QUOTE(jesuck @ Jun 17 2010, 02:01 PM) Hi Guys, I new new & going to buy my 1st DSLR with this build: 1. body EOS 550D 2. Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di-II VC LD Aspherical (IF) 3. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Any comment? no reason to splash RM 2k on that if you are unfamiliar with the range and what you want / need. the 50mm f1.8 - you sure you want that? not everyone needs a 50mm f1.8 - cheap doesn't mean you have to buy. never know your first prime could be an 85mm f1.8 or 28mm f1.8 or whatever else.

QUOTE(mauinsons @ Jun 17 2010, 06:31 PM) they said have to keep in their deposit box. I asked them will they be responsible if anything happens? they said no!! I told them I'm just a visitor and don't have place to store but they don't care.... end up i walk back to my car and keep at the boot....rather to keep in their storage box last year i went to fish leong concert in bukit jalil. using my dslr to take photo, get caught out to keep my dslr in their control centre there. But on the same time i see lots of ppl taking photo using their pns ..

If liddat, get the 18-55mm.You're just starting out, there's isn't any rush to get this and that.Start with the basics, learn from experience, if you're not satisfied by the limitations of lens , then only upgrade lor~ Don't be greedy lar A standard kitlens 18-55 coupled with a 50mm F1.8 is perfect for those starting out, if you don't mind the limited zoom range This post has been edited by -kytz-: Jun 17 2010, 10:55 PM

QUOTE(jesuck @ Jun 17 2010, 10:49 PM) Heard people said 18-200 quality not good... the quality is fine. sometimes people don't put in proper perspective. you can view my flickr so many taken with sigma 18-200, that also lower quality than Canon. look at my stock photo gallery, one of the photo was taken with sigma 18-200!!! if quality so bad, how it got accepted by critics more demanding than all of you combined? but anyway i think you're better off just stick to 18-55 IS. upgrade can be done later.

To make your lens looks bigger? Don't be silly - - Any hood that is larger/longer than the designated hood will cause vignetting.
