Yes! Honda wait is a killer! Through PAKAR REP MM2H you wait 4 months for Honda to sit on your order and then submit MOF onky takes a week and then god knows what you will still be waiting for because at the end of the day you get your car after 6 bloody months.

If you order Volvo or Mazda or nissan GURANTEED 1 month delivery

BMW , 1 , 3, 5 series all CKD. (hints, 528i tax free is RM299k)
Mercd C, E ,S (300,350) are CKD. (C200 205K tax free)

Honday and Nissan carry most CKD model. average 3 months waiting, in fact government is really fast ( around 1 week), just the car plant company pending to get your tax free chassis number and submit to MOF for exemption. tax free car is "special" treatment before release to customer, because it not paying tax, the car need to be allocate for exemption.

why, i know this, coz i driving Pakar program tax free Madza 3 now. smile.gif

Peugeot (308T, 3008, 408): not price advantage coz the car already cheap in price, same as KIA Forte as well.

Nissan Teanna 2.5, Volvo, VW, Accord, Camry (yes, the ugly model).

better: BMW, Mecr, Land Rover is not mistaken also smile.gif

I wish I have the ability to get a BMW or even merc but its way out of my league. The maintenance cost is enough to make my pocket burn.

Guess only Japanese car then sad.gif

VW Passat maintenance would not be that far off from accord or camry....plus more fuel efficient...but of course a lot of people criticise the looks...camry is plain ugly...accord is alrite...but new model would be coming...is it worth it?

I don't mind Passat coz I am trying to stay low profile but my parents prefer Japanese cars for the convenience of service and maintenance. (Yes I am buying a car for my parents)

For those looking for SUV or crossover, can consider the recently CKDed Subaru XV. the price is about 40k lower than the retail price.

That's not bad at all then the price! As long as you don't mind the size. Not big at all I went to see at the showroom but was disappointed by the boot space... but u get a higher sitting position and 4 wheel drive..

Chizzu, I dont think u should delay this any longer because you know going through this scheme is already a long winded affair. Worse if you're opting for the jap cars that could drag you a further 6-7 months (happening to me with honda right now). For all you know the 2 years may already be up!

I don't mind waiting as my wallet is not ready for this yet. Haha. Slowly looking around and get the best deal.

Will post more info for the deals I found here hopefully will be helpful for others albeit the info might be a bit outdated.

Coming from Tan Chong, similar to Nissan, the wait list should not be more than 2.5 months, provided you have all proper documents ready.

You are right. When I started looking out, I had trouble getting the price and delivery lead time. Ended up, have to rely on Lowyat forum. Even calling the car dealership is a hit and miss situation. That being said, the price do fluctuate up and down depending on the time you intend to purchase due to price fluctuation/promotions.

Maybe we should have a link up with contribution from forum members and REP applicants to provide some much needed input for ease of surveying.

Let me see what I can come up with and hopefully community contribution will add more value.
