I was manage to get back my switchable graphic working on my SB36 Windows 8 fresh installation, but it seem to be a big drop of battery life when using stamina mode, from 4 hours to 2 hours at 80%. @@" Anyone having same issue?

Thanks Amal. I've checked & seems like many can run Saints Row The Third just fine on Windows 8 Pro, only few had problems with it. Worth giving it a shot heh. By the way I wonder if it's possible to pay using a Debit Card with MasterCard logo on it. I'll have to pay RM50 for the upgrade right? Thanks again.

When I upgraded to Windows 8, the old BIOS still work as per normal. If there isn't any issue at all with the old BIOS, maybe you should leave it as it is, for now. The new BIOS that I've MODded are not actually for our Malaysian Model. If you download for drivers and software for Windows 8, there isn't any BIOS file to be downloaded at all. It works, yes, but I still don't know what are the changes made with the new BIOS. |

So to put it simply, if it's OCed now, it will remain OCed even after upgrading right? So the dragon should still lives on to Win 8 Pro. Dear All Vaio Gurus,
i was looking for Vaio Duo 11, but have to wait for another 2 weeks before Sony center/ Harvey Norman replenish. As im in the need of a laptop now for doing video capturing / editing i wonder if the duo 11 is the right choice since the video works really consume a lot of space (128GB will be filled in just weeks). Then i found out about the S-series (SVS13) and only started in November, Sony already revamped the S series with few upgrades Basic model (SVS131225CV) Core-i5 1. Storage increase to 750GB instead of 640GB in Oct 2012 2. Window 8 pre-installed instead of W7HP in Oct 2012 3. Office 2013 Trial instead of Office 2010 Starter in Oct 2012 4. Price RM3099 (i researched that the Old S Series Core i7 AMD model was priced like this)* *Sony malaysia has placed all AMD models in archive section in their website. So only 3 categories in S Series line up now, other than the basic above, the other 2 are the Core i7 (RM3999) and the Carbon fibre Chasis (RM4799) with 1600x900 res screen and w8 pro I read few posts in this thread that users are selling their old S Series and i wonder should proceed with my purchase for the basic one. Sony Center offered RM49 discount + Sony 16GB Thumbdrive and Harvey Norman offered RM88 Discount. Any advice? The white one really gorgeous. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Bear in mind that the S Series does NOT have touchscreen, unlike the VAIO Duo 11. 2) Do you need a larger screen? The VAIO Duo 11 has well, 11 inch screen as compared to 13.3 inch on the VAIO S Series. The S Series comes in two flavors, 720p for the basic one, whereas 1080p for the i7 version. 3) Do you play games too? VAIO Duo 11 does not have a dedicated graphics card whereas the S Series have a Nvidia GT640M LE with 1GB of VRAM. Depending on your video editing needs, having a dedicated graphics card can really help you on the high def videos. I've had troubles playing full HD stuff using the built in Intel HD 4000 card, but it's super smooth when I switched to SPEED mode aka the Nvidia card. 4) Do you need a large internal HDD? S Series comes with a 640GB 5000rpm HDD. I'm a gamer and I find this to be fairly enough for my gaming needs. As you have already know, the Duo has an smaller SSD storage instead. For the record, I've upgraded my VAIO to Windows 8 Pro and yes, it's not unusable at all as what the people on the net have been nagging about nowadays. Having touch screen is a fine addition, but we can definitely live without it. I use the Desktop mode like 99% of the time. The Modern UI Start Screen is just a fancy replacement of the Start Menu. Since video editing is your thing, I'm pretty sure u'll end up in Desktop mode most of the time though. Hope that helps. |

Yeah storage is my main concern and that optical drive is just convenient to burn wedding or event videos and pass them to people. Cheaper1) Do you really care bout touchscreen on a laptop at all? Another thing hows that white beautiful surface survives your daily activities (i.e gaming) etc. ? I prefer black version but the keyboard is also black with white lettering, kinda look cheap. I wish it comes with silver keyboard like the white and maroon version. |

Cheaper Oh yeah...having an optical drive is pretty useful for times when you really need to do those stuffs, like installing games too haha. Hmm I use it everyday with a keyboard cover. So far so good, the only thing I have to clean every now & then are the palmrest areas. Everywhere else are still spotless even after almost half a year of use. Anyway, just saw someone did a video on Need For Speed Most Wanted on the Vaio S, running on stock GT 640M LE.
Since got nothing to do, so I've decided to do a test video using the BIOS MOD to compare the fps. Here are the video : Stock GT640M LE - Created by androiddindang 1000/1000 MOD GT640M LE - Created by me So, those thinking of playing nfs most wanted on a MODded BIOS, don't worry. Just that we can't max it at full settings. |

Whenever I wake my laptop up after putting the computer on standby/sleep mode, the Fn buttons ceased to work. It will only work again after I restart the VAIO Event Service. Hmm enlighten me on the shared library, I know nothing of this matter. Heard that you have to install the shared library if you have issues with the Fn shortcut. |

Download from the Sony website :http://www.sony.com.my/support/product/svs13a15gg#download Select Windows 7 instead of Windows 8 I'm not sure whether it'll work though. |
