To the folks asking for 4 or 5 Mbits line in Malaysia: this is not the issue smile.gif

You could have a 25Mbits line and still get crap online experience, not like online games use that much bandwidth anyway

Bandwidth and latency are only slightly related with each other

Having X Mbts is not what is really important, it's having a GOOD connection with reliable and low ping international hops that is important.

From what I know Tmnet has some very crap deal for international routing which are the main causes of lags from my experience of playing Wow on US servers.

It's normal. If the download is going to slow or taking too long, the downloader / patcher will automatically assume that you're behind firewall.
*
For these who played WoW before, is it using the same Blizzard Downloader tool for getting patches and co?

I never managed to get a "green" connection with that thing, even when able to run other torrent stuff perfectly fine on the side.

Sucks if they use this for the full game, that thing is good for US/EU but pretty crap for the rest of us blink.gif

pretty much almost the same...
but it took me pretty fast to patch up with it after some initial hiccup...
*
Meh, okey, I tried from few places around Bandar Utama though, never really managed to get it work fine (it usually went back to the HTTP Download which takes forever).
I ended up downloading the patches from external websites if it was more than few tens of Mbs.
I did forward ports and all too.

See how it goes on retail then

port, forward. torrent 101.
*
Did that, didnt help at all.

Like I said, I could run utorrent or any other stuff fine along, but that damn Blizzard thing never went very fast.
I could see connections starting in the detailed view but they closed in few seconds each time.

Was pretty weird, just hope will be better for SC2 (I moved since then, might help)

Cheesenium,
maybe because it is beta and they are malas to change the update software?
*
Thing is, beta could actually be the good moment to test a new update tool too in my opinion smile.gif

Not at release when so many people will be trying to update their game all at the same time

Erm. I'm having problem to get a Beta Account. It says I required a Full Blizzard Game. So.. I need to spent $$ for the account?
*
You need to have a Blizzard game added to your Battle Net account before you can get into the Beta Opt In program.

Even once this is done, you only get a chance to getting a Beta key, it's not automatic

I know the chance. But .. adding a game to my Battle Net account. It requires a CD key == I don't have any Blizzard Games with me.
*
Then you can't get into the Beta contest from what I know, that's just how Blizz works.

I think it's also to avoid people creating plenty accounts to get more chances to get into the Beta (and to avoid them to resell the beta key after)

Just a note folks, putting your emails in clear in a public forum is like begging to receive gay porn or wonderful banking opportunities from Senegal...

At least put it under the form of "myemail at gmail dot com" instead of "myemail@gmail.com"

not really when u go into raid/ BGs...
the amount of spam can kill ur fps >.<
*
Yep, Wow has low requirement but some stuff do make it lag badly but that's because the graphic game engine is very badly optimized (it's just too old now actually) + all the stuff happening is hogging our laggy connections.

My computer can run pretty much any game on very high settings, but it still lagged in Dalaran or in some raids

The new PC or the old PC?
*
The new one ^^

Which is how I really saw the engine was starting to get really old.

But I think it's mostly connection lag, but some places are badly done and just run slowly whatever you do

3D > 2D

As a married man I would take the Collector Edition...
As a non married man SC2, Blizzard and video gaming in general can go to hell for all I care, as an expression from my hometown said: "if this was in my bed.... I would not go sleep in the bath tube..." tongue.gif

Expressed in what language/dialect?
In French, "si elle etait dans mon lit, j'irai pas dormir dans la baignoire" smile.gif

Kinda means if you had that girl in your bed, you would jump into it and not go sleep somewhere else to be a "gentleman", married or whatever. Does not really translate well in English maybe
