Anyone here is a fan of Maurice Lacroix?
I own the Pontos Rectangulaire Chronographe and i really like it... beautiful watch... retails for rm11800 after discount i think around 8k... I'm a fan of rubber strap watches. Previously owned a Tag Heuer Carrera but sold it coz too many fakes around...
Now I like the Baume & Mercier Riviera XXL Chrono in black PVD and Gold... another rubber strapped watch that catches my interest.
My dream watch will be a Zenith El Primero Chrono but i might only afford it in another 30 years or so... :haha:

After reading the guidelines/advises, now I see no reason to buy expensive watches/timepiece anymore. My beat-up nokia (old model) can tell time as accurate as the RM 70K patek.

it depends on individual actually. some men prefer the luxurious feeling of wearing expensive watches over many thing else.

a fine timepiece doesn't just tell the time, it is an accessory and a symbol of fine tastes that the individual has...

same goes to cars, a 22yrs old Nissan Sunny can still get you from point A to point B as a RR Phantom...

same goes to food, a bowl of wantan mee and soup dumpling can still satisfy your hunger as an 8 course meal in a 6-star hotel restaurant...

but, would you rather be seen arriving at your destination in a RR Phantom or a Nissan Sunny?

To the local mamak stall? THe Nissan.. trust me.. you wouldnt enjoy the stares otherwise...

Anyway this is the age old "Need vs Want" argument, lets not get into it...

there's never really a need when it comes to anything (except basic necessities)...it's all about wants...it's how much "wants" you can afford.

you don't need to go to mamak, neither does one need a car.

i dont think so. maybe you can just provide your order number instead. for your strap.

I checked with my bank and the bank said the order went through. Still no confirmation or tracking order from CW

I always view a fine timepiece as a reflection of my current standing career wise.
You won't see a CEO wearing a casio or swatch do you?
Of course there are also overkill when a kopitiam boss or mamak boss sports a Rolex.
I am honestly not a big fan of Rolex. I view them as a security item that the owner can let go when in financial difficulty. Watches that i love and feel comfortable wearing is the utmost importance.
I have a Hamilton Navy Frogman automatic chronograph powered by a "modified" valjoux 7750, costs me 3k. My maurice lacroix is also powered by such a "modified" valjoux 7750. Ppl dun understand why 2 watches using the same movement can be different in cost.
There's more premium brands out there using a "modified" valjoux 7750 that cost in the noth of 50k... go figure.
I got a lot of slack frm watch afficionados telling me to keep the 8k+ i spent for my maurice lacroix and get one with an in house caliber. More value they say.
But this is just my opinion, get the watch that you feel connected with in terms of design and feel. No use buying a watch sporting an in house movement with multiple complications but it's sitting nicely on a tabletop watch winder. Get my point?
Can read this if you guys a free.... i find it interesting.

basically just buy what you like. and yeah for your info there are many high ranking proffesionals who do wear cheap watches. there are even rich business people who wear replica watches. Some poeple choose to spend on cars, some spend on watches, some spend on other stuff. In short, just get whatever that makes you happy.

U can afford a Zenith EP on grey its only ~7.5K, U pay so much for pontos already.

don't buy, no one making u to buy.
it like clothes or shoes, a cheapo would work why get a bally? nike? Lacoste etc.
it also goes with food, don't have to spend the extra on shark fin, bird nest, abalone, caviar, truffle since regular stuff would do too.
U must be the type that do without with all these

alot of Kopitian Boss in Sg wears a Rolex. even Hawker there wears Rolex.

nice link too bad on one comment on it, maybe no one gives a hoot.

In fact no use buying anything if U are not going to use it. why is watch single out? we could go to the shoes/clothes/car thread and do the same thing! better yet those collect action feature, they don't play with it. Value may not go up? why collected?
