Hi Everyone

A Happy New Year to all FS enthusiast.

Simei (High altitude) FS Championship is back. Vying for the championship belt/crown are Bros Ricky, Krauser and myself. It was an early morning 0730 fight.

I entered the championship with a huge dose of enthusiasm. I have in my team a few good sized FS either big SL or small ML. My bigger sized ones were Solomon Kane, Overlord, Heartthrob and Sonic Boom. . I also have a One Arm ML as well as Bodyguard.. i also have a good Chopstopper.

Bodyguard was caught on 271211 at Nirvana during lunch. He proved to be an ice cream Fs, not even clearing tiny spar and decided to rest him with a female companion. Yesterday evening, caught Sonic Boom from Mandai. He was found wandering in the small leaves and escaped me twice. Took about half an hour to catch him. Before we started, Bro Krauser and myself compared sizes, I mean FS sizes. Yes, Bro Krauser has a new addition called Fubar with long thick arms and he has Masaro too. We all knew our competitor Bro Ricky's arsenal of FS which are by now household names, Musso, Cyclone, Kuantan, Lol etc.....

All of us came with our strongest team. The fights started with my One Arm ML against Bro Krauser's...surprise surprise Flowerpot. "Flowerpot"is a name favoured by Bro Krauser and he has successfully named quite a few of his FS with that often used name.

One Arm ML gave a good account of himself and the better FS won. Next was my Sonic Boom. Oh yes, was stung by an unknown insect when catching Sonic Boom and my right hand still bear the bite mark. Anyway, was shocked to see Bro Ricky's Guniness Stout size which was bigger than Sonic Boom which was likely my biggest FS.

Where the hell does he get so many big FS?????

Sorry for my belated welcome to u,bro Utility 47.

Like our exspiderking has said before,playing Fs doesn't restricted in any age's group. as for myself I'm still >40 yrs young. U & me still not the oldest in tis our circle,some of bros here even has reached 50. Just treat it like normal healthy hobby & furthermore can let ur body do some exercise while hunting.that's the reason why all of us here looks younger than our age & some said will makes us looks more handsome too..

Don't think my LOL holding the current champ's title bcos it not really large sized male,my current largest in hand is King Kong,a very "big gift" (nearly 8mm) from bro jason when last week visit him in KL. However King Kong still not ready for battle so dint get much exposer of it.

The spider namely Ghost caught by bro Viper actually is different species fr the the type that we r playing now,we won't use our bigger king to fight with bcos might get eaten by him..look at the video posted by bro Viper,it just stare once at my spar & mine ran off like seeing a ghost... but sometimes we did fought with other closer/bigger species that's bcos we has proven that other species won't really makan our T Bha.

Really hope u can join us for hunting & spar in near future.

First, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Thanks to Randy for posting all the fights. The one between Changi and Heartthrob is very exciting indeed. Salomon Kane fought very well against LOL.

To Ricky: Thanks for the information about Ghost. This is what I thought too. It looks like a hybrid between the long thin green spider and our normal FS. Have LOL, Changi and Kunatan fought one another? Looking forward to the performance of King Kong. Any picture to show?

The Ghost is getting old i think, not moving too actively. As Bro Ricky said, fighting different species of spiders rarely will yield much show, because different species tend to avoid each other rather than engage in a fight. Either that or one will get eaten...haha!

Anyway hope you enjoy yourself in this forum and if possible relive your childhood passion and join in the fun!
Actually old man, young man or small boy doesn't matter... just a hobby or pastime. Just like surfing internet, going for a swim, reading a book, playing cards(which some of us will do coming this CNY), playing with a dog, watching TV or any other pastime. As long as you enjoy yourself and it is not a crime, why not?
Well really up to you but i'm sure our sg veterans(got others not seen in this forum too) won't mind accompany you on a hunt and showing you some of their favourite spots. Or just go meet them and be spectator for their almost weekly grand slams. Sure enjoy!

To viper88: Thanks for the info about the T-sub that Ricky caught. To me, the T-sub species is actually the same as our normal FS, except that they are larger. Indeed, I think Ura did mention that T-sub is the brother of T-bha.

When I was younger, my friend did have one such big-sized spider. Do not know whether it is a T-sub. It was “proud” and “arrogant”. :-) When other spiders are in fighting position, it simply gave a glance. Most of the times, the other spiders just run away. Only the large chopsters are willing to give it a fight. But because of its larger size, it simply pushes the chopsters away instead of gripping.

Actually I have seen such large sized FS in Brunei jungles during my army days. SG guys who have been to Brunei jungles will know what a jungle is and the yam/CB leaves are much bigger. Not sure whether that’s why the spiders are larger too.
Are the T-subs of Ura imported? Wow, they must be quite expensive then. It is also interesting to see that BTL is setting up a FS farm. Hope that he succeeds.

To mindstorm. I must really thank you for reviving my childhood and many others’ childhood hobbies. It is from one of your youtube videos that I was linked to here.

BigHead is a prized spider. May I know whether it is the “longest-living” spider in captivity? 4 months?

The mangrove spiders are also very fierce. Saw that they will grip each other’s arms before fighting. Never seen one before. What is their size?

To bro Mindstorm: I feel Ghost still in adult stage because can jump very far, climb up its own web and walk upside down/ side with its leg stick well.
This type of spider normally found on higher branches or leaves .. it dark brown colour is a good camouflage to hide from its enemy and hunt for its prey.
Last time the Malay kids that play with this spider will climb up trees to catch this Spider besi.. they told me Spider besi is the strongest among all the other spider like Spider Pandan and Spider Bandar. Reason? See Spider Besi teeth.... just only one strong bite can kill its opponent fast!
They will catch those spiders and put in see tru tupperware for death fight.

Hi viper88, sorry for the confusion and thks for the clarification. I notice that you have been recording the FS’s size. Is the record still held by spider Fearless?

Actually i dun keep track on all fs size.. As i recall.. Spawn and Fearless size close to 8mm.

Hi Everyone

Welcome to Year 2012.

The first FS message that greeted me on 010112 was from Bro Ricky. It states:-

"Heading to jurong take my breakfast. Let me know if u hunt today ".

It was 0700am and with count party and all, I slept about 0200am plus. It took me 5 seconds to decide to hunt with Bro Ricky, with hangover and all and we met at Nirvana. 2012 Fs luck was with Bro Ricky as he calmly showed me his newly caught which I think is now called Rotweller. Suffice to say it is far from small.

Today, Bro Ricky was gracious to show us his secret spot where he caught Changi. This spot involve parking our cars along the side of the main road and I decided to park at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and cycle to meet Bros Ricky, BTL and Seng instead. While I cycled (small BMX), I checked out the surrounding plants and there were many many FS all along the way. It took me about 20 minutes to reach the spot and hunted for 10 minutes and cycled back. As usual had errands as well as some food stuff in the car and hence my usual rush back. My notable acquisition was this unusual male Fs with a big belly and short arms called "She-male".



Then the time has arrived, the first mass FS fight of 2012. All of us probably yearn for FS glory and 2012 is different as many of us have ML as well as L sized FS. The end of the year weather blessed us with FS abundance and the following challengers came with their best/better Fs, namely Bros:-

(1) Rudy:- Smokin Ace is a big ML FS or maybe even entry level L size. Crixus is another big tuff fellow and Red Devil is his secret weapon (undefeated) which defeated T Bha after T Bha.

(2) Ura:- Bro Ura would often come with his very best to blast away all competitors. Think Enam and Cloud. This time he came with one solo entry, Gold Hair which is possibly one of the biggest FS currently.

(3) BTL:- Red, undefeated and that should explain everyting.

(4) Faris has The Boss a very good fighter.

(5) Ricky:- King Kong is possibly the other biggest FS besides Gold Hair. Which is bigger? Not sure and is subjective and bigger than any of mine. Guiness Stout also L size. Reigning champion Lol and there is also Rotweller.

(6) Seng:- His latest acquisition is Killer. A good size FS which will beat many FS to come as shown later.

(7) Me:- Solomon Kane is about 1 month old and starting to fight well. Sonic Boom is less than one week old and good size. Heartthrob is dying to win his first fight since gaining confidence.

The fight started about 1410 pm. Bros Ricky, Seng and BTL just finished their Changi hunt and hungry but Fs rules would disqualify them if they were late, so no choice but to fight on.

Before we fight, I was reminded that 2011 was Bro Ricky's FS year with Denso II. Denso II was a very strong willed FS and nobody seem to be able to over come him no matter how hard we try. This video speaks for itself:-

Anyway, this is a new year altogether, a fresh start and all of us, alpha male have a point to prove and wants a taste of glory at being champion. We do not intend to sit back and let Bro Ricky dominate.

Hyperion size is abt 7.5-8.0mm.


I didnt measure Archilles on grid paper size bfr.
Archilles is smaller abit than BigHead. Bighead size on paper grid abt 7.5mm.

Really "pui fuk" respect u guys at SG show so much eagerness to hunt FS early morning on the 1st day of new yr.
So many FS kakis, FS and so many FS fights in one day.

Really exciting to see Red Devil vs Rotweller. Rotweller eventhough slightly smaller and shorter arm length but still able to give good fight and win over Red Devil.
Red Devil have nice unique fighting stance and charging towards Rotweller to fight.
Can see Red Devil standing taller, faster arm pushing and fought back when get push back/chop lightly 3x bfr retreat.
Good fight between these 2 different Thiania species

King Kong fights also impressive. Its fighting confident and will improves.
Managed to win a small size and a large size FS

Was reading this thread very now and then. Things at Malaysia side gets interesting when Jason comes on board. My humble opinion is that "armless" chopster should have been released.

Wow wow wow!

First, Bro Randy, i must say this format of writing is really superb, just like sports programs...u first introduced all fs bros and their team of gladitors with some comments.
This makes it very clear to the reader which fs belongs to which bro, how many fs each bro is bringing to the stage, and after knowing a little bit of the background of the fs, makes the reader want to find out which fs and which bro will emerge as champ.
Also the matches built up is very exciting too.
Of course this meet up is also rather unique in that so many bros show up with so many known powerhouse fses and also the presence 2 foreign talents - HK tbha and Red Devil.
I watched every match!

Kudos to bro Ricky for practically sweeping the house clean with his LOL, Rotweller, King Kong and Fatso.
Can see Fatso is a very healthy and steady chopster. However Kuantuan seemed to have lost his fire.
Also Cyclone is a fierce fighter, brutal... (if i'm not mistaken which is which fs - against Faris The Boss)
Bro Ricky is starting the new year with a high bar. The man to beat.

I am impressed with Seng's Killer, very good and aggresive fighter. Just that Rotweller is just as good and have strong defense and the better fs won.
In the same breath I have to say that the staying power of the large fses - Overlord, Guiness Stout and Changi was a tad disappointing.
It shows a fs will to win is more important than size.
Ura's Gold Hair, HK's tbha representative didn't put up much of a show too this time. Maybe passed his prime? But this is just one individual, and I'm sure from the HK Tbha team there is more to come...

Thanks for the dedication of Red Devil's fight. Very interesting as well as exciting! This rarer species shows just as much potential as our common T.bha in putting up a good show in the fighting ring. Best of all, its fighting style, although very slightly different, integrates well with our common Tbha. If only there is more of them. Looks like the onus is on Rudy to champion this species. Who knows how big is the biggest Red Devil species. And we have yet to see Red Devil vs Red Devil.

All in all, a great meetup, great and interesting matches, a great writeup and excellent clips!

The longest i had was i think almost 5 months(after last moult) before it expired.
Here he is at around 4 months 1 week. (the one armed fs)

Although no longer able to fight well but still look quite active and healthy.

I write "after last moult" to mean that does not include the stage from baby sling to adulthood. That would add another 3 months or so.
I think Bro Ura has a documented record in longest-living spider in captivity - his Tsub. Possible he can enlighten u on his past Tbha record in captivity too.

Their size is about the same as fs but much tougher. The females will practically eat any other same size or even bigger jumping spider that crosses her path.
