drbone if you want to have priority banking with SG banks, make sure you have SGD200k. thumbup.gif
Of course DBS needs SGD350k

What are the perks ? Or how can one reap the highest benefits from putting in SGD 200k?

I don't know. Not a priority customer and never want it (even if I am qualified) biggrin.gif
I think you get access to more tools for analysis, free travel insurance (maybank SG), RM, a separate platform for tracking everything (DBS), cheaper multicurrency notes transaction (DBS), no brokerage fees (SCB - this is really good as you are able trade like crazy and don't pay anything. You only need to pay the clearing fees, stamp fees which are practically negligible)

Email the banks to find our the perks then share it here. biggrin.gif

Was approached by my OCBC rm to open an account in Singapore without having to go there , but she spoke mostly about unit trust , insurance investments . Didn't sound interesting.

In what ways can a Malaysian maximize returns by opening a Singapore account? Basically it's UT, reits correct ? FD is totally out of the topic since the returns are rather miniscule.

Thanks for all the info given here. I managed to go to Maybank Subang Jaya last week to apply for the iSavvy Savings Account there.

It seemed that the form in the maybank2u website is old form. You can get a copy of the new form from the bank officer. Please ensure that the form you have is May 2015 form.....not the Sep 2011 form that is listed in their website. You can see the date on the bottom right hand corner of the form.

Was it a very tedious process?

No, it's a simple process. It was tedious in my case coz the info counter personnel & officer insisted that I have to print the form online myself but they had no idea that the form online is outdated. Here are tips for you......

1) Call the bank branch that you want to go to & find out who is the officer in charge of S$ iSavvy Savings Account.

2) Bring along your income tax number. (Requirement due to FATCA)

3) Ask to see the officer at the info counter. For MBB Subang Jaya, you don't have to take queue number.
(Don't give any more details to info counter. They may give you wrong info...from my experience  mad.gif )

4) Get the form from the officer. If officer ask you to print online, you tell him that the form available online in MBB M'sia website is outdated. If he ask you to print from MBB S'pore website, tell him that your friend has called MBB S'pore & they inform must get the form from MBB M'sia.

5) Give the IC to the officer. He will photocopy your IC & chop on the photocopied IC.

6) Fill up the form with full particulars.
(Important : ensure your residential address is the same as per your IC address or your application may get rejected)

Call them up and ask (Maybank SG). They won't approve your application if you don't submit the CRS form.

To be able to keep sgd in a bank account? And invest in Singapore?

I mean other than that. What other benefits other than these 2?

There are more limitations with the Maybank Isavvy account when compared to UOB or standard chartered.

primarily to access a more well diverse and choices in the singapore market. they offer alot more choices covering asia and europe + america. moreover, the opportunity to keep/earn in SGD is naturally a hedge against MYR. moreover, a better regulated financial system and authority.

Is there any page expanding on this topic? Others actively discussing this?
