kapas is quite cheap, the slowboat is around rm14 (to-fro) if im not mistaken, a decent chalet can be rent for about rm 50-80 per night (can squeeze 3 ppl) but if u plan to camp, there is a designated camping area with fresh water and still have to pay around rm10-15 per night. This is just a rough figure as it has been many2 years since my last time there, in fact we just drop by to bbq our sotong after 1 whole night mencandat (squirt fishing), oh ya, the water is clear but not as beautiful as redang/perhentian. its quite famous with backpackers tho. and actually juichuan, if the weather is fine (in monsoon season), you can still go to kapas island as it is quite near. they used to have swimming competition few years back from mainland to kapas island.

Just came back from Laguna Redang last week. Not impressed. Beach was a mess.... so many junk boat, tractors, etc..... tyre tracks. Got dead corals/shells near water and in beginning of water .... difficult for kids to walk on. Soft thick sand only available near to resort entrance. Water not that clean... just clear greenish color.

Planning for a trip on 5th Oct - 7th Oct for my group of friends.
Still considering where to go, say our budget is max Rm500 incl all transportation fee from KL, what's the best i can go with? I was checking with Laguna but few post ago someone mention it's not good, so anyone mind to gv me some idea on which resort is the best for our budget and how much are the transportation? |

Frankly speaking I hv not visted both islands except Redang, Lang Tengah & Kapas....Perhentian & Oulau Tengkol are my nxt target....
U probably need to check the earlier posting..Thre's a guy who hv tried those hotels & beaches around those islands..very informative indeed..He even hv his list of the best of all those islands.... Edited: Found the link: http://www.malaysia-islands.com/ Seems like he recommended Telul Pauh of Perhentian Besar... This post has been edited by stimix: Oct 31 2007, 03:28 PM |

Redang lang resort at Lang Tengah not a bad choice. Went there last August. Clean white sandy beach. Good hospitality. Quiet surrounding. Really like a holiday paradise. One thing to improve is the food though.

If I'm not mistaken, only Berjaya Island Resort is opened for biz during this time of the year. I been there in Mid No'01. But too bad u can't swim bcos of the high wave |

OMG... your package price must be very cheap!! Do you know why? ![]() ![]() ![]() source http://www.met.gov.my/malay/cuaca/ramalan/town.html (choose pulau redang) Raining and thunder storm for nearly these few months, and the estimated heaviest rain will be on this month (November 07)... I think you can only hide inside your room or resort during your trip... and some more... you take flight? Heavy rain, strong wind and thunderstorm...... wish you good luck... |

actually if you go during monsoon, there are times when it is not raining. It wont rain 24/7. and i can tell you the big waves are pretty nice to play with. If you know how to surf, it's even better
