i read somewhere, some guys bought DS from Singapore (that was before Starhub launch) to be used with Malaysia SIM, and they found no Android Market loaded by default?

anyway, patience is virtue. Who knows DS will be still cheaper when it's officially available in Malaysia biggrin.gif just like iPad.

Anyone has any idea if the "Unlocked with Android 2.2" on US Dell site is SIM Free?

Unlock means any simcard can be used.
as far as i know, there is no cdma version release in usa.  So there is no sim free  version yet.

Hi Benny,

I think previously even though there was an "unlocked" version but it's still SIM locked to AT&T, just that it doesn't come with AT&T contract?

by the way, why does SIM free version need CDMA? Sorry, i have much to learn in these.

@toughnut: the unlocked ones are available on Dell US page, should be that one?

1. Follow the link. http://software2tech.com/tag/download-universal-androot/
2. Use barcode scanner to scan the QR Code.
3. Make sure you got connection to download the apps form the link given by the QR Code later.
4. Install and Launch apps.
5. Select you Android version.
6. Tap Root. Be patient as it will take a while.

Do this 1st then i will guide you to the o2 1.6 later..

er...failed at the first hurdle :-S

i scanned the barcode, it downloaded the apk, but i can't install it ("For security, your device is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market"

any idea?

another step, another problem...

"Put the recovery image you downloaded into the same folder as the fastboot.exe."

er...where to find this fastboot.exe? i downloaded from here is it OK?
http://developer.htc.com/adp.html

anyway, the problem is, after i press Shutter + Power, white screen appeared, i tapped on the top right corner for Fast Boot mode, then it shows "Wait for USB FastBoot detect", i waited 10s (as mentioned in the modaco link) then plugged in USB cable, but still nothing happened. Still showing "Wait for USB FastBoot detect".

before all these I have installed DellPCSuite on my WinXP pc, and restarted. Now can't even turn off my Streak sad.gif

Any link that can guide me to download & upgrade to dell official 2.2?

Fix ur Android 1.0 driver. Encounter the same problem previously.

1. Uninstall all the Android drivers
2. Download pdanet from http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php
3. Install then plug in your Streak. Driver will be installed automatically.
4. Proceed to root.
*
you mean uninstall Android drivers on my PC and install this one? and then plug in Streak?

Yes

it's still no root. "Failed. No~~~Fu Go~~~"

What i did:

1. downloaded the PdaNetA245_intl.exe from the above link
2. run installation
3. while installing, prompted me to connect USB to my phone, so i did and clicked OK
4. it says no phone detected, then i saw cancelled installation, saw an error with Dell Streak driver at Device Manager
5. i updated the driver manually
6. run installation again, and it's successful
7. run Universal Androot on my phone again, and selected Root for Superuser for Android 2.0~2.2
8. Failed ! No ~~~ Fu goo ~~~
