I call my SA just now. and he said elantra ETA on Dec 2011 with CKD and should expect lower price. is it true you can only get car make 2012 on June next year? any diff for resale if i reg the car 2012 for 2011 make car.
waiting so long already. haha
Actually the difference between current year and next year production car is only a few thousand, but you will need to keep the car for at least 3-5 years for the resale value to level out. One other point to consider, is that a 2011/2012 car (meaning made in 2011 but registered in 2012) will fetch a higher price than an early 2011/2011 car. There will be ppl prepared to pay more, they are not stupid like banks.
When choosing the time to sell, it's good to ask around on the financing packages available for your car at that time. Normally, cars 5yrs and below can fetch a better price simply because the prospective buyer is able to get a higher loan, lower interest and longer tenure. Above 5yrs, the value will experience a sharp drop to a new level to cater to existing demand. It's all about affordability of your prospective buyer.
If it's an existing model, booking from now until Dec 2011 is still ok, can nego for a better deal with your friendly SA so next time, even though you sell the car for less but you also paid less. But a brand new model with hot demand, most prolly no discounts on price and interest rates, plus fewer or no freebies. Less than 6 months your "new" car becomes last year's model already as what cybermaster mentioned.
Very silly to launch a new model at year end.

Add: Silly to launch a new car at year end. Unless they plan to do like Forte, first batch at a certain price, then next batch raise by few thousand but add more accessories.
