Just want to ask.

I need the Streak to be Portrait all the time but some apps such as browser can use Landscape optionally. Can LauncherPro or ADW do this?

Now flash baseband from froyo 1.5.2 xda 1st page than flash 1.5.2 again. Very straight forward. But now can not get gps fixed. I use GSP Status software -- i can see the software detect and fixed (green in color) the satellite about 10 but no coordinate given, meaning there is no gps fixed yet. What is happeng here. For normal gps to get fixed only required at least 4 satellite. Any body here could help or suggest anything? I also can not revert to the old baseband because i do not backup the original baseband and don't know where to get it.

Original baseband : GAUSB1A130900-US
New baseband : GAUSB1A131800-US

dl GPS Test Plus n run it . . . . . if u r coming from Froyo , y do u need to flash baseband ? anyway , if u need a ori rom , there is a link at post #3 http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...band-for-v-319/

Ok, is there a way to lock the screen in Portrait only? I hardly use Landscape unless in a web browser. ATM, if I enable Auto Rotation, it is too sensitive.

As far as I know there is no app that we can use to permanently lock it into either portrait or landscape mode. Using ADW Launcher you can locked it to Portrait mode. In General Behaviour/System Preferences/ - select System Persistent ( there is a warning but I find no issue with it ). With this the sensitivity is reduced. You need to tilt the phone at least by 45 degree or less before it switches to landscape . Switching to landscape only for browser, music player, video player, youtube, games . Most apps I found will remain in portrait mode

I changed the baseband just to find a better baseband - for gsp fixed and radio reception. Some how after a few reboot and keep flashing 1.5.1 and 1.5.2, the gps start be able to get fixed. I thought I want to reset to factory default after this. So now look like my dell is OK but still behind my HTC HD in term of speed to get gps fixed.

So for now I will just stay with new baseband and 1.5.2. Thanks for the pointer.

Are you trying to use NAVIGATION from Google Maps 5 ? Navigation will not work in Msia or Spore as Google has not enabled it for its version 5 in our region. You will forever see " Checking navigation availability". If you want to use Google Navigation you have to use the Google Maps brut version :

However you will not be able to install it ; dunno why in Google Map 5 this is block. However there is an easy way to overcome it:

1. Uninstall original/stock map using titanium backup. (backup your original map first just in case!) - my favorite to uninstall builtin default system apps
2. Install the Google Maps ( download the latest from the market - you need MarketAccess or MarketEnabler to see it)
2. Then Uninstall Google Maps using the market (this is to clear off any data that might still be in the phone)
3. Install Brut 17 apk off the SD Card

There is no issue with the GPS in 1.5.2. Sygic Aura lockup satellites immediate ( not even a second ) while Papago X5 takes under 5 secs. I have been going to KL and Spore late last week and have no issues with it.

I started off using the older basebank when I flash 1.5.2. But 2 days later I updated it to STephen's version in 1.5.2. I was thinking - why not since is an updated version. Do not have any issues , and infact I find the 3G is better
On 1.5.1 my baseband was 31500EU while it is now 31800EU on 1.5.2

some useful information about battery life

One of my customer is having a problem with expired launcher pro plus(I don't even remember installing Plus, might come from ROM).

back to the problem, the launcher keep redirect to the webpage to reactivate it and the phone is not even usable(according to the customer) and he can't go to setting to clear the default. You guys have any idea to resolve this without reformat?

maybe just uninstall the launcher pro plus. and install the free one from the market?

As it is a built-in system app, use titanium backup to remove it

Install AppPlanet , can get a free copy there provided the server is working

Benny888 : How is your reception after baseband update ? Hands got itchy n I updated to 318 . Now , I keep getting unstable network . My HSPA will come n go unlike b4 .

Thanks guys, the customer is okay now. I think he factory reset.

all back to normal after i uninstall it..

Hmm . . . .time for factory reset then . Yup , reception is better , getting signal at places I dont get b4 but my HSPA not being stable is killing me .

For the first time, I encountered Dell logo stuck during reset while upgrading rom to ver 1.5.3. I tested several steps :

1. Direct upgrade from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3
2. Clear data/dalvik - reinstall 1.5.1 , 1.5.2 - success but fail again when i try to upgrade to 1.5.3 from 1.5.2
3. Clear data, dalvik - install directly 1.5.3

All the above fail. I tested the zip file and it extracts successfully. I redownload the zip file and tried again - still fail with above 3 tries

Finally, I change my SD card ( an exact backup copy ) - thios time ONE time only successfully upgraded from 1.5.12 - took me 9 minutes only

Well just to share - sometimes the SD card could be the culprit
