You can just try to follow Mr. Gray's method: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=107765266

Download OCBC Sg app and open Statements Saving Account from there. If your phone don't have NFC capabilities, then the app will inform you and you will not be able to open an OCBC SG account using that phone (so need to use someone else's phone).

yup thanks to mr gray's effort. however i did not use his referral code in case either of us are involved in any shady business in sg sweat.gif

One of the good US brokerage which is quite free Vs interactive broker. Have real time data, buying and selling stocks is free. Only downside only have US market access, and only accepts money from DBS. To fund t generally need wire/telegraphic transfer.

Just give them whatever documents they ask. If you give up half way of course cannot open acocunt. That's what happen to me. They suddenly send me email asking for proof of income, all my transaction. Send it them and they keep quiet already. Lol.

Regarding ocbc just deregister the token. Not that hard. Download the token to correct phone. And register again. I don't think they are giving out hardware token anymore. Now everyone use digital token already. Just call them up and ask. Use IDD calls to get cheaper call rates.

I would like to offer a different opinion on this matter.

OCBC Singapore still provides hardware token to interested OCBC Singapore customers, although OCBC Singapore encourages the usage of mobile app with digital token.

I still prefer to use hardware tokens for OCBC Singapore and CIMB Singapore savings accounts.

I entered the one in August, so will receive my first "top-up" bonus on the 20th of September.

Yes, depending on whether you previously have an account with CIMB SG, the terms and conditions will be slightly different. Existing customer will earn bonus interests on their incremental balance (end-day-balance on that day against that of 31 Aug '23) whereas new customers will earn bonus interests on their entire balance.

https://www.cimb.com.sg/en/personal/promoti...ep22-promo.html

Make sure your balance is at least 1k SGD for saving account (e.g. Fastsaver) and 5k SGD for current account (e.g. Starsaver) for the day(s) you wish to earn interest, otherwise you won't even qualify for the base interest (1.5% p.a.).

CIMB SG users who participated in the 3.50% p.a. "floating deposit" promo may now check that their bonus interests are credited into their accounts.

Ok, there's something fishy about CIMB's Promo. For those mathematically-inclined, using my own cashflows...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Let's ask ACCA accountant to verify my computation. ikanbilis can help check? biggrin.gif

Excel file attached below:

Attached File  CIMB_SG_Fishy_Marketing_Tactic.zip ( 7.47k ) Number of downloads: 3

The problem is CIMB SG delays the bonus interest crediting by nearly 1 month (it's only paid on the 20th of the following month) and between end of 1 month and the 20th of next month, your "bonus" interest just earns nothing, which drags down the IRR of the overall floating deposit. And yet you can't withdraw the bonus interest exactly at the end of the prevailing month. So the effective IRR is never as high as what CIMB quotes, i.e. it's never really 3.5% p.a., but almost half of it.

Feel free to recheck my calculation guys. I may make mistake. tongue.gif

Like 1mdb lo. Before 1mdb easy for us Malaysian to open account. After that not easy. Before 1mdb you walk into any branch can open account.

Later if got scandal from Thailand or Indonesia, then tighten against thai or Indonesia.
