and when the system attempts to re-calibrate during "re-connection" you probably still moving the control stick and buttons. it's easy to test ... just unplug and re-plug in the connector without moving anything else. if that solves the issue, then that's basically the problem. i have had no problems with the sword controls in this game watsover. only thing which can be considered issue or need calibration once in a while is when aiming bcos it doesn't use the sensor bar. note to everyone BEFORE they hit the link ... it will contain spoilers to the final set of quest towards the end of the game !
anyway, i did the recommended quest to do last (in order to avoid the glitch purportedly) as my 2nd area ... so i can confirm it's not just purely related to the sequence. that is assuming this glitch is true ... anyway, i guess the safest way to "avoid" this if u believe it happens ... is to follow the advice and do that particular quest last. hv to spoil a little bit or else u might not even know which part of the game specifically this relates to
during the quest for the 3 parts of the "Song of the Hero" ... complete both the Water (Faron) and Fire (Eldin) Dragon's sections of the Song of the Hero BEFORE attempting the Thunder Dragon's part of the song. according to Nintendo it's not actually the sequence that is causing the glitch but there will be more spoilers if the cause is described in more detail. so the above recommendation is most generic possible way. QUOTE(prominen @ Dec 21 2011, 09:53 AM) because in previous zelda, ppl complain that the map is too big but empty..anyway... Just wanted to say this quote. "WHEN THE CHOSEN ONES APPEAR...THEY ARE ALWAYS BORN INTO THIS WORLD IN PERFECT BALANCE. THAT IS THE DESTINY OF THE CHOSEN. THAT IS THE FATE DECREED BY YOUR GODS, THE ONLY PATH FOR THOSE WHO BEAR THEIR CRESTS. WHEN THIS WORLD BRINGS FORTH ANOTHER MARKED AS YOU ARE... KNOW TOO THAT IT SHALL ALSO BE VISITED BY ONE OF MY BLOOD. DO NOT THINK THIS ENDS HERE.. THE HISTORY OF LIGHT AND SHADOW WILL BE WRITTEN IN BLOOD!" |

Found it quite heavy playing the attachment and bulky too. as for me, playing with the motion plus adds some much needed weight and mass + feels more like waving a sword rather than just swinging the wiimote plus, kinda enjoy it actually (tip from kyo). well, did miss the gold wiimote pack (and i could be going through a different experience entirely if i had it) but guess i'll have to make do. probably differs from person to person but wiimote + motion plus is ok by me |

unlike previous installment for tp where anywhere you swing is already an attack, this thing seriously reads your swing. macam tak balance on weight between nunchuk and wiimote. still need to get used to the weight. is a good thing also, if i feel tired on my hand, is a sign that is time to stop and rest lol. next week only can continue the adventure. want to finish off this one then continue to windwaker.

well i think, how you swing doesnt really matter, what matter's most is that the angle and the direction on your swing, you dont really have to swing or move your arm alot, infact you only need to move your wrist. so try that, helps alot.
the reason i felt that wii motion plus is slightly better to compare with add on motion plus, is because of the calibration and the connectivity. |

Will continue the journey by weekend since is a long holiday again. For now watch movie first.
My hand, swing like madman for the bamboo test. Cilaka BTW just wanna know when you pass your soup to the sparring hall guy will you get your gratitude star? Update : Can I know why I can't jump to the right side of the skyloft treasure? Everytime I jump to that side it will loading then I'm on the waterfall down there. Nvm finish play already. feels getting abit repetitive when reaching the end. This post has been edited by andrewcha: Feb 29 2012, 09:36 AM |
