I don't think Peugeot 407 and Nissan Sylphy is a full ckd. could you confirm that? Anyone could confirm this?

the most expensive CKD car you can get here is the S500, just a few ringgit short of 1million IIRC

next up is the 3series if not mistaken

Forte is an open secret. It is 100% CBU and declared as CKD upon reaching MY. All they did was to take off the rims prior to loading in Korea.

Good for consumers as they can enjoy CBU cars at CKD prices. However, local players such as Proton and Perodua will make lots of noise.

guys... i do understand that the pug and forte are CKD and that perception to public is that there is no such thing as full ckd, but when you go to those guys to buy tax exempt cars, truth to be told, they will tell you that coz these are not full ckd cars, thus they can't conform to the MM2H (malaysia my second home) or the Returning Expert Program.

Well... have a friend who has tried to buy a pug in that manner but failed...

anyway thanks for the input. do appreciate it...

CBU = Completely Built Up (means cars are imported as a whole)
CKD = Completely Knocked Down (means cars are imported by parts and assembled locally)
CIF = Cost, Insurance and Freight (when you need to import anything, this is your so call total cost before taxes and usually this is the amount to be taxed)

just buy your car at your current country. You can even apply to buy from other country in case you are in a LHD country. You are qualified for the program? don't waste it. Get 2 big cars back. But remember you cant sell it within 2 years (even you sell it, buyer need to PAY back the tax) so dont think about profit in this program.

The AP is issued when you apply for this program. Most important for you is actually DONT BACK yet. Once you are back. you are ineligible for it. Can i know what qualification you are using to apply for that program?

i am not the ap holder. just know someone who is. anyway she is already back, so there is no point for cbu cars coz she wouldn't be able to get it. only choice left is the ckd. she has already applied and gotten the approval before she was back.
