I have managed to open Cimb FastSaver account thanks to the information provided by the sifus here. Applied 2 days ago and transferred SGD1000 from my Malaysian Cimb account once I received my FastSaver account number. Also applied to link up my FastSaver account to my Malaysian accounts on CimbClicks. Yesterday received a call from Cimb Singapore mainly for verification purposes. Today received approval to link my accounts in CimbClicks and I transferred SGD1 from my Malaysian Cimb account to my FastSaver account as instructed by the Singapore Cimb officer (I think maybe to prove that I have a Cimb account here in Malaysia)

I basically followed the steps given by @mrbean12345. I think the important thing is to have an existing account with CIMB and access to CIMB Clicks. It makes the process faster as everything can be settled online

Wanna check with you all. What's the difference between bring back SGD to Malaysia via Maybank SG or CIMB SG? Say I'm planning to bring back 10,000 SGD? I understand CIMB is better. In what sense? The fees or exchange rates?

Is there anyway to check what are the rates for CIMB or Maybank at a particular time? Similar to how we can check the rates Instarem vs Transferwise. I have active Maybank Msia account, but my CIMB has been dormant for a few years. Just wanted to see whether it makes sense to revive the CIMB account. Btw can we transfer using Instarem or Transferwise back to Malaysia from Singapore? Might save on the exchange rate.

They will list down the final amount received. Yes can use TransferWise but you cannot use instarem as you need to have instarem sg account (which as Malaysian cannot open unless you have sg working pass, study pass) Transferwise and CIMB almost same rates.

Thanks for the explanation. Didn't think CIMB can provide similar rates as transferwise. Will drop by CIMB and reactivate my old account. I understand there's no min amount to maintain in CIMB without incurring monthly charges, right? I plan to transfer into CIMB SG to activate the account and then transfer out to TDameritrade SG.

If you transfer from CIMB MY it's expensive. Use instarem, TransferWise. Cheap rates only for CIMB SG -> CIMB MY This post has been edited by Ramjade: Jul 23 2020, 11:02 AM

You could not use it for the 1st transfer right? 1st transfer must be SGD 1000 from an account which has our name. So in this case maybe cimb malaysia account or other bank accounts with our name. TQ

Last time there was no linking up with CIMB MY to activate the account.

Hi, can I transfer money from CIMB SG account to MY account using CIMB clicks MY? If not, do you you all use the SG cimb clicks platform?
Don’t seem to have the option to choose SG account as the source of funds. I’ve linked my accounts.
