Hi guys..
Many are interested to open trading account in singapore and i am one of them..I made few call to DBS bank in singapore before making a trip to there..It is quite simple actually and I shouldn't take too long before making a trip to see the officers.

I took a bus from Perak and the last destination in Singapore is at beach road. From beach road I took a taxi to DBS bank and the charge was only sd 10.00 about rm 30.00.

Unfortunately I did not bring my income tax form so I couldn't open saving and trading acc with DBS bank that day..the officers told me everything will subject to management approval. It is not confirm the accounts can be opened unless we work there and reside in Singapore.

I went again to singapore this week ..this time i drove there and
the cost much higher compare to taking a bus there..a lot of charges and parking lots is very limited there..this time i went to maybank kim eng at suntec city to open prefunded account. The officer was very helpful and I managed to settle everything within 20 minutes..they will courier me the documents in 3 weeks time.

No charges was imposed to me to open prefunded account with maybank kim eng..it was a worth trip for me and I enjoy the city environment of singapore.i advise to those who want to open trading account in singapore just go there by bus.it is cheap where if from kl to singapore two ways it is just about rm120 .

I will update once get response from maybank kim eng.

Nice write up. Hope this would be helpful for all who desire to open an account at Singapore. But to open an account with Maybank Sg, you could actually open it through some Maybank branches over here. Check out the previous pages for this.

Bro plz share required document for opening account.

Would be great if can settle in one trip.

Appreciate if can share any additional information that need to know. E.g. Condition for approval.

Also I heard the account must have minimum balance right?

Sure.
Priority
- Be priority with Standard chartered/UOB/OCBC/Maybank/ Cimb.
- Request RM to help you open over there.
- Most likely also need to be priority overthere.

Non priority
- Only one able is maybank isavvy application. Obviously, you need to be holding a maybank MY account or else you cannot do this.
QUOTE
Basically is you go download Maybank iSavvy pdf form online (look for the latest date). Fill it up, go to the selected Maybank branches which process application for iSavvy (is listed on the form), buy a bank draft (pay to yourself in SGD, min SGD500) from Maybank Malaysia, go to the counter which do iSavvy application, submit all required documents, now you seat back and contact Maybank SG after 3 weeks to esquire the status of application. If all goes well, you will receive your welcoming package in the mail box by 4th-5th week.

Cimb is the easiest as once you got any SG bank account, you can just open it by doing a transfer from your SG bank account and it will be open. So IMHO, don't waste your cimb priority for this.No need to go down at all.

No no. You don't apply from SG branch/Maybank SG website. If apply from SG side, sure cannot. doh.gif Go download the maybank isavvy form google. Google this "maybank isavvy malaysia pdf" Choose the latest date (bottom right corner). Fill up the form, go to the branch you want (there are few branches listed on the back of the form), submit your completed form with min SGD500 bank draft + photocopy IC to the officer in charge +postage fees.

Last week I went to Singapore to try to open a bank account there.

I am a Privilege Banking customer in UOB Bank Malaysia. Since I wanted to open a UOB bank account in Singapore, I requested for a reference letter from my UOB branch and they provided it to me, though they said that it's no guarantee that the UOB branch in Singapore will open an account for me as it's getting more strict in Singapore.

I went to the UOB branch in Orchard Road and the lady staff (for account opening) that initially attended to me asked me what is the purpose that I would like to open an account. I said that it's for investment purpose. She said that it's getting more strict in Singapore for foreigners to open a bank account. Then she said that she will refer me to another colleague who is in the investment department (at that point of time, a thought came to my mind that I shouldn't have said that the bank account is for investment purpose).

This other colleague of hers was also another lady. She tried to engage in some small talk and ask about my background. Then she tried to sell me on some kind of unit trust savings plan, that goes together with a savings account. The bad thing about this unit trust savings plan is that you have to put in a monthly sum for five years. You can only withdraw a partial sum before the end of the five years, so this means you will lose money if you withdraw before the end of the five years. And the minimum amount that the branch will apparently accept from a foreigner is S$1000 per month! Obviously I didn't agree with the unit trust savings plan and she wasted 40 minutes of my time. Before I left, I told her that I was disappointed.

Anyway, I haven't given up on opening a bank account in Singapore yet. I'll try again with two other UOB branches since I understand that not all branches are the same and some could possibly be more lenient than others.

As a note, please do not go and open an account with UOB branch in Orchard Road. Try other branches.

Thank you so much for the updates, Kenviro,... your experiences here and very helpful to many Malaysians who are keen to open bank accounts there. Try a few more branches and update here.

If they ALL don't work out, we can try other methods which follow MAS rules too.

Call them up and ask (Maybank SG). They won't approve your application if you don't submit the CRS form.

+6565335229 - this is normal customer service not the priority line.

Normal customer verification. Tell them you are enquiring about account application status. Let them know you make an application from Maybank (insert branch name).

Just do a transfer between each account to prevent it from being dormant. Transfer is free of charge. Why are you quoting a 2010 post shakehead.gif

If you guys are thinking of investing in SG directly thru CDP, pls take note that Maybank SG is NOT one of the bank acct requirements to open a CDP Acct..

Hence, open custodian accounts instead, you can use your Maybank SG acct to transfer funds into your cash account with your custodian broker co...

Just a suggestion here : anybody tried opening an acct with ICICI Bank in SG ?

Since I am going to Singapore again only some time next year, I won't be able to try two other branches until then.

I think that you should try one of the UOB branches that is outside the city, like in Toa Payoh or Ang Mo Kio. That's because most of the UOB branches in the city see numerous bank account applications by Malaysians, as least from what I understand from that lady banker in the Orchard branch. Going to a UOB branch that doesn't see that many applications by Malaysians or foreigners could help.
