there was some connection issues due to another earthquake so that affected the patching a lot...
actually u dun have to restart the game for each patch...
i patched up from a clean install up to patch 10 at 1 go (no doubt it'll install 1 by 1)...
and the patching is cached so u dun really have to patch all 1 shot...

I probably give that a go on my previous gaming PC.

Should be able to play it at 1280x1024 using 8800gt and AMDx2 4400.

For these who played WoW before, is it using the same Blizzard Downloader tool for getting patches and co?

I never managed to get a "green" connection with that thing, even when able to run other torrent stuff perfectly fine on the side.

Sucks if they use this for the full game, that thing is good for US/EU but pretty crap for the rest of us  blink.gif

yes its the same blizz torrenting tongue.gif

Meh, okey, I tried from few places around Bandar Utama though, never really managed to get it work fine (it usually went back to the HTTP Download which takes forever).
I ended up downloading the patches from external websites if it was more than few tens of Mbs.
I did forward ports and all too.

See how it goes on retail then

port, forward. torrent 101.

Did that, didnt help at all.

Like I said, I could run utorrent or any other stuff fine along, but that damn Blizzard thing never went very fast.
I could see connections starting in the detailed view but they closed in few seconds each time.

Was pretty weird, just hope will be better for SC2 (I moved since then, might help)

rm250 for standard edition, fcuk that. i'm gonna just paypal some friend in the US and get me the cd-key.

anyone know if the retail game will be downloadable from blizzard? or if our beta can be patched to retail version? oh well could always torrent.

i'd rather give the money to some beggars than to buy from these bloodsuckers.
*
Thats why im getting from EB instead.

I rather pay RM100 more than getting from them.

The thing is, the Blizzard patcher suxs. It took me 3 hours to patch the damn game, while Steam would have happily finish it in 30 minutes. They have to get rid of the torrenting and use direct downloads. Then, they have region lock for Beta. It's another major problem and for some reason, it's on low priority for Blizzard to fix it.

My experience with the Beta so far is horrible. Worst beta ever, compared to RA3, BFBC2, DoW2, C&C4 and HoN Beta.

it would be a lot more hassle to get it else where.
if buy online on battle.net it would probably be cheaper (usd59.99) but it will probably take ages to download.
collectors edition buyers must buy physical copy and cannot resort to this option.

anyways, i wonder how will the 100+ collectors edition buyer in my pre-order list react if the local pricing for collectors edition is outrageously high.
with SMM, it is possible that they may jack the price up to RM400 - RM500 sweat.gif

took me maybe 5-15mins per patch, throughout all the patches from sc2. so yeah blizz patcher sucks alright. thumbup.gif

and really, theres always the manual patchers that other people have been using/copying and they have posted their successes in the sc2 thread too. could've always used those

Well,as people always say, Blizzard is awesome and everything they do is great.

The way Blizzard patch is already obsolete and terrible, as most companies have changed to different method of patching where the client compares the local files and the files on server. Then, download only the files needed so the the local files is the same as the server. Blizzard have so much resource and they cant do it. Worse, there is not even a cumulative patch for the first few patches for the Beta as you have to download patch 1 to 10 one by one.

If they are so great, why is the patching is so painful and slow?

Even RA3 Beta have cumulative patches for each patch released.

I couldnt find any thread that have patch 9 which is the huge patch. The small ones are still ok.

I really dont see it as an excuse for not updating the software as the game has been in development for 5 years.

SC2 definitely needs a longer Beta,at least 3 months more,IMO. Battlenet doesnt seem as great as it was advertised.

Thing is, beta could actually be the good moment to test a new update tool too in my opinion smile.gif

Not at release when so many people will be trying to update their game all at the same time
