you can put room rates at RM 1600... but at the end of the day, no one can afford to go.. it'll still be a failure...

That idiot don't understand economy one issit... You cannot just simply decide "oh i want to make this place high end, so i'll just build high end hotels and charge RM xxxx for it and rich ppl will come"..

at the end of the day, if there are better alternatives and when there are better places to go, rich ppl won't even bother coming..

See their pricing, they are putting it at USD rates... if i'm coming from USD, it's cheap... for malaysians, forget about even going there...

places like andaman and the datai springs to mind when comes to resorts like this... Purely cater for foreign market.

If those things come into plan, there will be pure to foreign market. Its not failure but it cater different market. Like Andaman and Datai, its hard to get a room though. I dunno whether in term of economics, its good or not. But for sure, to make all chalet on Redang like those Burau Bay, its a no-no. Splitting those area in Redang maybe a good choice, imho.
