Can i join the forum? this is my 1st post... im a sony fan.. just want to share, my 1st laptop is vaio cs36, im very happy to use it... but, last year(december 2010) one of my friend wish to have my vaio. so, i sell to her... then, for my new year 2011, i buy another laptop, this is my 2nd vaio (VPCS137GG), really happy to have it... but, after 6day im use it, the HDD was broken... i send it to sony center, after 2 weeks, i didnt get any call from them...
then, i go to sony style TS to ask about the vaio... lastly, after some talk, their boss give me a replacement vaio... so, i get the new one... hehe... my luck on my new vaio is quite bad... bcoz, after 1.5 month i used it, my vaio has been stolen... OMG!!! im really angry bout that... now, im currently want to get a new vaio 4 my studies... its hard to do an assignment without vaio... my plan is to buy a same model, but my budget is not enough... my budget is below 2700... im used photoshop alot... now im trying to get a new VAIO YB...

Vaio YB price is rm1799, the spec is quite good 4 me... VPCYB15AG/S
i plan to upgade it abit.. 320gb HDD = 60gb SSD , 2gb ram = 4gb rm and Window 7 starter = ultimate
the price after upgade is around +-RM2300...

any suggestion 4 me to buy a new vaio?
what do u think about my choice?
p/s:i only accept Sony VAIO to be my personal laptop...

and with that budget i think the Y is ur only option then, btw do u pefer spped then storage sapce? i mean 60gb , if me its not enuff but hey, maybe u can add those usb disk drive..

anyhoo, i found official Vaio S debut vid!

for me, 60gb is more than enuf... OS + application + game + some movie and music = +-45gb... btw, i have 500gb ex. hdd... i put all my stuff there... i only store my favorite music and some new movie to primary disk...
i prefer speed, its like the high end netbook 2 me...
as long as i can do photoshop without lag is enuf 4 me... this is my only choice...
i have hear bout the new vaio s also, its just too perfect 4 me... and i really2 want it... but, if any1 can give it 2 me as free give, i will really2 appreciate it... hehe...

but a refresh line of S n C is coming might as well wait n have fun choosing which one

i think its surely within these few weeks, maybe reach april.. but hope soon! as sony vaio display area at my place is wiped clean with black "coming soon" posters allover

Just googled C. Not really what I have in mind after what I saw in Z. S looks like a contender but given S or Z, I'll take Z in a heartbeat.

I just read that this Z is refreshed. Confirm that it was just refreshed like few weeks ago?

Also, just to add on, I'm a sucker for good laptop material. In this case, the aluminum/carbon fibre drew me in.

I don't know if any other laptops like this are out there besides the VAIO Z.

F also getting 3D fix, i really dunno about Z , if its got new range then sony really revamping the whole line! which is awsome!

Guys,I own a Vaio Y series VPCY115FG,I was planning to upgrade the ram from 2GB to 4GB, is it recommended ? Most of the time I use it to watch movie at night,then morning use it to do presentation to my customer. My computer run almost 13 hours in 1 day.

afaik program ike photoediting mostly use huge amount of rams

and only 64bit utilized 4gb ram

btw, how many a Y ram slot? if ure got free slot and budget for it i dont see why not? ddr3 are cheap nowdays too

Y series got 2 ram slot. Now using 1 piece of DDR3 2GB ram. Around how much ? RM 200 per piece for another 2GB DDR3 RAM ?
