One of my RES is not eating, he just stay basking on land, not active. The other one eats healthily. I feed them pellets and other foods. They are few months old. Does anyone have any suggestion?

I'm very sad Muffin is gone... tot he wasnt eating coz of new environment.. RES, about 50 cents coin size, bought the round plastic tank with palm tree one (which i've googled just now and some called it 'Death Bowl', tried giving green veg from fridge and fish pellet but it didnt even sniff... feel that i've cost a life for not enuff preparation for a terrapin. but i'm determined to make it up. googling more sites for care sheet and wanna setup a proper bigger glass tank for the next fella with UVB, filtration and basking area... ;'( any other things that sifu here and point me to look out for? PS: took him out at about 12pm today outside car porch and he was the most active i've seen since bought him, trying to run under the car and shoe rack, then put him back in tank, after 4-5 hours, motionless in his tank... |

QUOTE(king_eric @ Jun 19 2012, 10:32 AM) about 10 mins each in sun and in shade.... Then my guess is right and 10mins is way too long for such a young turtle ( shell not 100% harden ) overheating is bad for turtle or tortoise or should I say all reptiles !! gosh, it's overheating then! afternoon sun coz i woke up late yesterday... hmmm, no wonder very active... ok noted. i have a question, read up some site's and was mentioned that they dun like to be handled at all, will rajuk and dun eat. true? so how exactly do we socialise with them? without touching? Once heard a case of a guy using a 120w sunglo light for his baby sulcata ( saying his sulcata not active due to in an air-condition room ) yes it did activate his sulcata but after a few hours "batteries " went out and it died ( from over heating ) as enclosure too small ( 2 ft tank ) They like to chase glass shrimp , baby fishes or blood worm once in a while !! Cheers |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « sad to see this btw i bought a malayan box turtle yesterday. and it do not eat since bought. I tried fed him with different type pellets, kangkung, and banana. He also spent most of his time basking and not moving. It is the same whether I placed him in a aquarium with other 2 RES or in a seperate plastic tank. It seem to scare of water as well.. I tried put him in the water he was panic and quickly run to the basking dock again his size is around 5.5cm can I know whether there are any problem with this turtle?
